Nascar driver Juan Pablo Montoya is reaching for the sky. He tells us when he's not racing cars, he's like Bruce Jenner and plays with radio-control planes. "I have jets and everything with turbines in it and helicopters and big-scale airplanes like 10-foot-wingspan airplanes," Montoya told E! News at the Auto Club Speedway in Fontana, Calif. And cars aren't his only hot wheels. "I mountain bike like crazy like every day at home," he said. "Every day I'm home on the bike either once or twice a day." For more Nascar, check out E! News tonight at 7 p.m. and 11:30 p.m.

The piece sees Hammond travel to Texas Motor Speedway in Fort Worth, Texas, where he attempts to explain the appeal of Nascar by experiencing a race and interviewing several of the sport's drivers, including Johnson, Jeff Gordon, and Juan Pablo Montoya.

Fox’s live coverage of the Daytona 500 delivered some healthy ratings for the network, while NBC’s Smash showed some fighting spirit after recent declines.
About 14.1 million viewers* tuned in for the event during primetime, which averaged a hearty 4.6 rating in the adult demo. The “Super Bowl of Nascar” made national headlines when driver Juan Pablo Montoya crashed into a jet dryer. The resulting fireball shut down the track temporarily (Montoya was unharmed). Being rain-delayed for hours also contributed to the drama, but doubtless helped propel viewers to screen once racers got the green flag in primetime.

The “Super Bowl of Nascar” made national headlines when driver Juan Pablo Montoya crashed into a jet dryer. The resulting fireball shut down the track temporarily (Montoya was unharmed). We’re awaiting firm ratings for the event from Fox Sports, but early numbers show heavy viewer interest and it might have put Fox into the pole position to win the night.
NBC was a strong second, but The Voice (14.8 million viewers, 5.4 adults 18-49 rating) dipped 10 percent.

The Voice pulled in the night's strongest numbers on Monday, despite a demo drop from last week and Fox's rain-delayed broadcast of the Daytona 500. Nascar pushed Fox to an overall win for the night, though the lack of time zone adjusted numbers will likely paint a different picture later in the day. The race -- which saw Juan Pablo Montoya slam into 200 gallons of jet fuel -- averaged a 4.5 among adults 18-49. Fox brought in 14.2 million viewers. The Daytona 500 ran Monday night (Feb. 27) after being rescheduled twice due to heavy rains on Sunday. This 54th running of the race was peppered with bizarre occurrences on the way to Matt Kenseth taking the checkered flag, edging out Dale Earnhardt Jr.'s last-lap effort.
On the way to the victory, the race lasted almost six hours (the longest Daytona ever) and featured several crashes. On lap 2, Jimmie Johnson spun out and took David Ragan, Danica Patrick, Trevor Bayne and Kurt Busch with him.
Then during a caution flag around lap 160, Juan Pablo Montoya lost control and hit an equipment truck with a jet-powered dryer. The ensuing inferno lasted nearly 10 minutes and the repairs took nearly two hours.
And then welcome to the post-modern age, Nascar. During all of this, driver Brad Keselowski was tweeting from his racecar:
Fire! My view http://pic.twitter.com/RWn3xMn6No worries We stopped @LisShoe: @keselowski please!

Evolution Studios MotorStorm: Apocalypse
I’ve not only witnessed the apocalypse, I’ve driven through it on a motorcycle. And it was good fun, roads and bridges crumbling and buckling all around me.
I give Evolution Studio’s MotorStorm: Apocalypse very high marks for injecting some innovative twists – like the end of the world — to the franchise’s typical “balls-to-the-wall” racing. If you know the two previous MotorStorm games (the 2007 original and its sequel, MotorStorm: Pacific Rift), the premise is...

[1] When you decide to create several Transformers that look like real life Nascar's, where better to debut them than the biggest race of the year? In Transformers: Dark of the Moon, they're called The Wreckers and while we've already seen some images [2] of the vehicles in action, they were featured prominently [3] in the brand new commercial that premiered during the Daytona 500. Plus, the cars themselves were on display at the race and we've got a really cool gallery of photos below. The first eight images come courtesy Hendrick Motorsports [4] with a heads up from The Daily Blam [5]. The final four are courtesy of /Film reader Carder W. Click on each for a bigger version. [gallery columns="2"] From images that were earlier revealed of the Transformers: Dark of the Moon toys (thanks to Screen Rant [6]), we know that the Blue #48 car (which, in real life, is driven by Jimmy Johnson) is named...

Bill Fagerbakke (Most recently seen on How I Met Your Mother) will lend his voice to a new stock car racing Autobot character in Michael Bay's upcoming film Transformers: Dark of the Moon. The actor also has provided the voice of Patrick the Starfish on the animated kids show SpongeBob SquarePants for over ten years.
The news comes from a local paper in Idaho called MagicValley, which describes Fagerbakke's character as “voicing an animated [sic] Chevy Impala stock car equipped with machine guns.” There are three new Autobot Nascar racers called the Wreckers. The picture below shows three separate Impalas: Juan Pablo Montoya’s #42 Target car, Dale Earnhardt, Jr.’s #88 Amp Energy car and Jimmie Johnson’s #48 Lowe’s car.
Fagerbakke has a great and unique voice that will work well in this series. Check out the images of the cars below, and let us know what you think about Fagerbakke voicing one of them.

Take a close look at one of the newest Autobots to join the Transformers film franchise, part of an elite fighting unit known as the Wreckers. In director Micheal Bay's third outing with the Robots in Disguise, he introduces the Wreckers. An elite commando unit based on the Chevrolet Impala that will resemble the vehicles driven by Nascar drivers Juan Pablo Montoya, Dale Earnhardt Jr. and Jimmie Johnson. Though previously only seen on set from a distance, this look image reveals one of the Wreckers in an aggressive posture: Recently, Hasbro released images of the Megatron action figure which can be seen and compared to the film version of the character here. Transformers: Dark of the Moon, set for release on July 1, 2011 in 3D, is directed by Michael Bay. It stars Shia Labeouf, Rosie...

We originally saw Megatron as a gun way back when and when Transformers first hit several years ago, he took the form of a jet. Fast-forward a couple years and Megatron became a tank...of sorts. Now, in Michael "Boom-Boom" Bay's final installment in the series, Transformers: Dark of the Moon, it seems that the Decepticon leader will be taking the form of a tanker truck. Over at InsideLine, they've posted a couple new pictures of the truck as well as a closer look at one of the three wreckers, which are modeled after the cars of Nascar drivers Juan Pablo Montoya, Dale Earhardt, Jr. and Jimmie Johnson. Take a look: Transformers: Dark of the Moon is set to open this summer and stars Shia LeBeouf, Rosie Huntington-Whiteley, Julie White, Kevin Dunn, Josh Duhamel, Tyrese Gibson, Alan Tudyk and John Malkovich.

Dear Bob,
I'm writing you because I read in Dan LeBatard's column today that you've had a horrible week since your slip-up on national television last weekend. You know, that comment about a taco and Nascar driver Juan Pablo Montoya during the Espn football broadcast you were calling? It was definitely a bad joke and some people have gone so far as to suggest that you're a racist for having said it.
I don't think you're a racist based on this incident. Neither does LeBatard. I think you're not a very funny person. You were a great quarterback. You've been an excellent analyst of college football. But you're no Shecky Greene when it comes to off-the-cuff guffaws.
