During The Game Awards, Universal and Saber Interactive revealed something many, many "Jurassic Park" fans have been waiting a very long time for in the form of a brand new video game within the franchise. Not just any game, though; we're finally going on a survival horror adventure set on Isla Nublar right after the events of the original film. 30 years later, we're heading back to where it all began. Get ready for the aptly titled "Jurassic Park: Survival" by checking out the trailer above.
The trailer features some familiar voice-over from none other than John Hammond as we see glimpses of an abandoned park. There are familiar scenes from the movie, only now as part of the bleak aftermath of everything going horribly wrong and not in their original "spared no expense" form. We get to the meat on the bones when we discover that some poor soul has...

Remember Savage Entertainment’s Jurassic Park: Survival? The game was cancelled back in the early 2000s, but thanks to Saber Interactive and Universal Games, it’s back! Debuting a new trailer at The Game Awards 2023, Jurassic Park: Survival is currently in development for PC, Xbox Series and PlayStation 5.
According to the game’s official site, this new incarnation of Survival takes place after the events of 1993’s Jurassic Park, and centres on scientist Dr. Maya Joshi, an InGen scientist who was unable to evacuate Isla Nublar. Players will be challenged to survive an intense mix of first-person stealth and action in with the island’s dinosaurs, each with their own distinct and adaptive behaviours. As a result, you’ll need to use ingenuity through distraction and stealth to navigate these intense encounters.

The horror video game John Carpenter’s Toxic Commando is headed our way in 2024, and Bloody Disgusting has learned this week that a prequel comic is also on the way.
Dark Horse Comics partners with Saber Interactive to present John Carpenter’s Toxic Commando: Rise of the Sludge God, a comic prequel to the upcoming game developed by Saber Interactive and published by Focus Entertainment, John Carpenter’s Toxic Commando.
Written by Michael Moreci and featuring artwork by Alberto J. Albuquerque with letterer Nate Piekos, Rise of the Sludge God is set to begin in March 2024.
The comic miniseries presents the terror of a professional crew up against an unstoppable force in Alien combined with a healthy dose of the suspense-filled action of The Thing, peppered with zombified monsters and one gruesome god. Interior artist Albuquerque also creates the wild cover art.

We've played Rage 2, Bethesda's newest post-apocalyptic shooter, and have plenty of thoughts about the game!
Pink is an important color when it comes to Rage 2. According to id Software studio director Tim Willits, the color represents the game's '80s hardcore punk aesthetic, one of the many ways Bethesda's latest post-apocalyptic title separates itself from its drabber older brother over at Bethesda Game Studios.
"That color resonated well with the personality of the game," Willits explains during a behind-closed-doors demo event in New York City in January. "It's a fun color, it's a fun game."
Rage 2, the sequel to id's well-received 2011 first-person shooter, is actually a collaboration between the legendary Fps developer and Avalanche Studios, the team behind the Just Cause series and the excellent Mad Max. In fact, it's the latter game, with its gorgeous recreation of the Australian wasteland, colorful characters, and stunning muscle car action,...

For all of the years of buzz and anticipation, not to mention the imposing lineage of legends like “Doom” and “Quake,” the 2011 release of id Software’s open-world shooter “Rage” landed with more of a whimper than a bang—and had little lasting impact.
Given the marketing for 2019’s “Rage 2,” then, it’s clear that id and publisher Bethesda took some lessons from that release. From propulsive Andrew W.K. backing tracks to pastel-drenched, “Mad Max: Fury Road”-esque goons parading around the screen, the initial “Rage 2” trailers show a game that’s trying hard to make a much stronger impression than the original.
As Tim Willits, id’s studio director and the original “Rage” game director, tells it, striking a bolder tone is not only about moving “Rage 2” away from the first game, but also the glut of other grim-looking, post-apocalyptic games released in recent years.

Id Software confirmed that “Rage 2” will not feature a battle royale mode.
During a recent closed-doors “Rage 2” preview event, id Software’s studio director Tim Willits was reticent about multiplayer plans, but did confirm to Variety that unlike the upcoming “Battlefield” and “Call of Duty” games, there are currently no plans to implement a Battle Royale mode in id and Avalanche’s latest shooter.
When asked about the possibility of battle royale, Willits laughed sarcastically, then said, miming writing up this interview: “Tim laughs sarcastically.”
“Our focus now is on creating the best single player game we can with hundreds of hours of gameplay; go anywhere, explore, have fun,” said Willits. “We understand that community is important in games today, and at a later date, we will talk more about some of our community efforts.

“Rage 2” will revisit the story told in “Rage 1” and confirm what happened after the original game’s divisive ending.
Talking at Avalanche Studios during a recent closed-doors “Rage 2” preview event, Tim Willits, id Software’s studio director, confirmed to Variety that while the sequel will continue the story of the first game, players new to the franchise will still be able to understand it, too.
“”Rage 2” is very different from “Rage 1″; it is truly a different experience from the original,” Willets said. “We set the fiction of the story far enough away from the original to give it an independent and unique story.”
“Rage 2” takes place 30 years after the events of the original game, and the world – complete with vegetation, swamps, and biomes – is no longer a wasteland.

“Rage 2” has been a long time coming.
Born in another time, for a different console generation, its predecessor, “Rage”, was an early example of a solid if underrated shooter that blended exploration, gunplay, and vehicular hi-jinx in a way that tried to loosen up the traditional Fps formula. It told a story – something id Software hadn’t done much of prior to that point – whilst retaining the satisfying combat that id, quite rightly, is renowned for.
When news of the sequel broke, I was surprised on two counts; one, that it hadn’t happened before, and two, that I’d – somewhat shamefully – all but forgotten the original Rage had existed. So when I sit down with Tim Willits, id Software’s studio director – both of us drooping a little in Stockholm’s unseasonable heat – that’s the first thing I ask: why is now the right time for a “Rage” sequel?...

Everything you need to know about Rage 2, including latest news, release date, trailers, and more!
Nobody was quite sure what to make of the reports that a sequel to Rage was in the works. While Rage was a fairly well-received shooter, it didn't set the world on fire or establish much of a fanbase for the franchise.
Nevertheless, Rage 2 is now official, and we're honestly incredibly intrigued by what we've seen of it. Developed by id Software and Mad Max developer Avalanche Studios, the next Rage game looks to combine open-world wasteland exploration with the trademark quality action that we've come to expect from id Software games. On top of that is a bizarre vision of the end of the world that includes a large number of themed gangs doing battle over what precious resources remain.
In other words, it sounds like we're going to be getting...

This past weekend, gamers gathered in Dallas for the 20th annual QuakeCon. Those in attendance were treated to new gameplay trailers for Prey, Quake Champions, and the new Doom Dlc, “Unto the Evil,” and all three videos have now been released online by Bethesda Softworks for all to enjoy.
Prey: “Prey is a first-person sci-fi action game from Arkane Studios, the award-winning creators of the 2012 ‘Game of the Year’, Dishonored. Known for their creative gameplay, distinctive worlds and immersive stories, Arkane reimagines this franchise from the ground up, with an added psychological twist. In Prey, you are the first human enhanced with alien powers aboard a desolate space station under assault. Improvise and innovate in order to survive as you search for answers. Doom developer id Software currently has all hands at the pump for the upcoming release of Quake Champions, a blistering arena shooter that is in development as a PC exclusive.
It is, as id describes, a PC shooter first and foremost, and Creative Director Tim Willits told GameSpot that maintaining a high refresh rate (120Hz, in this instance) is the key reason that Champions is currently PC-only.
Hitting that threshold is considered paramount for the studio, and Willits believes that a 120Hz refresh rate appeals to pro players – a key market that id Software is targeting, with the executive even going so far as to say, “if we lose the pro guys, we’re in trouble.”
Per GameSpot:
“It’s everything from input sampling of the mouse to making sure that your monitor refresh rate is fast enough. Because even with Quake Live, we have found throughout the years that going from 30 to 60 is huge,...

Opening Bethesda’s presser with a resounding bang, developer id Software took to the stage on Sunday evening – E3 Day Zero, essentially – to unveil Quake Champions, an old-school arena shooter in development for PC platforms.
Currently, id Software is considering that game to be a PC exclusive in many respects – “no excuses, no limitations” – but a recent GameSpot interview reveals that the studio isn’t opposed to the possibility of one day bringing Quake Champions to consoles. That’s according to the studio’s head honcho Tim Willits, who revealed that id plans “to focus on one platform” for the time being, before proclaiming a “love [for] console fans.”
It’s for this reason that Willits remains open to a console version at some point – “We’re not totally shutting the door on consoles” – just don’t expect it to launch anytime soon regardless of platform. Next up for Quake Champions is a long stint in beta phase: “It’s going to come out after a really, really long closed beta. I’m telling people now, it’s going to be a long beta,”
Quake Champions is without a release date for now, but expect more details to surface for the all-new arena shooter during QuakeCon in August.

After scrapping what used to be "Doom 4" and starting over, id Software are "all hands on deck" for the new project says studio director Tim Willits. As a result, id's other franchises have taken a backseat to the cyberdemon-infected shooter -- don't expect another "Rage" or "Quake" game for a while.

Every game has a spirit," Willits told IGN during last weekend's QuakeCon when asked about his game's troubled development cycle. "And [Doom] did not have the spirit, it did not have the soul, it didn’t have a personality. It had a bit of schizophrenia, a little bit of an identity crisis."

While Bethesda and developer id Software are keeping quiet about the future of the "Doom" franchise, id's Studio Director Tim Willits revealed that what would have been know as "Doom 4" ended development because it "did not have the spirit, it did not have the soul, it didn’t have a personality."
Speaking with IGN's Mitch Dyer during QuakeCon, Willits called the defunct project "schizophrenic," lacking the personality of the long-running shooter franchise. The problems with that project were, Willits says, hard to articulate, but owed to a collection of things that didn't let it match the quality of previous entries in the series.
While there's been no formal announcement of the next "Doom," Willits' comments offer hints that the developer remains in active development of a followup to 2004's "Doom 3." Willits says that for the new project (which he won't call "Doom 4"), the developers have cut any "distractions" from the...

Hopefully you’ve held on to your copy of Rage because, from the sounds of things, the game will be receiving its first piece of major downloadable content sometime in the relatively near future.
Siliconera has discovered a Pegi rating for Rage: The Scorchers, which makes reference to a faction that was only mentioned during the game’s core campaign. Tagged for release on Xbox 360 and PC, it bears a rating for users 18 years of age and older.
While this could end up being a sequel, it’s unlikely. That’s because, prior to the game’s fall release date, id Software‘s Tim Willits stated the following to GameIndustry.biz:
“Our immediate plans, of course, are some Dlc for Rage.”
This is good news for fans who purchased Rage with the hope that it would receive additional content. So far, those folks have only had the option to enhance...

Rage will be true to classic id software titles such as Doom and Quake, the studio has said at gamescom 2011. Speaking to Digital Spy, creative director Tim Willits has claimed that the game offers players "the best of both worlds" as a new IP with traditional first-person shooter mechanics. Willits said: "One of the advantages that id has is that with Doom, Quake and Wolfenstein, we can come up with new IPs and new franchises and have people notice. It's really hard with a new IP to have anyone care what you are doing. "So what's really exciting about Rage (more)...

According to http://BigGameHunterca.blogspot.com, "Rage" is the upcoming first-person shooter video game by id Software, using the company's new 'id Tech 5 engine', available September 13, 2011.
"Rage" is set in a 'post-apocalyptic' future, according to designer Tim Willits, following the impact of the asteroid '99942 Apophis', based on the real life asteroid 'Apophis', which is on track to pass near Earth in 2036.
"...The world is populated by human survivors of the impact, who have come together to form settlements around habitable locations. These fragile homes are diligently defended by inhabitants against bandits and mutants, serving as the player's main enemies for much of the game.
"The player emerges into this setting after being preserved inside an underground shelter called an 'Ark'. The Arks are the direct result of the 'Eden Project', a massive international undertaking in which hundreds of Arks (cryogenic pods) were sealed under the surface of the Earth with twelve people inside each.

Five days ago at Texas' famous Byoc event, QuakeCon, id Software released the first extended trailer for their much anticipated apocalyptic first person shooter, Rage. That trailer has now made its way online and it's pretty wild I must say. Very different than the Fallout series, it takes itself a little less seriously in terms of game play and looks to features some straight-up first person mutant killing mayhem.
Using the company's new id Tech 5 engine, Rage is set for a 2010 PC and console released in a partnership with Electronic Arts.
What little information that is available on the game's storyline indicates that it takes place in a post-apocalyptic world similar to that of movies such as Mad Max 2. Tim Willits revealed that the game is set in a near future following the impact of 99942 Apophis.
The first trailer is after the break. For more information you can visit the newly updated official site.

The 14th annual QuakeCon is off and running, and it appears there's going to be quite a bit to keep id Soft-lovers happy over the coming days. Just got in the official list of events and announcements, and it's packed to the gills with enjoyable stuff. Most interesting, though, is the amount of Bethesda stuff. Even though the ink is still fresh on Bethesda's purchase of id, there's still going to be a heavy presence from the publisher.
