In the never-ending attempt to bring ever greater spectacle to the Las Vegas Strip, Wynn Las Vegas is the latest resort working to up the ante. Today, it announced a new show, Awakening, that will open on Nov. 7.
Not only will the production include narration by Anthony Hopkins, but Awakening — with a creative team that includes multiple Emmy and Tony Award winners — will also be presented in a custom-built theater in the round that features a 60-foot stage with 80-foot ceilings. The resort describes that stage as “prismatic,” thanks to it being made from dichroic glass as well as LED screens.
“The show had to be on a Las Vegas scale — bigger and more over the top,” Baz Halpin, the show’s director and a producer tells The Hollywood Reporter. He details that thanks to the design of the 360-degree theater, “As an audience member,...

Legendary magicians Siegfried & Roy took their final bow on Saturday, in a Las Vegas stage performance featuring the Bengal tiger that cut short their career five years ago.
The German-born pair - Siegfried Fischbacher and Roy Horn - had not performed their long-running double act since Horn was mauled by a 380-pound tiger in front of a Las Vegas audience in October 2003.
The performer was partially paralysed, suffering a damaged neck artery and crushed windpipe after the animal bit into his throat.
But Horn, 64, returned to the stage with Fischbacher, 69, for their final 10-minute trick at a benefit dinner at the Bellagio Hotel-Casino on Saturday.
The illusionists' manager Bernie Yuman says, "The last time we closed, we didn't have a lot of warning. This is farewell. This is the dot at the end of the sentence."...

Las Vegas illusionist Roy Horn has made another breakthrough following his vicious mauling by a tiger last year - he's taken his first steps since the attack. Horn, part of hit magic show Siegfried And Roy Show, was left on the brink of death after one of his tigers attacked him during a performance. However, following the news the German star had begun to talk again a fortnight ago, Horn is now starting to get his mobility back. Manager Bernie Yuman, who says Roy is "making huge strides" in his rehabilitation, says, "The most important thing is that Siegfried is really challenging him at what will require long-term rehab. They're enjoying these tiny triumphs. He's quite the miracle man. It's amazing."...

Siegfried & Roy star Roy Horn has been airlifted to a new hospital in Los Angeles as he continues to battle back from his near-fatal tiger attack earlier this month. The pair's manager Bernie Yuman insists the move from Las Vegas, Nevada's University Medical Center is further proof the illusionist is getting better. He says, "All of us in the Siegfried & Roy family are encouraged by his remarkable will and progress during this challenging time."...

Siegfried & Roy's longtime manager believes Roy Horn was attacked by Montecore the tiger because the creature was distracted by something in the audience. Bernie Yuman thinks that moments after the distraction, the four-legged big cat attacked the performer because Horn was trying to coax it back into their routine. Yuman says, "Roy - heroically, from my perception - got in front of him and started to nudge him. They were both out of their routine. One thing led to another, and it was a tragic accident." The attack, which took place on Friday night - on Horn's 59th birthday - took place at Las Vegas, Nevada's Mirage hotel and casino, where the German-born star and his partner Siegfried Fischbacher have been a long-running fixture. The day after the attack, the show was closed indefinitely.
