What’s the saying? Oh yeah… third times the charm and the Resident Evil series is no exception. For our third outing we’re here to explore the aftermath of the apocalypse with Resident Evil: Extinction (watch it Here). This one is pretty divisive with the consensus being some people, like myself, loved this film while others felt this was the beginning of the downward slope of sequels of the franchise. Hear me out as to why I sing its praises. For one, it tells a cohesive story and gives us a side of Alice that we’ve been dying to see. We get more new characters that bring gravitas to the story as well as a fully fleshed out villain and it’s a lot of fun. Plus, its pays homage to The Road Warrior in the best way. So, let’s hit up the Sand Dunes of Vegas,...

As the dawn of the new millennium approached, the world would start to see a trend of films that would become very mainstream. These types of movies are action horror video game adaptations. As stated in our previous video, there have been a number of different ones, but nothing stood out more than Resident Evil. In 2002, we were graced with the first in this series. It may not have been the critic’s favorite, but it did well enough at the box office to spawn a sequel. The name of that sequel is Resident Evil: Apocalypse (watch it Here). With a title that big, you would think the filmmakers went for bigger, better and more destructive…right? For the most part, yes and they even packed in some surprises for fans of the series. So today on Horror Revisited we ask that you suit up and strap in for Alice...

It may seem hard to believe, but at one stage Resident Evil was not only the highest-grossing film series based on a video game, but also the highest-grossing horror film series period. Consisting of six movies and a reboot, the Resident Evil movies just kept making money even while they were being bashed by critics. Most of those critics arguably had valid points, but the arrival of a new Resident Evil movie simply became oddly comforting somewhere along the way.
Thanks to the creative voices of Event Horizon director Paul W.S. Anderson and his Fifth Element actress wife Milla Jovovich, six of the seven Resident Evil movies feature the character of Alice (Jovovich firing on all cylinders), a former security specialist and covert operative who initially has amnesia but eventually remembers she’s out to take down the insidious Umbrella Corporation, a global company responsible for Earth’s weirdest zombie apocalypse.

Chris Jansing is accustomed to doing marathon stints in front of the camera for NBC News and MSNBC. In the aftermath of 9/11, she sometimes found herself reporting or anchoring for seven hours or more. “I lived on tater tots for, I think, two months,” she recalls in a recent interview. “It was the one thing that could fill me up and wouldn’t ruin my lipstick.”
Her latest assignment will require her to be on air only for two hours a day. But it may prove just as challenging.
In an era when cable-news anchoring stints are usually doled out 60 minutes at a time, Jansing is taking on more. The new edition of her “Chris Jansing Reports” at 1 p.m. expands to two hours, and her widening territory comes as MSNBC’s identity is increasingly tied up with a growing spate of opinion and “news perspective” programs. Video game adaptations: one of cinema’s most hated-on subgenres. Whenever another beloved controllable franchise is announced for moviegoing treatment, eyes roll. Critics quiver. Visions of Mark Wahlberg as Max Payne or Uwe Boll’s crimes against both gamersphere credibility and audience standards montage a hard-fast argument for such scoffs.
Fantastical play-alongs turned theatrical try-hards have long become the butt of many online jokes, and while titles such as Detective Pikachu and both Sonic the Hedgehog films disprove “cursed” trends, I’d argue that not all video game adaptations are created equal.
Horror video game adaptations maketh the best video game adaptations, and that’s by an Arklay country mile.

We still don’t have a title for “Bond 25,” but we’ve got a baddie (“Bohemian Rhapsody” Oscar winner Rami Malek), a Bond lady (Ana de Armas from “Blade Runner 2049”), and a premise for Cary Joji Fukunaga to direct. Obviously, it was less than what we were hoping for, as producers Michael G. Wilson and Barbara Broccoli announced the full cast during a live stream event Thursday from author Ian Fleming’s GoldenEye retreat in Jamaica (the spiritual home of the franchise where “Dr. No” and “Live and Let Die” were filmed).
Eschewing the usual Bond launch press conference, they were joined by James Bond star Daniel Craig and Fukunaga, who answered a few fan questions from Twitter. Meanwhile, Malek provided a quip via a video feed from New York about “making sure that Bond doesn’t have an easy ride.”

Norman Lear and Ava DuVernay are two Hollywood headliners who have never shied away from addressing the country’s biggest elephant in the room — race relations. They lived up to form on Tuesday, as the writer and producer behind iconic sitcoms like “Good Times” and “Sanford and Son” and the director of “Selma” and the “13th” bantered about the 44th president of the United States in terms that had some in the gilded audience chuckling nervously. At a morning panel at the Milken Global Conference in Beverly Hills, moderator and NBC News correspondent Alex Witt asked Lear and DuVernay about.

One spoiler note: the scene we’re going to discuss all takes place before Sam Smith starts singing…
I figure we’ve got ten minutes here, so if it’s okay with you, I want to do something that’s not clickbait-y.

With the return of Spectre and its wild mayhem, the 24th Bond movie (opening stateside November 6) offers plenty of thrilling action set pieces in Mexico City, Austria, Rome and Morocco. These are highlighted (sans Rome) in the new vlog with commentary by director Sam Mendes, special effects supervisor Chris Corbould, 2nd unit director Alexander Witt and first assistant director Michael Lerman. Marking a franchise first, there's a chase in snowy Austria with three vehicles chasing Daniel Craig's Bond in a plane. At one point, Dave Bautista's Mr. Hinx fires at him. It climaxes with an explosive crash. The Day of the Dead pre-credit sequence in Mexico City represents the most elaborate in franchise history, involving a rooftop chase by Bond, an explosion that knocks out a block of buildings and a furious fight in a helicopter, which does a dazzling 360 flip. And in Morocco, the special effects crew...

Since 1962, the James Bond franchise has come to define the spy genre, for good or ill. More broadly, every thriller and action film that comes out now either uses them as inspiration, or attempts to ignore or re-work the tropes that have come to be associated with the series.
Coming off the release of Kingsman: The Secret Service, and with the release of a new Bond film this year, now seems like the perfect time to take a look at a sample of the films which have been inspired by James Bond — either as homages, parodies or reactions.
The Ipcress File (1965)

The pre-credits Day of the Dead parade scene from Spectre will reportedly feature over 1500 extras and Bond producer Michael G. Wilson has described it as "the biggest sequence we've ever done." Last month a breakdown of the scene landed online, and now Yahoo has released a video that is a mix of behind-the-scenes footage and stills from the shoot in Mexico City. 2nd unit director Alex Witt and actress Stephanie Sigman (Estrella) provided details on what's...

Earlier today, as the world anxiously awaited the premiere of the teaser trailer for "Spectre," the latest James Bond adventure (once again starring Daniel Craig as 007), we were on the set of the film in Mexico City, watching them film the movie's dramatic opening sequence and chatting with various members of the crew. This sequence obviously didn't make it into the teaser, which was weirdly action-free, but it did give us a hint at what's to come from this spy thriller.
Mexico is a location that the James Bond franchise has utilized plenty of times before, most recently in the mostly forgotten Craig entry "Quantum of Solace" and the hotel where part of this action sequence takes place, the Gran Hotel de Mexico, had already been used in a 007 movie -- the even-more-forgotten Timothy Dalton joint "The Living Daylights," way back in 1987 (no, I don't remember that one either).

Whenever an artistic medium dares to cheat on its loyal fanbase by scurrying over to another, anger and thinkpieces likely follow. Technology has amped up an uncanny-valley-sort of realism in video games. Movies have added more CGI to its blockbuster spectacles and animation. Thus, the previously distinct media have drawn blurrier lines with consumers none too pleased. Games like Quantic Dreams’ Heavy Rain earn the title of “cinematic”, either as mere descriptor or complaint. A quick gameplay video affirms this: most of the action simply propels the player through a grounded narrative with only a few promptly-timed button mashes driving what looks like an animated movie. Cinema-goers as well have lambasted recent multi-million-dollar projects like Gravity for sequences of first-person, graphics-laden action, not unlike a Call of Duty cut-scene (the latest of which, by the way, features CGI-fied Hollywood actor Kevin Spacey...

Sony Pictures, MGM Studios, and Eon Productions have announced highly anticipated details about the 24th James Bond movie. They made the announcement from the Bond sound stage at Pinewood Studios. The movie will be called Spectre, a teaser poster was released, and you will find more information regarding the Sam Mendes directed film below thanks to the official James Bond Twitter account that live-tweeted the big event announcement.
For those of you not familiar with the name Spectre, it's the fictional terrorist organization that was introduced in the Bond novel Thunderball, and it was also present in the beginning of the movie Dr. No. The name stands for SPecial Executive for Counter-intelligence, Terrorism, Revenge and Extortion, which is led by the villain Ernst Stavro Blofeld.
Returning to direct Spectre is Sam Mendes, whose Skyfall was the highest-grossing entry in the history of the Bond franchise — not to mention one of the best reviewed.

There’s certainly no shortage of fights, explosions, and car chases to witness onscreen these days, but much of the action is, frankly, dull—the result of a tired series or a simple lack of creativity.
Just over a decade ago, however, the Bourne Identity set the action bar high. And since today is the tenth anniversary of the franchise’s second film, The Bourne Supremacy, we’re taking a look back at how the series got action right, how it has weathered the last 10 years, and what action films circa 2014 can learn from the trilogy.

Founded in 2007, Radical Studios is a multimedia company that incubated comic books for exploitation in other forms. Among their earliest releases was Hercules, boasting a Steranko cover, and it came with high production values and a bit of a buzz., The character returned for a second miniseries in and this interpretation captured Hollywood’s fancy. After years in development, production on the movie adaptation began today. Thew film enters a crowded summer 2014, especially for super-hero films, coming after Captain America: The Winter Solider and The Amazing Spider-Man 2 and just before X-Men: Days of Future Past and Guardians of the Galaxy (raising the question whether or not four Marvel Universe films in five months will reach the saturation point).

Jacqueline Fernandez, the Sri Lankan beauty, is quite 'kicked' these days and she has every reason to be so. The reason? Well, she has been signed opposite none other than Salman Khan in the much talked about film Kick, thus laying to rest the rumors of Deepika being the leading lady in the film. This film also marks the directorial debut of Sajid Nadiadwala, who confirmed about Jacqueline being the leading lady opposite Salman in the film. Buzz is strife that Nadiadwala has also roped in well known international names like cinematographer Alexander Witt and stunt directors Phillipe Guegan and Spiro Razatos for Kick. Industry pundits predict that this despite having done a handful of films with well known banners, Kick will surely act as the big-ticket to fame for Jacqueline. The film is expected to go on floor from July this year.

He has to complete the formalities (of the deal) today because Alexander isn’t available next week. In principle, he has already agreed,” sa...
