- I'm certainly learning all the time, although I don't know if I'm improving. I'm doing quite a bit of medieval and Irish music at the moment, and when you go into specialist areas like that, you learn a lot because it's not easy music to play. A lot of classical musicians think that folk and traditional music is easy to play, but it's actually very difficult to get the real feel of it. Understanding the feeling and the tradition - and communicating that - is much more difficult than mastering the technique itself.
- I was more of a Clapton (Eric Clapton) than a Hendrix (Jimi Hendrix) fan. I do like the blues: it's not something I can play, but I love the culture and the music. The whole history of blues going into jazz and then rock fascinates me.
