Los Angeles, July 3 (Ians) Ewan McGregor preferred to show his kids one of his films ‘just for the laughs ‘. The actor used to show the toilet scene from ‘Trainspotting’ to his kids.
“I wasn’t there when (my daughter) Clara watched Trainspotting for the first time. But I did used to show my kids ‘the toilet scene’. Just for a laugh. It’s a unique situation, perhaps, for a father to be able to show his children footage of him going down the toilet,” he said at Karlovy Vary Film Festival, recently, Variety reported.
The trauma didn’t stop there. “I have a memory of showing Clara ‘Moulin Rouge!’, however. I think she was 9 years old. I put it on, and then I hear this wailing and crying. I rushed in, asking if I should switch it off and she went: ‘Noooo!'”

Exclusive: Alex Rivera, a recipient of a 2021 MacArthur Genius grant, is set to write and direct Zorro 2.0 for Sobini Films.
The film reimagines the iconic character as Oscar de la Vega, a young, undocumented hacker known as ‘z0rr0.’ While fighting back against a secret government unit that attacked his mother, he discovers a high-tech conspiracy that threatens not only his family but the world.
“I’ve always been interested in films that address real-world issues through genre,” Rivera said in a statement to Deadline. “This project is an opportunity to connect Zorro—the original masked avenger—to today’s border wars, a conflict in which immigrant families are pitted against regimes of hi-tech surveillance and government control. ‘Zorro 2.0′ will be visually elevated, socially grounded, sci-fi cinema, and I’m thrilled to be working with Sobini to get this vision on the screen.”
Sobini Films’ Mark Amin, Cami Winikoff and Tyler Boehm will produce.

A film that I somehow missed while growing up, Scarecrows is a bit of an oddity in comparison to the rest of the ’80s horror genre landscape. Not a slasher movie nor a traditional monster movie, William Wesley’s directorial debut is part caper-gone-awry/part paranoia-fueled thriller and does a nice job of creating a palpable sense of tension even while contending with the constraints of a minuscule budget. It also ups the creep-out factor with some strikingly cool killer scarecrow designs and features some of the most incredible nighttime cinematography, as well. Scarecrows may be one of the more overlooked cult classics from the ’80s, but thankfully Scream Factory is here to finally show this deserving film some love with a great new Blu-ray release.
Scarecrows digs right into its story, picking up with an elite group of thieves as they’re escaping on a hijacked plane with their loot in tow.

At the top of a definite genre shortlist is William Wesley’s 1988 title Scarecrows, a little horror flick about the eponymous objects used to frighten birds away from crops. Unfortunately, to use a cheap analogy, their use as frightful entities on film is parallel to their safeguarding of crops, effective only to the cognitive capabilities of smaller creatures. While Wesley maintains an effective command of ambience throughout this nocturnal jaunt through the vegetation, a bounty of budgetary restraints, strained performances and belabored writing seemingly brought on by a limited concept mark the film as fodder for the Mystery Science Theater 3000 experience.

It looks like Michael Winterbottom is taking a break from directing Russell 'Parklife' Brand documentaries for the time being.
Now that The Emperor's New Clothes is done with, he's attached to helm Will Ferrell's upcoming indie drama Russ & Roger Go Beyond.
The film follows the relationship between film critic Roger Ebert and soft-core filmmaker Russ Meyer, who created Beyond the Valley of the Dolls together in 1970.
As The Hollywood Reporter reveals, Winterbottom will direct Will Ferrell in the movie, with the Anchorman star due to play Meyer.
It was revealed earlier in the year that Josh Gad is in line to play Roger Ebert in the upcoming drama.
The script was written by Chris Cluess, while David Permut, Cami Winikoff, Mark Amin and Tyler Boehm are set to produce the film.

Exclusive: Andrew Niccol has cast and a title for his upcoming directorial project. He’s named the picture Good Kill, and Mad Men‘s January Jones has signed on to star as the wife of a fighter pilot-turned-drone operator. Ethan Hawke — who worked with Niccol in Gattaca and Lord Of War — is playing the pilot, Zoe Kravitz (Divergent) and Jake Abel (The Host) play members of his flight crew, and Bruce Greenwood plays his superior officer. The tension comes from the stress of battling the enemy by drone. He fights the Taliban by remote control for 12 hours a day, then goes home to the suburbs and feuds with his wife and kids for the other 12. He starts to question his mission, asking himself if he is creating more terrorists than he is killing in a war seemingly without end. Niccol wrote the script. The film began shooting at the end of last year in Morocco.
