Evan Daugherty, who is best known for penning blockbuster fare like “Divergent” and “Snow White and the Huntsman,” is taking a crack at the short-form thriller format.
Quibi is developing “Horror Accidental,” a “terrifyingly addictive” psychological thriller anthology written and directed by Daugherty. The series is based on the Japanese TV drama of the same name, which ran across two parts in 2013 and 2016.
This represents the second Daugherty project announced this year, after news emerged that Sony Pictures is in early development on a reboot of the “Anaconda” franchise, with Daugherty on board as a writer. His most recent writing credit was on 2018’s “Tomb Raider” starring Alicia Vikander.
“Horror Accidental” will center around everyday situations normal people find themselves in and the horrific possibilities that lurk around every corner in our modern world. The original “Horror Accidental” was produced by Fuji Television Network and was written by Koichiro Miki,...

Oscar-nominated BlacKkKlansman co-writers Charlie Wachtel and David Rabinowitz are teaming with Gunpoweder & Sky to develop Madness, a TV drama series set in the world of college basketball.
The series will follow the corrupt inner workings of a prestigious college basketball program through the eyes of its new assistant coach. Producers said that with a House of Cards feel, Madness reveals the repercussions the team must face after their head coach makes a bad deal.
“In BlacKkKlansman, Charlie and David were able to tap into the current national zeitgeist through the artful telling of an unknown story from American history,” said Cody Zwieg, Svp Production and Development at Gunpowder & Sky. “They are treasure hunters of sorts, seeking out and spinning the undiscovered stories that resonate with the social climate of today. For Gunpowder & Sky this is a golden opportunity.”
Said Wachtel: “Madness is a sports story told through the lens of a crime drama.

Jonathan Craven (son of Wes) and Cody Zwieg - who previously produced The Last House on the Left and The Hills Have Eyes remakes - are back with a new thriller entitled Charm, from director Ashley Cahill.
Cahill also stars in ths film alongside Rebecca Dayan, Jennifer Murray, James DeBello and Jake Hoffman.
Kirsten Dunst apparently makes a cameo as well.
Cahill plays Malcolm, a young man whose principle interests are movies, New York, and mass murder. He's a New Yorker who gets tired of how gentrified, tepid and antiseptic it's all become. So, he decides to take matters into his own hands by personally starting a crime wave which he hopes will catch on and drive real estate value down, opening up the city to bohemians, artists and a swell of creativity, just like the supposed good 'ole days of the 1970s and '80s. The only problem is: Nobody is paying attention.
