Belladonna Of Sadness
Release Date: Coming Soon from Cinelicious Pics Written By: Yoshiyuki Fukuda, Jules Michelet (novel), Eiichi Yamamoto Directed By: Eiichi Yamamoto Starring: Tatsuya Nakadai, Katsuyuki Itô, Aiko Nagayama
When I heard about Cinelicious Pics’ plans to restore and release the long lost 1973 anime Belladonna Of Sadness, I was well and truly excited. I’m a huge aficionado of 70s-era anime, and this baby has been a “holy grail” of sorts for folks like me for a good many years — much desired but damn near impossible to obtain. So that being said, and with those expectations set freakin’ sky high, let’s see if ol’ Belladonna was worth the wait or will it just fill me with sadness of my own!
Belladonna Of Sadness, based loosely (and by that I mean hardly at all) on the French novel La Sorcière by Jules Michelet, tells the brutal tale of Jeanne,...

If you're in the Los Angeles area and you happen to be in the mood for some mediocre Friday the 13th action this weekend, you might be interested in a midnight revival screening of the Paramount era's darkest day!
In all seriousness, I enjoy Friday the 13th Part VII: The New Blood. It just happens to be my least favorite of the eight Paramount distributions. But that wouldn't be enough to prevent me from attending this screening if it was happening in my backyard. Incidentally, there was a screening of Jason Takes Manhattan in my backyard earlier this month. It happened to fall on one of two weekends that I was out of town, and I'm still incredibly bitter about it.
At any rate, Friday the 13th Part VII: The New Blood turned 25 this year. So go celebrate with not just a 35mm print but also an introduction and brief...

I'd say one of the biggest hits of this year's Comic-Con had to be the Neca exclusive Jason Voorhees 8-bit action figure. And for those that remember the game from when it actually game out, the latest movie in the series that was out in theaters at the time was 'Friday The 13th Part VII: The New Blood,' hence the image of Kane Hodder as Jason on the front of the box. All I can say is I have tremendously fond memories of seeing 'Friday 7' in theaters. I went with a large group of fellow 12 year old's and convinced our guidance counselor to get us in. I was too young to be aware of the MPAA problems. All I knew was it had a bitchin' opening and a great fight between the unstoppable Jason and Tina (a Carrie-esque telekenetic).
