4 Movies that explore human and robot relationships. ( Photo Credit – IMDb )
Within the cinematic storytelling world, a profound and engaging genre is rising with movies that explore human and robot relationships. These films explore the complex interactions that happen between human emotions, ethics, and existence and artificial intelligence. Shahid Kapoor and Kriti Sanon’s Teri Baaton Mein Aisa Uljha will be one such film that will explore the bond between a human and a robot. It’s not the first time we will see a story like this, and it won’t be the last time. The film is scheduled to be released in theatres on February 9, 2023.
Movies about human-robot relationships offer a unique perspective of how these machines can not only make life easier but can also have a comforting effect. Technology has the power to help us connect with people from one corner of the world to the other.

What’s Good: When you’ve Manoj Bajpayee listed in the cast, asking what’s good gets kind of redundant
What’s Bad: This wouldn’t get much attention to be ignored as yet another ‘festival film’ which talks about the systematic imbalance, it’s more than that
Loo Break: This will keep you and your pants hooked till the end
Watch or Not?: Yes, to witness Manoj Bajpayee’s unmatched range

Mumbai, March 23 (Ians) Filmmaker Anubhav Sinha, who is awaiting the release of his film ‘Bheed’, has said that drawing the parallels between the Covid lockdown and partition was a deeply personal choice for him.
The film, which stars Rajkummar Rao and Bhumi Pednekar in the lead, tells the story of countless migrant workers who walked miles, battled the odds to reach their homes during the first nationwide lockdown in India which was the harshest lockdown in the world.
The trailer of the film was recently pulled down after a dialogue in the film, that compared the 2020 Covid Lockdown to the partition of India, seemed to ruffle many feathers.
Commenting on the comparisons between the two events, Anubhav Sinha said, “Comparing the Covid lockdown to the partition was my personal voice. Every filmmaker tries to assimilate events and the effect it had on society through his perception and interpretation.”

Bheed
Directed by Anubhav Sinha
For my time and attention, Anubhav Sinha is the finest contemporary filmmaker of Hindi cinema. He makes the films that he wants to. Whether the audience participates in his compelling creative process(Mulk, Article 15) or not(Anek) Anubhav is fine with it.
Bheed comes too close to the actual trauma of the Lockdown for comfort. Assuredly this masterpiece on a real palpable immediate chunk of history makes us uncomfortable, as cinema was always supposed to.
But then we decided we wanted our cinema to be a song-and-dance nautanki. Anubhav Sinha, God bless his fearless soul, decided with Mulk to move away from the bheed, no pun intended. Look where he has reached now! Bheed is our own Schindler’s List. And I don’t mean just the black-and-white photography which could have been somewhat gimmicky in lesser hands.

Bollywood actor and author Ashutosh Rana found the idea of making ‘Bheed’ in black and white quite apt and said that one cannot show a tragedy in colour. He related the entire idea with the Big Bang theory.
He shared his perspective on the lockdown and who turned out to be the real heroes during the times of adversity.
In conversation with Ians during the promotion of ‘Bheed’, he said: “If you learn about the Big Bang, you will understand that there was first darkness. Then, an explosion happened and light started to spread. So, the story of creation and destruction that happens in our lives begins with ‘shvet’ and ‘shyam’ (white and black). When we cross this catharsis of black and white, our world finally becomes a rainbow. The colours come and the indigo is formed.”

Mumbai, March 21 (Ians) Actress Dia Mirza, who will soon be seen in the upcoming pandemic drama film, ‘Bheed’, experienced separation anxiety while shooting for the film. The actress, who is a frequent collaborator of the film’s director Anubhav Sinha, shared that it was quite difficult to cope with the anxiety.
‘Bheed’ was the first project that Dia had signed after motherhood. Being away from her son Avyaan for an extended shoot, was one of the most emotionally challenging experiences for her.
She said, “The separation from my son lent itself to the part I was playing. The separation anxiety of being apart from my six-month-old baby was very difficult to cope with. After “Mulk” (2018), “Article 15” (2019), “Thappad” (2020) and “Anek” (2022), filmmaker Anubhav Sinha is back with “Bheed,” another hard-hitting film that shines a light on the fabric of Indian society.
The film is set during the 2020 Indian pandemic lockdown and tells the poignant story of migrant workers stranded without basic necessities while trying to go home to their villages. Shot in black and white, it is deliberately evocative of the 1947 partition of the Indian subcontinent into India and Pakistan when people were uprooted from their homes in the largest migration in history.
“When the pandemic hit, people were seeking help on Twitter. Everybody had different strengths so we were helping each other and, and I really got sucked into it. And that was the time when I felt that this film had to be made, this period of time has to be recorded, and I didn’t want it to be just a Coronavirus film,...

The actor who has played prominent roles in movies like ‘War’, ‘Pagglait’ and ‘Hungama 2’, shared: “I recall when Rajkummar begged me to truly smack him during a scene to make it look real and believable. Initially, I wasn’t ready to do it, but Anubhav stepped in and told me that if Rajkummar was willing to accept the slap for real, what was holding me back from doing the same?”
“So, we went ahead and did the shot in one go. Thankfully, we had a great tuning with the cameraperson, and the scene turned out to be very effective,” he added.

On 11th March 2023, the trailer of Anubhav Sinha’s multi-starrer film ‘Bheed’ was released, and with great power and pathos, took us to the heart of a story that has never been told before. The impactful trailer showcases a strong storyline as well as a powerful cast including Rajkummar Rao, Bhumi Pednekar, Dia Mirza, Pankaj Kapur, and Ashutosh Rana.
Dia Mirza says, “This trailer reminds us of the vast suffering of millions during the lockdown and captures countless human stories of loss, heartbreak, and helplessness that have never been documented fully. Three years after the lockdown, this trailer also reminds us just how quickly we forget tragedies that have not impacted us directly.”
In the trailer, Dia is seen to be playing the role of a mother whose life drastically changes when a sudden lockdown makes it impossible for her to reach her child. She says, “It was easy for...

Mumbai, March 10 (Ians) The trailer of the upcoming film ‘Bheed’, which stars an ensemble cast, was unveiled on Friday.
The film, directed by Anubhav Sinha of ‘Article 15’ fame, is completely in monochrome and tells the story from India’s recent history of the first nationwide lockdown after Covid-19 was recognised as a health emergency in 2020 and how the migrant workers were ill treated by the authorities as they walked miles for days together at a stretch to reach their homes.
The trailer, which is under 3 minutes in length, starts off with a voice-over of Prime Minister Narendra Modi’s famous address to the nation wherein he called for a complete nationwide lockdown, which became the harshest lockdown in the entire world. India’s Reliance Entertainment, a producer on Steven Spielberg’s “The Fabelmans,” has pacted with T-Series and Anubhav Sinha’s Benaras Mediaworks to distribute Sudhir Mishra’s “Afwaah,” Sinha’s “Bheed” and Hansal Mehta’s “Faraaz” internationally.
First up is Mehta’s hostage drama “Faraaz,” starring Zahan Kapoor, Aditya Rawal, Juhi Babbar Soni, which releases Feb. 3. The film, which had its world premiere at the BFI London Film Festival, unfolds over one night and is based on an incident in July 2016, where armed gunmen held up customers at the Holey Artisan Bakery, in Dhaka, Bangladesh, for 12 hours, before killing 20 of them and two of the bakery staff.
