Updated: There has been another round of content removal from Disney+, this time in the Emea region, which consists of Europe, the Middle East and Africa. More than 120 titles have been taken off this week, primarily Disney Channel original movies and vintage Disney live-action films, as well as a few series, including Zeke and Luther, Pepper Ann, So Random and the first three seasons of Nat Geo’s Genius and ESPN/Nat Geo docs.
According to sources, the takedowns were a result of a library title review. There have been several content purges at Disney+ over the last year amid cost-cutting, most notably the removal of a slew of original series last May.
Here is a list of movie titles that are said to be gone from Disney+ in Emea, compiled by Drew Ryan.
A Tale of Two Critters
America’s Heart and Soul
Angry Sky (ESPN)

There’s a lot of talk about the secret formula behind delicious Krabby Patties in “The SpongeBob Movie: Sponge on the Run,” but the real secret formula lies in the creative trust that has managed to create not one, not two, but now three thoroughly entertaining feature-length adaptations of the long-running TV show.
In an era when so many 25-page children’s books or eight-minute animated shorts have been bloated beyond proportion on their way to becoming 90-minute movies, Team SpongeBob deserves credit for unlocking the alchemy behind building up and building out a storyline and a set of characters without losing sight of what made the original beloved in the first place.
This time around, writer-director Tim Hill steps in, and he’s managed to take the goofy denizens of Bikini Bottom on a road trip that is visually dazzling and almost consistently hilarious, mixing verbal and physical humor,...

Every weekend a slew of new titles arrive across the various streaming services to satiate the millions of subscribers around the world who can’t seem to decide on what to watch, but things are a little different this week with Christmas Day falling on a Friday. That means a lot of food and alcohol-related hangovers and a general sense of laziness and malaise, so comfort eating and viewing will be the go-to options for a lot of folks over the next three days.
There are some heavy hitters coming to the multitude of platforms, too, with the Dceu’s blockbuster comic book sequel Wonder Woman 1984 and Pixar’s latest animation Soul arriving on HBO Max and Disney Plus respectively. Those two titles are guaranteed to dominate both the most-watched list and the conversation, but there are more than a few others that are definitely worth a watch, and you...

Once everyone exchanges gifts, spends some quality time with their loved ones and eats far too much food, the next step on Christmas Day is usually to gather around the TV and see what’s on the schedule. Today, the choice looks to be a pretty clear one between HBO Max’s Wonder Woman 1984 and Disney Plus‘ Soul, both of which would have no doubt ranked among the biggest box office hits of the year had 2020 gone according to plan.
The latter follows Jamie Foxx’s music teacher Joe Gardner, who suffers an accident that separates his soul from his body, sending him into another dimension where he’s forced to band together with a cast of unique characters so that he can make it back to his own reality before his body dies. With Inside Out and Up‘s Pete Docter at the helm, it shouldn’t come...

As Friday falls on the 25th this week, that means that Santa will be delivering a handful of new Disney Plus releases along with our presents this year.
Yes, Christmas Day sees four fresh titles going up on the Mouse House’s streaming service. That’s a small haul compared to the usual amount, but D+ has loaded up the previous weeks to leave Friday the 25th’s arrivals nice and lean. Maybe to put more emphasis on the latest major movie release coming to the site: Pixar’s Soul. But we’ll get to that in a minute.
The other film becoming available to stream this Christmas Day is Max Keeble’s Big Move, a Disney family comedy from 2001. The forgotten pic stars Alex D. Linz (Home Alone 3) as middle school student Max who decides to go all-out in getting revenge on his bullies when he learns that his family is moving away.

The holiday season is here and Pixar has a little gift for Disney+ subscribers.
After the animation studio’s next major effort was delayed due to the coronavirus pandemic, the powers that be finally made the decision to release it on Disney’s streaming service. And that’s why you will now be able to watch Soul via Disney+ on Christmas Day. Soul stars Jamie Foxx as Joe Gardner – an inspiring jazz musician who finally gets his chance when his soul enters the Great Beyond.
Soul isn’t the only gift on Disney+ in December 2020. The sure-to-be-thrilling finale of The Mandalorian season 2 will arrive on Dec. 18. After those two beg exciting tentpoles, it’s pretty much business as usual for Disney+ this month (not that that’s necessarily a bad thing). An original movie of note, Safety, premieres on Dec. 11 and should at least be of interest to Clemson football fans.

The Mouse House recently revealed that they’re looking to make exclusive streaming content their number one priority moving forward, which is just as well because at the moment, Disney Plus doesn’t have too many options for original movies and TV series that have the potential to grab headlines and dominate the online conversation.
Sure, Hamilton was a huge success, but aside from that and, obviously The Mandalorian, there haven’t been a whole lot of high profile titles added in 2020. Mulan may have generated a lot of attention despite being locked behind a paywall, but it’s probably fair to say that for the most part, the blockbuster received the opposite kind of publicity from what Disney were hoping for.
Still, the studio will continue on with new additions and December’s lineup has now been revealed, promising some exciting titles to dig into next month. Again, it...

Suffer the Children: Hill Strikes Out with High Profile Kiddie Flick
Tim Hill seems to know something about entertaining children, especially when it involves animation or puppetry, having spent over two decades as a director curating several memorable characters. The producer and co-creator of SpongeBob SquarePants, he’s tackled the Muppets, Garfield, and Alvin and the Chipmunks (2007). But it’s been nearly two decades since Hill has gone completely live action in 2001’s Max Keeble’s Big Move, so his latest venture, The War with Grandpa, which features a number of notable, award-winning cast members, seems more a testament to his reputation than the integrity of the material.…...

“The War with Grandpa” opens with a feisty encounter between Robert De Niro and a supermarket scanner. The supermarket has eliminated all its cashiers, and De Niro’s Ed, a senior citizen who wants to check out his cart full of groceries, can’t get the beeping, Siri-voiced scanner to cooperate, which leaves him testy in all the familiar yet agreeably scowling and disgruntled De Niro ways. He winds up walking out and stealing the groceries — not because he’s a thief, but because he’s so irritated. He then gets into a yogurt-hurling fight in the parking lot. So far, so De Niro-as-raging-codger proud.
But that’s about all you’re going to see of the 77-year-old De Niro’s charismatic volcanic side in “The War with Grandpa.” Moments later, Ed is in his messy living room, seated in his comfy old studded leather armchair, when Uma Thurman, as his daughter Sally,...
