Taurean Blacque, who portrayed the streetwise Det. Neal Washington on all seven seasons of the acclaimed NBC cop show Hill Street Blues, died Thursday in Atlanta following a brief illness, his family announced. He was 82.
From 1989-90, Blacque played Henry Marshall opposite Vivica A. Fox and others as an original castmember on the NBC daytime soap opera Generations, the first serial to include — from the start — a Black family as part of the main storyline. His character owned ice cream parlors in Chicago.
In 1982, Blacque received a supporting actor Emmy nomination for his work as the toothpick-dependent Washington on Hill Street but lost out to co-star Michael Conrad. Amazingly, the other three nominees — Charles Haid, Michael Warren and Bruce Weitz — also came from the 1981-87 series, created by Steven Bochco and Michael Kozoll.

In the most least surprising news of the of the year, Stranger Things has been renewed for a third season! I know we all knew this was going to happen, but Netflix did officially make the announcement today, so all of you fans can get up and do your happy dance!
There are a couple of things that were not included in the announcement. They don't reveal when Season 3 will be released, and they don't say how many episodes that it will entail. Those things will obviously come as the next season is being developed.
There was a fifteen-month gap between Seasons 1 and 2, so I imagine we can expect to wait around the same amount of time before Season 3 hits.

The only strange thing would be if you couldn’t see this news coming from a mile away. Netfix will journey back to Hawkins, Indiana — and more importantly, the Upside Down — when “Stranger Things” returns with a third installment, the company announced Friday. If you’ve seen Stranger Things, which, let’s face it, you likely have, you’ve probably had the thought: “Hey, this is a bit like X-Men.” Apparently, that’s something which digital artist/uberfan Boss Logic seems to have thought of as well, as he’s now taken the similarity and run with it, creating a couple of images that reimagine the kids of Netflix’s hit sci-fi show as Marvel heroes.
Unsurprisingly, one picture sees Eleven merged with Jean Grey/Phoenix, as there’s a lot of crossover between the two characters. For instance, both struggle to control their growing telekinetic abilities but could be hugely powerful if they let go. In Stranger Things season 2, for example, Eleven managed to close the gate to the Upside Down, even levitating off the ground in the process. It recalled a similar moment when Jean unleashed her powers in 2016’s X-Men: Apocalypse.

Every once in a while a new dance craze comes along, like the Dougie or the Macarena. On Thursday's episode of The Tonight Show Starring Jimmy Fallon, the kids from Stranger Things helped the host invent some new steps by playing The Tonight Show's "Dance Battle" game. Here's how the game worked: The young actors would hit a button and the show's "dance move generator" would randomly select the name of a "never-before-seen" move that the kids would then have to create. Each name was inspired by the stars' show. For instance, Finn Wolfhard, who plays Mike Wheeler on Stranger Things, was tasked with creating a move called "Toastin waffles" — a nod...

At the age of 11, Brown auditioned for the role of Eleven on the Netflix drama fantasy. “I’ve never forgotten it, because it was so intuitive,” executive producer Shawn Levy tells Variety about the deep stare Brown gives to cameras throughout the show. “That this little person had such fierce power — that’s what took me aback. That same day the Duffers and I knew she was the one.

Last week, “The Crown” revealed that its third season of the royal drama would be jumping forward a few decades in time, and as a result recasting its leads, with the role of Queen Elizabeth II now passing from Claire Foy to Olivia Colman. This inspired the thought — what if “Stranger Things” (a period drama in its own way) pulled a similar move at some point during its run, jumping forward to something close to the modern day? And if it did, who should be enlisted to play the kids of Hawkins, all grown up?
Because perhaps they’ve remained friends over the years. Perhaps they’ve drifted apart. But it’s not hard to imagine strange things continuing to happen to these characters, no matter the time period. So here are our ideal picks for the cast of “Stranger Things 2017,” the kids as well as a few of the adults.

Millie Bobby Brown and Finn Wolfhard play pals Eleven and Mike Wheeler on Netflix's Stranger Things, and their friendship is just as cute in real life. Not only do they always seem to have the best time together, but fun fact: Finn was actually Millie's first kiss. "It was definitely strange. It was, like, my first kiss, so it was kind of weird," Millie told Interview magazine in November 2016. "But then, when I did it, I thought, 'Wow. It makes sense for the storyline.'" In the parlance of Mike Wheeler and friends, Stranger Things Season 2 is the Empire Strikes Back to the first season’s Star Wars, in that it’s a highly anticipated follow-up where the stakes are higher for a band of unlikely heroes. But also because just as Luke Skywalker spent much of that sequel on his own journey, so does Eleven here — which is perhaps the otherwise engaging sophomore season’s only shortcoming.

What better way to celebrate Friday the 13th than with a new teaser for the second season of Stranger Things?
Netflix released the second and final trailer for the all-new season, coming to the streaming service on Oct. 27, and it's just as spooky and mysterious as we expected!
Season two kicks off in 1984, and the people of Hawkins, Indiana, are clearly still horrified by stories of a Demogorgon and the Upside Down.
The new trailer begins with Eleven (Millie Bobby Brown) rockin' a new 'do and eerily walking through the woods during winter, with the cameras panning to an icy Eggo. We're then taken to Halloween night, where Will Byers (Noah Schnapp) sees a "sort of shadow" that haunts him and his friends.

The buildup to the October 27th premiere of Stranger Things 2 is fraught with questions and mystery and, according to show director Shawn Levy, very high expectations.
"It's definitely daunting," he told Entertainment Weekly. "The love for this show is so rabid."
According to show creators Matt and Ross Duffer, their hope is to posit the return of the hit Netflix series as a sequel versus a second season. "When we started describing it as a sequel, Netflix was like, 'Don't do that, because sequels are known to be bad,'" Matt said.

For a child actor landing your first big role is something that can build a career that lasts a lifetime. Let it be known that Stranger Things, the old-school Netflix phenomenon that captured our collective imagination almost a full year ago, won’t overstay its welcome on the streaming service.
Echoing previous comments made by series showrunners and co-creators Matt and Ross Duffer, Gaten Matarazzo (Dustin) told Paste Magazine that Things is likely to bow off the airwaves after “four or five seasons.” That’s a good thing, too – no, really – as it tells us the Duffer Brothers have a specific arc and finite end in mind for the haunted folks of Hawkins, Indiana.
Think of how Vince Gilligan’s Breaking Bad was staunch in its commitment to a five-season arc, thereby allowing Gilligan and the show’s creative team to put a bow on Heisenberg’s crime-ridden saga and bring a sense of closure to those viewers who had spent years quietly rooting for the apex predator of Albuquerque.

Will Byers may have escaped the Demogorgon – and, by effect, the Upside Down – by the skin of his teeth, but it seems the lasting effects of that warped dimension will continue to haunt Noah Schnapps’ character throughout the course of Stranger Things season 2.
In fact, Schnapps’ co-star Finn Wolfhard (Mike Wheeler) even went so far as to say that the opening segment of the show’s much-anticipated return – that is, the first two or three episodes – will ramp up the scare factor. Indeed, ever since the second season was announced, co-creators Matt and Ross Duffer have consistently dubbed Stranger Things season 2 to be darker and slightly more intense than the first, so Wolfhard’s comments aren’t all that surprising.
Even still, if you thought Will Byer had made it out of the woods, think again. Here’s what Finn Wolfhard had to share during a recent interview with TVLine:...

Get excited, gumshoes! Just days after it was reported that Netflix was preparing to revive the iconic globe-trotting thief Carmen Sandiego, the streaming giant has formally announced plans to reboot the character with a new animated series, entitled—you guessed it—Carmen Sandiego. And as expected, Gina Rodriguez will be the voice the titular sharp-dressed villain. But she's not the only star power involved in the new project. Stranger Things star Finn Wolfhard—Aka Eleven's Bff Mike Wheeler—will also lend his voice for the role of Player, Carmen's chief accomplice and friend. In the new series, of which 20 22-minute episodes have been ordered for a 2019 premiere...

Guardians of the Galaxy Vol. 2 isn’t the only 2017 film to receive the spotlight from Empire Magazine, as the outlet has now conjured up a suitably terrifying new image for Andy Muschietti’s imminent It reboot.
Recreating the famous gutter scene from Stephen King’s beloved horror novel – not to mention the moment when Tim Curry stared out from the shadows in the 1990 TV miniseries – the picture in question gives us a fleeting glimpse at Bill Skarsgård as the sneering, otherworldly clown known to you, I and the residents of Derry, Maine as Pennywise. What’s interesting here is that, after Matt and Ross Duffer’s initial plans for an It reboot came apart, New Line has actually cited Stranger Things as an inspiration – talk about going full circle – and the inclusion of Finn Wolfhard (he plays Mike Wheeler on Netflix’s sci-fi phenomenon) only ramps up the nostalgia factor.

You may know him as Mike Wheeler from Netflix phenom Stranger Things, but later this year, the up-and-coming Finn Wolfhard will be tackling a very different breed of supernatural horror in It.
Headed up by director Andy Muschietti, Wolfhard’s character, Richie Tozier, is one part of the Losers Club, who spend their days fending off bullies and otherworldly – and downright immortal – clowns. If early set photos are any indication, Tozier is one of the first children to be abducted by Pennywise, given his face adorned a recent missing child flyer from the Derry Police Department. That’s the small, rural town in which It takes place.
Today brings forth a new, presumably pre-Pennywise look at Wolfhard, who certainly looks the part as Richie Tozier. What’s interesting about Muschietti’s two-part adaptation is that New Line has earmarked Stranger Things as inspiration, which itself took cues from King’s...

Stranger Things season two is currently in production, and fans are eagerly anticipating the return of their favorite characters. There's been a good amount of talk about the series and what we can expect, but nothing that really offers any details on the plot.
In a recent interview with Vanity Fair, actor Noah Schnapp, who played Will Byers, Winona Ryder’s missing son, continued to tease what we can expect from season two. Will will play a much bigger role in season two, and he confirms that it will start off right where season one ended... with Will vomiting out a slug.
“You’ll be seeing more of me. I’ll be there. In the last episode, I threw up a slug, so season 2 begins with what happens from there. There may have been some effect on him. I may or may not have turned into a monster. You’ll...

Last year, Netflix premiered a bevy of new original programming, including shows like “Stranger Things,” “Love,” “The Crown,” “The Oa” and more. Every week, IndieWire asks a select handful of TV critics two questions and publishes the results on Tuesday. (The answer to the second, “What is the best show currently on TV?” can be found at the end of this post.)
This week’s question: What is the best new TV family of 2016?
Joyce Eng (@joyceeng61), TVGuide.com
I feel like the Pearsons are going to dominate this, but the correct answer is the Dimeos. “Speechless” is one of the fall’s best new shows that could’ve easily succumbed to a mawkish tone with its premise centered on a child with cerebral palsy. But like so many of ABC’s sharp family comedies, it toes the line of being sincere without being saccharine, witty without being desperate and inclusive without being morally superior, with finely etched characters, led by Minnie Driver’s ferocious mama bear, who are not afraid to get dark and unlikable.

Finn Wolfhard is known as one of the many breakout stars in Netflix’s hit series “Stranger Things.” But before landing the gig on the Duffer brothers show, the actor starred in the 2014 “Guilt Trip” music video for Canadian punk rock band Pup.
Now, the 13 year-old reunited with the group for their latest video for “Sleep in the Heat,” which serves as a continuation of the “Guilt Trip” story. The song is from Pup’s sophomore album, “The Dream is Over,” and is about losing a pet. Per Vulture, Frontman Stefan Babcock wrote it after his pet chameleon, Norman, died when her tongue got infected.
The video shows Wolfhard as a younger version of the lead singer, befriending an adorable stray dog and becoming its new best friend. The dog goes on tour with the band, shares special moments with his new owner, but then suddenly gets sick and Wolfhard...

Ever looked into your sad empty locker, occupied by a sock and an old water bottle and thought ‘I wonder what Rick Grimes’ locker would look like?’ Well, luckily for you your imagining days are over. Now you can literally see how the other half live, or at least what they would put in their school lockers, if they had them.
Here is a sneak peek of what we believe your favourite TV characters would be stashing in their lockers:
Rick Grimes: The Walking Dead
Rick has been through a lot and as a result doesn’t have many possessions left. This is probably why his locker looks more like the evidence room in a police station than a place for storage, holding his trusty pistol and machete, ready for any zombie action that may be thrown his way. He keeps his old sheriff’s badge on the top shelf...

While Netflix has stayed mum on the rumors, according to TV Line, "all signs point" to Brown once again being a series regular.
Brown's involvement in the second season was called into question in August after executive producers Matt and Ross Duffer confirmed the casting of Gaten Matarazzo (Dustin), Finn Wolfhard (Mike Wheeler) and Winona Ryder (Joyce Myers) for season two, but said Eleven's return was "up in the air."
"We don't know about Eleven," they told Variety when asked about the future of Brown's character, who disappeared with the Demogorgon at the end of last season. "We leave that up in the air."

Kim Rollins showing up is never good news.
She's almost cost Amanda her career, made her look like a murderer, and stolen all her things before.
Yet Amanda decided to take her in yet again on Law & Order: Svu Season 18 Episode 4 despite her complete inability to trust her.
What possessed the writers to think we needed or wanted any more of this character?
Amanda's decision to take her wayward sister in made little sense. She admitted herself that she should probably say No and that she was worried about Kim being around her baby.

Netflix's Stranger Things has been the show of the summer, and as soon as I finished the series, I dove headlong into a ton of articles about it. One of the things I noticed in all of my borderline-obsessive reading was that a bunch of the kids who star in the show are talented not only at acting, but playing music or singing as well. So I wanted to give a quick breakdown of some of their musical acumen in case you weren't aware:
First up, Gaten Matazarro (Dustin). This dude has some serious chops and has appeared in Les Miserables on Broadway. Take a listen to him absolutely slaying the song "Bring Him Home" from that musical two years ago:
And here he is singing something a little more modern:
Millie Bobby Brown (Eleven) has a whole YouTube channel devoted to her singing pretty awesome covers, but I think...

It's one thing to set a TV series in the 1980s; it's a whole other thing, however, to make it feel like it was actually shot during the Reagan-and-Rubik's-Cube era. Matt and Ross Duffer's new Netflix series Stranger Things is full of nostalgic nods to the decade and its pop-cultural products, but it's also uncommonly rigorous about getting the details just right — whether it's the many pitch-perfect music cues, the hat-tipping nods and homages to Eighties movies, or simply nailing the cringeworthy fashion statements of the day (those Mom jeans!
