“This is the worst disaster that Maui has ever faced, probably that Hawaii has ever faced,” says Maui native Kainoa Horcajo, a Hawaiian cultural advisor and the co-owner of consultancy The Mo’olelo Group. With the death toll reaching 111, and 1,000 people still unaccounted for amid the devastation and destruction, the Maui disaster is officially the deadliest wildfire in the U.S. since 1918. “Businesses come second. The people and the families are first,” says Horcajo. “We know a lot of people want to come out here. But we need to focus our resources on taking care of our local families, on making sure that our visitor industries, our hotels have the ability to help in the community. That we’re all working together.”

Who is Todd Lincoln, you ask? Well, most of you probably know him as the production assistant for visual effects photography on From Dust Til Dawn.
Or not.
Ok, he's likely more known for his upcoming directorial debut, The Apparition, a movie we've never reported on here. What? We're not fucking omnipresent, Ok? Fine, I'll report on it now:
When frightening events start to occur in their home, young couple Kelly (Ashley Greene) and Ben (Sebastian Stan) discover they are being haunted by a presence that was accidentally conjured during a university parapsychology experiment. The horrifying apparition feeds on their fear and torments them no matter where they try to run. Their last hope is an expert in the supernatural (Tom Felton), but even with his help they may already be too late to save themselves from this terrifying force.
There, happy? Also, hey! Ashley Greene! You're pretty and the...

Try to imagine this DVD release roundup in 3-D for maximum enjoyment.
What's new on DVD Tuesday? We'll bookend this roundup with the two best releases. Links to add them to your queues provided because I'm sweet and helpful like that.
Coraline - I loved the use of 3D in Coraline so I'm wondering how it will transfer to the flatter world of home entertainment: Will that tunnel into Other Mother be as beckoning? Would the transformative acrobatic sister act pay off quite so well? Even if they won't, the film's imaginative visuals and fun character play will pull you into its rewarding tale of a bored little girl suddenly fighting for her soul and her parent's lives in a fantasy world that's not quite like her own. Coraline's journey is often compared to Alice's trip through the looking glass or down the rabbit hole. Miyazaki's Spirited Away was also described that way.

Kelly Clarkson is like a "colorful Charlie's Angel." The 26-year-old singer - whose new single "My Life Would Suck Without You" has topped the Billboard Top 100 and the U.K. singles chart - has ditched her old rock-chick image, and claims her new image is the reason for her newfound success.
She said: "Everyone has been trying to put pink on me since I started seven years ago so now I've given in. I was always dark before but now I've embraced a new colorful Charlie's Angels kind of superhero vibe - except without the super powers. It seems to be working."
Despite making some changes to her image, Kelly recently claimed she has never felt pressurized to lose weight.
She said: "She said: "I feel very fortunate coming from 'American Idol'. I was the biggest girl in the group."...
