Our favorite show, Dancing With the Stars, is back on the small screen and we couldn't be happier! To celebrate the premiere of Season 27, Closer Weekly put together a revealing roundup of behind-the-scenes drama, spray-tan shenanigans, and more cast secrets from the hit reality competition — scroll down to see! Costume Drama Getting your groove on in a barely-there costume secured by double-sided tape is a recipe for wardrobe malfunctions. "I cannot watch the show without thinking about [it]," DWTS costume designer Daniela Gschwendtner said. "All I look at is their boobs and booties!" Melissa Rycroft, Kelly Monaco, and Nancy Grace are just a few of the stars who've come undone on the live show. Eyelashes and body makeup and wigs, oh my!
The hair and makeup departments on fast-moving television shows often turn around dozens of looks in a week and create new ones at a moment’s notice. Depending on the show, it doesn’t always have to be beautiful, but it sure has to look good on camera.
“When I started on ‘Saturday Night Live’ we had a lot more leeway and it was Ok if the edge of a bald cap was little hard,” says Louie Zakarian, makeup artist for the NBC show and a six-time Emmy winner. “But now not only are they watching in HD, they’re watching on huge screens, so when I turn Kate [McKinnon] into Jeff Sessions, we have to work the details and I have to be able to do it all in two minutes.”

This is the second year for the Makeup and Hairstylists Guild joining the awards game, and they've been a welcome addition to the circuit. They spread their nods thin across a number of categories, but it's a good window into what this branch digs, for sure. This year, the only two films on the Academy's bake-off list of finalists that didn't garner any recognition were "The Amazing Spider-Man 2" and "Noah." Meaning "Foxcatcher," "The Grand Budapest Hotel," "Guardians of the Galaxy," "Maleficent" and "The Theory of Everything" were each represented in one form or another. Meanwhile, "Guardians of the Galaxy" led with the most mentions at three, while "The Grand Budapest Hotel," "Interstellar" and "Into the Woods" each got a pair. As previously announced, Oscar-winning make-up artist Rick Baker and Emmy-nominated hair stylist Kathryn Blondell will receive the Guild's Lifetime Achievement Awards. Check out the full list of nominees below,...

Kate Gosselin didn’t exactly learn to dance on her stint on Dwts, but she did pick up some great makeup know-how from makeup artist Zena Shteysel!
Unfortunately, Kate Gosselin’s dancing skills weren’t enough to keep her on Dancing With The Stars but she’s leaving the show with some brand new makeup tips thanks to makeup artist Zena Shteysel to keep her looking glam on her own. “Kate’s great,” Zena says. “She’s fantastic to work with and a big lover of makeup.” Zena and Kate both loved getting into character for the show.
To help Kate keep her makeup organized when she’s out on her own, Zena gave Kate three of her Z Palettes. These empty, magnetic cases can hold all of Kate’s shadows, blushes, powders and concealers in one place. Plus, since the outside is clear, Kate can easily see what makeup is where.
