- According to his good friend Howard Stern, Ron was a wild, unhinged stand-up comic who would go on stage and improvise to the point of, at one point, fist-fighting with the audience... Eventually he found stand-up too stressful, so he went into writing and producing, mostly television.
- Wrote for the Sam Kinison show Charlie Hoover, where the rotund, drug-fueled, legendary comic played the tiny conscience of Tim Matheson; Ron brought his buddy Bill Maher in for a semi-regular role on the series, and Sam thought Ron brought Bill in to replace him... so Sam and Ron had a big fight on the set.
- Sold a script for a romantic comedy titled Best Man, which was never made.
- Was one of Scott Baio's good friends.
