Pop singer Ke$$ha has ended Jay-z and Alicia Keys' five-week reign at the top of the Us singles chart. Her track 'TiK Tok' - already a chart-topper in Australia and a top five hit in the UK - climbs to the summit this week to become her maiden Us number one. Jay-z and Keys slip to two with 'Empire State Of Mind', while Lady GaGa holds steady at three with 'Bad Romance'. There are no new tracks in the top ten this week, but Rihanna manages to climb from 21 to 11 with 'Hard', the second single from her Rated R album. Alicia Keys Blocked by Susan Boyle From No. 1 Spot on Hot 200

23 December 2009 6:44 PM, PST | Aceshowbiz | See recent Aceshowbiz news »

Alicia Keys' "The Element of Freedom" has to sit at the runner-up position as Susan Boyle's "I Dreamed a Dream" is standing in its way to the top spot. Alicia's album sold 417,000 copies, while Susan's pulls in 661,000 units in its fourth week on sale.

This is the first time Alicia misses the hot spot on the U.S. albums chart as she succeeded to be crowned the Hot 200 champ with her three previous albums. Though so, her album, which manages to steal the first position on R&B Albums chart this week, is estimated to have a chance of reaching No. 1 in the coming weeks when the Susan hysteria dies down.

As for Susan, this is her fourth week reign. "I Dreamed a Dream" has garnered a total of 2,465,000 copies, becoming the second-best selling album of 2009 behind Taylor Swift's "Fearless" which has scanned more than 2,933,000 to date. Moreover, »

Just in Time for the Holidays...Rapper T.I. Released from Prison

23 December 2009 11:34 AM, PST | Celebuzz.com | See recent Celebuzz news »

Honestly, who hasn't tried to buy unregistered machine guns at one time or another? You know Taylor Swift goes incognito when purchasing her grenade launchers.  And Alicia Keys?  Forget about it.  She's on the down low with her four tanks and attack helicopters. Seems everybody's buying military-grade weapons these days. So it's not surprising that the multi-platinum, Southern-stylin' rapper, T.I. (Clifford Harris Jr.), received early release from prison after serving seven months for his illegal gun purchases, just in time for Christmas. After a brief stint in a halfway house, T.I. will begin a circuit of speaking to high school kids about the dangers »

Susan Boyle keeps Alicia Keys from No. 1 on Billboard 200

23 December 2009 10:36 AM, PST | Hitfix | See recent Hitfix news »

The debut of Alicia Keys' "Element of Freedom" wasn't nearly strong enough to stop the Susan Boyle train from chugging at the top of The Billboard 200. "I Dreamed a dream had a 14% increase in sales to 661,000 a week before Christmas. "Element" moved 417,00 copies for a No. 2 entry, comparatively slower to the 742,000 start that her 2007 album "As I Am" had during Thanksgiving week that year. "I Dreamed a Dream" is the second best-selling album this year so far with 2,465,000 units sold. Taylor Swift's "Fearless" is in first, with 2,933,000. There are two weeks left in »

'Sex and the City 2' trailer: 'Fess up! Are you excited for this sequel?

23 December 2009 9:47 AM, PST | EW.com - PopWatch | See recent EW.com - PopWatch news »

She's back! Carrie Bradshaw, that is. The first trailer for Sex and the City 2 has been released. As much as something inside me wants to just hate all over the fact that they're doing another movie, I sort of died in a big ol' fashiony mess as I watched this teaser. Which, to be honest, reveals almost nothing about what's gonna happen in this installment besides the fact that the ladies seem to trek themselves to the desert. But I'll stop blabbing and let you just watch it here: A few takeaways: 1) The use of Alicia Keys and Jay-z's NYC-loving »

Taylor Swift might be sweeping up all the year-end awards, but it's "Britain's Got Talent" runner-up Susan Boyle who is dominating the charts. According to figures provided by Nielsen SoundScan, Boyle's debut album, I Dreamed a Dream, will lord over the Billboard 200 chart yet again next week, notching an impressive fourth consecutive week in the #1 position thanks to another 661,000 units shifted. Since its release last month, Boyle's disc of covers and holiday favorites has sold nearly 2.5 million copies, making it one of the year's top sellers.

After a series of delays, Alicia Keys will come out strong at #2 with The Element of Freedom, which sold 417,000 copies, pushing another swiftly selling holiday album, tenor Andrea Bocelli's My Christmas, down to #3 on sales of 390,000.

Sex and the City Girls Go Exotic in New Trailer

23 December 2009 6:56 AM, PST | TheImproper.com | See recent TheImproper.com news »

Carrie looks fabulous and Samantha is still as flirty as ever in the new “Sex and the City 2″ trailer. There was no hint about what Miley Cyrus, Liza Minnelli and Penelope Cruz will be doing in their cameo roles, but the trailer does offer some clues about the movie’s plot. Released today (Dec. 23), the 90-second clip is just a reminder from the studio during this movie-crazed week that film is coming in May. It looks like the sequel to the hit movie and HBO series will still stick with its tried and true formula of four gals -- Sarah Jessica Parker, Cynthia Nixon, Kim Cattrall and Kristin Davis -- trying to keep things together in the big city, complete with Manolos, Jimmy Choos and cosmopolitans. Jay-z and Alicia Keys give it an urban edge, too. »

Alicia Keys has revealed she doesn't exactly know what she's doing in the studio. Singer Alicia Keys, who has nine Grammy Awards under her belt, says despite her global success she still can't get her head around the songwriting process. The 28-year-old star said: 'I’ve never stepped in the studio one time and knew what I was doing – ever. 'Every time I come back in the studio I don’t know how to write a song again.' But the No One songstress reckons the struggle to pen lyrics is what makes her love music. 'Did Stevie Wonder say, 'I know exactly the song I’m gonna write', or did it just happen?' she laughs. »

Earlier this week, rumors leaked out about Susan Boyle recording the all-important title song for the next edition of the James Bond movie series, now starring Daniel Craig as Special Agent 007. Susan would be joining an all-star cast of past Bond crooners, including Paul McCartney, Tom Jones, Madonna, Carly Simon, Duran Duran, Tina Turner, and, more recently, Chris Cornell and Jack White/Alicia Keys. However, despite the great honor, we couldn't help but imagine SuBo taking on an even more illustrious role in the next Bond film -- that of the famous Bond Girl, a plum role played in the past by »

Last Minute Christmas Gifts From Jay-z And Lady Gaga: The Oh Snap! Poll

By Steven Roberts

There's only a few days left before Christmas, and if you're anything like us, you still have a lot more gifts to grab. Luckily, there were plenty of CDs released this year, so there's plenty of options for stuffing the stockings of the music lover in your life. In today's edition of the "Oh Snap! Poll," we hit the street of Times Square to ask people what album they want most for Christmas. Hopefully it will give us some insight into what to grab our loved ones.

Christen Estudillo was first in line outside of Footlocker waiting on a chance to buy a pair of Space Jam Air Jordan XI's. He said he was excited to get a copy of Jay-z's The Blueprint 3. "It's pretty different, new kind of music. [He's] always coming out with something better to impress the fans."

‘The Daily Show’, ‘Colbert Report’ To Go HD In January

22 December 2009 10:00 AM, PST | The Flickcast | See recent The Flickcast news »

In news that should have happened months ago, it seems that Comedy Central’s nightly, satiric look at current events is finally getting upgraded to HD starting on January 4. Not only will these be the first episodes shot in HD, but they will be the first episodes of the year, and the century.

No word on how this upgrade will effect the format of the show, if at all, but we do know that both shows will continue to keep us laughing into the new year.

Most recently, both shows have been nominated for a WGA TV award, which will put them head-to-head (and we know what happened last time).

With both shows doing well in ratings, getting nominated for awards, and getting the boost to HD, it’s no doubt that variety, or more specifically “comedy”, programming is still at it’s peak.

If you doubt that, you could »

Sir Charles To Dunk Saturday Night Live

The surprising progress made during this weekend's James Franco-hosted SNL will likely not stick, because the show has invited NBA retiree and admittedly out-of-shape sports commentator Charles Barkley to headline its first show after the winter break. His January 9 episode alongside Alicia Keys will mark the star's first time back in Studio 8H since 1993, when Barkley hosted with musical guest Nirvana. Will he poke fun at his friend Tiger Woods? Probably not. Will he suffer through Kenan Thompson's impersonation of him? Sure. Will SNL ever learn to not kick off the new year with a sports star host? Unlikely. [Associated Content] »
