The Incredible Hulk, created by Jack Kirby and Stan Lee in 1962, is a character born more from universal monster movies and 1950s sci-fi than more modern notions of complex, interlaced comic book lore. In the original comic books, a spindly physicist named Bruce Banner was exposed to a strange type of radiation while saving a soldier from a nuclear bomb test. Rather than killing him, the radiation mutated his body into that of a bulky, over-muscled brute. He eventually shrunk back to his normal size, but Bruce eventually found that whenever he got angry, he would transform back into an unstoppable radioactive ogre. Indeed, he was so angry, he couldn't speak or think clearly.
The Hulk became one of the more popular characters in a new wave of Marvel Comics that debuted in the 1960s. He was popular enough to be included in the Avengers, a mash-up superhero team comic...

WGA, AMPTP reach “tentative” three-year deal.
The Writers Guilds of America West and East (WGA) and Alliance of Motion Picture and Television Producers (AMPTP) have reached a “tentative” last-minute agreement to avert the impending writers strike.
The old contract expired at midnight Pacific Time on May 1. The new deal will now need to be ratified by the WGA’s board and eventually its members.
In a statement, the WGA confirmed that the teams have “concluded negotiations and have reached a tentative agreement on terms for a new three-year collective bargaining agreement” which it said was worth “$130m more than the pattern we were expected to accept”.
The WGA cited contribution increases to the organisation’s health plan, as well as expanded protections in options and exclusivity, and an increase in Pay TV residuals, as terms that it had made gains in.
Further details of the agreement will be provided in the coming days.

On May 25, 1979, a misty summer morning in New York City, 6-year-old Etan Patz begged his mother, Julie, to let him walk the few blocks to school alone. She relented, and the last time she saw him alive he was walking away from her.
Etan’s mysterious disappearance struck fear both in his New York City neighborhood and the country as a whole, as the little boy became a leading face for the search for missing children everywhere.
In February, decades after he became the first-ever “milk carton kid,” a jury finally convicted Etan’s killer though his body was never found.

The "Pawn Stars" cast is facing a major lawsuit.
Cast members Richard B. Harrison, Richard K. Harrison, Richard C. Harrison and Austen Russell are among the subjects of a $5 million dollar filed by Venture Iab Inc. According to The Hollywood Reporter, the lawsuit, which was filed on Tuesday, claims that History channel executives Nancy Dubuc and Mary Donahue convinced the reality stars to hire Venture Iab rival Michael Camacho of UTA as their agent. The talent agency says that as a result they lost $5 million in commissions.
Venture Iab reportedly signed the "Pawn Stars" cast to written contracts back in 2007 and claim Camacho "stole" their clients in 2010, less than a year after the series launched.
In response to the lawsuit, Camacho told Deadline: “I was in charge of unscripted television at UTA when his agency signed several of the principal characters of Pawn Stars. I have never met or spoken...

Harrison and Austen Russell are subject to a whopping $5 million lawsuit, filed today in Los Angeles Superior Court by Venture Iab Inc. talent agency, who claims they lost that massive amount in commissions based on its 10 percent interest in their income, according to The Hollywood Reporter. I have never met or spoken to the former agents or the clients and was unaware of any claim.” The former agents of the stars of History’s Pawn Stars today sued the network, executives Nancy Dubac and Mary Donahue, A&E and former UTA agent Michael Camacho for allegedly poaching their clients. Citing $5 million in lost commissions and damages (read complaint here), Venture Iab claims that it set up Pawn Stars’ Richard B. Harrison, Richard K. Harrison, Richard C. Richard K. is addicted to crystal meth and his situation has become so bad, and so frightening, that the people closest to him have decided to stage an "Intervention" (Mon., 10 p.m. Est on A&E).
His relatives believe that without the drugs Richard could be a successful performer, but a main hurdle between him and sobriety is that he refuses to acknowledge that he is an addict. Even though he has sometimes had to turn to drug-dealing and prostitution to finance his habit.
Unaware that his family is staging an intervention Richard agrees to participate in what he thinks is a documentary about drug addiction. However, when he arrives and sees his whole family gathered together, Richard goes into a blind panic and runs away.
Pursued by family members he runs right out into the street where he gets into a potentially dangerous physical tussle before he shakes off his pursuers and disappears.

It’s not easy to pull off Guy Ritchie’s signature high energy smash-action British gangster flicks—Snatch, Lock Stock and Two Smoking Barrels—with most attempts feeling flimsy in their imitations. Andy and Chaz Bugger Off to America makes a noble effort on limited resources. The five-episode indie web series is certainly absurd fun, flirting with chaotic in its comedic story of two British gangsters on the run in Los Angeles trying half-wittingly to crack into the film business. The series has its drawbacks, and its modest production value gets in the way at times—like the awkwardly blurred-out logos of dumpster brands and motel signs. The thought that kept interrupting my viewing: why not just choose shots without logos? I was about to write this series off, when we had the chance to meet up with creators Darren Darnborough (“Chaz”), Craig Robert Young (“Andy”) and director Richard Keith.

I spent several hours with Gene this morning. He wasn’t under the influence of any pain killers so he was lucid and jovial, but grew short of breath several times—and every now and again he’d grimace in pain. The attending nurse finally had no choice but to put him back on the morphine and that was it—Gene was fast asleep.
Despite his legendary optimism, Gene’s situation is tenuous. His family hopes he can undergo a procedure early this week that may alleviate his pain. Regardless, it’s unlikely that my pal will be drawing for anyone anytime soon.To continue generating what might become much-needed funds, we are selling off the last of Gene’s artwork, as well as some books and comics. I've made no secret about the fact I absolutely love James McTeigue's directorial debut V for Vendetta and am hotly anticipating his follow-up, Ninja Assassin (trailer to the right), this November and Peter Sciretta over at Slash Film has landed himself an exclusive taste as to what the director is cooking up next. McTeigue is working on a period thriller titled The Raven written by Hannah Shakespeare and Ben Livingston described as a fictionalized account of the final five "mysterious" days of Edgar Allan Poe's life. The story will follow the famous writer as he joins the hunt for a serial killer whose murders are inspired by his stories. "It's like the poem, 'The Raven,' itself, crossed with Se7en. It should be pretty cool. The script is really good and everyone responds to it really well. I'm in the middle of casting," the director said.
