It’ll be a case of Succession-on-Succession violence at the 74th annual DGA Awards. The Directors Guild revealed its TV nominations Wednesday, and all five nominees for Dramatic Series are episodes of HBO’s juggernaut starring Jeremy Strong and Brian Cox.
On the Comedy Series side, Apple TV+’s Ted Lasso is a triple nominee alongside HBO Max’s Hacks and HBO’s The White Lotus.
Today’s nominations for the DGA Awards, which will be handed out March 12, also cover documentaries and commercials. See the full list below. The guild’s film nominations will be revealed Thursday.
The Movies for Television and Limited Series categories is chock-full of big names: Barry Jenkins for Amazon’s The Underground Railroad, Barry Levinson and Danny Strong for separate episodes of Hulu’s Dopesick, Hiro Murai for HBO Max’s Station Eleven and Craig Zobel for HBO’s Mare of Easttown.

Call it now: “Succession” will win the DGA Award this year for drama. That’s because it’s the only nominee this year for drama: Five episodes of the series’ third season filled all five nominated slots for this year’s DGA Awards category for dramatic series.
The “Sucession” sweep comes as the Directors Guild of America has revealed this year’s TV nominees for its 74rd annual DGA Awards, including achievement in drama, comedy, limited/TV movie, variety, reality, children’s and commercials. Also announced on Wednesday were the nominees for this year’s directorial achievement in documentaries.
On the comedy side, “Ted Lasso” led with three of the five DGA Awards nominations in the category, along with episodes of “Hacks” and “The White Lotus” (which somehow landed in the comedy field there).
Last year, top TV prizes went to “Homeland” for drama series and “The Flight Attendant” for comedy series,...

“Black-ish” star Anthony Anderson is currently under criminal investigation by the Los Angeles Police Department.
According to The Blast, Anderson allegedly assaulted a woman last year after an event she catered for the actor.
“It’s unfortunate that anyone can file a police report, whether it is true or false,” Anderson’s rep said in a statement to Variety. “The authorities have not contacted Anthony or any of his representatives about this matter. Anthony unequivocally disputes the claim.”
The Blast cited sources familiar with the situation, who said the woman met with Anderson a second time after the event to discuss future business opportunities with the actor when the assault occurred. She later filed a police report with the Hollywood Division of the Lapd.
The Lapd confirmed to Variety that a criminal investigation is underway, but had no additional information at this time and could not reveal the nature of the inquiry.

Barbershop star Anthony Anderson is now completely free of his legal woes, after Tennessee prosecutors decided not to pursue rape charges against him. The 34-year-old actor, along with film director Wayne Witherspoon, 43, stood accused of attacking a 25-year-old female extra last summer on the set of the Sundance Film Festival success Hustle & Flow. But a judge threw out the case in the autumn, saying testimony by the accuser was some of the most suspicious he had heard in 20 years. The accuser's former boyfriend reportedly testified at a preliminary hearing that she told him that she was falsely making her claim to extract money from Anderson and Witherspoon. Prosecutor District Attorney General Bill Gibbons says his office has reviewed the case and decided not to seek a grand jury criminal indictment against Anderson and Witherspoon. He states, "At this point we do not feel we have a provable case," adding the accuser was notified by letter earlier this month.

Rape charges against Barbershop star Anthony Anderson have been dismissed. A woman seeking a job as an extra on the set of the actor's movie Hustle And Flow in Memphis, Tennessee, claimed Anderson and director Wayne Witherspoon attacked her in a trailer on the set. The unnamed plaintiff also alleged she had forced sex with both men over a period of several days before the reported rape took place in July . But in court yesterday, a Tennessee judge said the accuser's testimony did not produce probable cause to let the charges stand and that the woman's testimony was the most "incredulous" he had ever heard. The two men refused to comment when they left the preliminary hearing. Anderson still faces another lawsuit in Los Angeles by a woman who claims the actor sexually assaulted her on the set of his cancelled TV series All About The Andersons.

Kangaroo Jack star Anthony Anderson has been arrested and charged with aggravated rape while shooting a movie. The 33-year-old actor was accused by an unidentified woman of luring her into a trailer on the Memphis, Tennessee, set of his latest film, Hustle And Flow, and sexually assaulting her with the film's assistant director, Wayne Witherspoon. Both men were charged yesterday, after being taken into custody by the Shelby County Sheriff's Department. The alleged incident occurred on Tuesday afternoon at the Shelby County Correctional Center, a penal farm on the outskirts of Memphis, where filming was under way for the movie. Sheriff's spokesman Steve Shular says a passer-by heard screams coming from the trailer and opened the door. Shular says, "She ran out nude." Both suspects were released yesterday evening after posting a $20,000 bond each. Allan Mayer, spokesman for married father-of-two Anderson, says, "(Anthony) absolutely denies the heinous charges. Anthony is a happily married family man who has never been accused of - no less involved in - anything remotely like this, and we are confident that when all the facts come out, he will be completely exonerated." Mayer says it's unclear whether Anderson will return to work on the movie, but adds he will likely remain in the Memphis area for the time being.
