Josh Klinghoffer stepped behind the drum kit for Pearl Jam once again on Wednesday, September 13th in Fort Worth, Texas, filling in for regular drummer Matt Cameron while he recovers from Covid-19. Watch the fan-shot footage below.
The Dickies Arena concert was the latest stop on Pearl Jam’s brief 2023 tour (grab tickets here), clocking in at 27 songs and 155 minutes. Notably, the setlist was heavy on songs from Yield, which is celebrating its 25th anniversary this year. The band played six tracks from the 1998 album, including the second performance of “Pilate” since 2018. They only played one song released after 1998, “Mind Your Manners” from 2013’s Lightning Bolt, and also performed covers of “Eruption” by Van Halen and The Who’s “Baba O’Riley.” Check out the full setlist below.

Oft-remembered for soundtracking “Valley Girl” with the classic cut “A Million Miles Away,” singer-songwriter Peter Case has a worldwide following, but veteran followers of the Los Angeles music scene may have spent the last 40 years or so trying to solve a puzzle about him. The riddle: When Case was a master of Beatlesque power-pop in his role as frontman of the Plimsouls, one of the great L.A. bands of the early ‘80s, was that the real him? Or is he an ageless acoustic-folkie who accidentally got swept up in rock’s new wave on the way to the hootenanny? Because, even with decades of hindsight, fans may still have a problem reconciling these two primary identities as being the same guy.
This is where documentaries like “Peter Case: A Million Miles Away” become valuable, taking on performers who’ve gone through reinventions without attraction elaborate media attention. In Case’s case,...

Nick Cave shared a tender interpretation of T. Rex’s “Cosmic Dancer,” the first offering from the upcoming tribute compilation, Angelheaded Hipster, which was produced by the late Hal Willner. The record will arrive September 4th via BMG.
For his cover, Cave transformed “Cosmic Dancer” into a poignant piano ballad buoyed by a rich orchestral arrangement. The track arrived with a video of Cave and others recording the song in the studio, paired with a montage of archival footage of T. Rex.

Jocelyn Moorhouse with Dop Martin McGrath on the ‘Wakefield’ set.
Jocelyn Moorhouse was shooting the ABC’s Stateless when Jungle Entertainment offered her the gig of set-up director of the ABC drama Wakefield.
The concept was unlike anything she’d ever heard of, centering on the interaction between staff and patients at a Blue Mountains psychiatric hospital, leavened with musical numbers and tap dancing, so she was hooked.
Brit Rudi Dharmalingam plays Nik, a gifted psych nurse in the eight-episode show created by Kristen Dunphy, who is the showrunner with Sam Meikle, produced by Shay Spencer and Ally Henville for Jungle Entertainment and BBC Studios.
The sanest person in a pretty crazy place, Nik is confronted by a dark secret from his past when a song gets stuck in his head.
Reuniting with the director after collaborating on the Seven Network’s Wanted, Geraldine Hakewill plays a psychiatrist, with Mandy McElhinney as the head nurse.

Individually and as collaborators, married Nashville songwriters Buddy and Julie Miller have provided a steady stream of material for artists from Emmylou Harris and Levon Helm to Dierks Bentley and Miranda Lambert to record. But with Buddy also multi-tasking as a solo artist, producer and touring musician, and Julie slowed by years of chronic health issues, the couple have only released two albums together: 2001’s self-titled LP and 2009’s Written in Chalk. While the latter bore both their names, it was mainly cobbled together from Julie’s songwriting demos and...
