Paramount+ is breaking up with two recent additions to its roster by canceling the Kiefer Sutherland spy drama Rabbit Hole and Fatal Attraction, starring Joshua Jackson and Lizzy Caplan. Paramount+ is in slash-and-burn mode, with the company removing titles as a cost-cutting measure.
“We want to thank both series’ entire creative teams, crews and the fantastic casts for their dedication to bringing these series to life,” said the Paramount+ spokesperson. “Both Fatal Attraction and Rabbit Hole will continue to be available on Paramount+ for audiences to discover.”
Rabbit Hole and Fatal Attraction join Paramount‘s other canceled series, including Real World: Homecoming, The Twilight Zone, Interrogation, Coyote, No Activity, Guilty Party, and The Harper House. More cancelations hit the streaming service in June, with Star Trek: Prodigy, Grease: Rise of the Pink Ladies, Queen of the Universe, and The Game going the way of the dodo. While news of a second season remains unknown, the actor gushed over wanting Paramount+ to renew the thriller series for another season.
“I absolutely adored working on the show, and I absolutely love John [Requa] and Glenn [Ficarra] and their process,” he said of the series creators in a new interview with TV Insider. “And I just absolutely love the cast. It was an extraordinary group of people, and we had an awful lot of fun working, and yeah, I hope we get to do it again.”
Sutherland, who’s used to filming projects for TV networks, explained the “odd” difference between working for networks verses streamers.

John Weir is a master operative in corporate espionage. But as skilled as he is, there is also a lot of trauma that gets in his way. However, throughout Rabbit Hole Season 1, we see him manipulating a hedge fund manager to sell his stocks based on a fake broadcast, successfully pulling off the Banomar-Group assignment, stealing Miles’s communications data from the police department evidence room, stealing Nora Evers’ case from 1550 Girard, and finally bringing down Crowley. In all these missions, he shows high-level intellect in the way he manipulates people and creates situations to get what he wants. He is also great at cryptology, which Miles has helped him learn since they were kids. But his childhood was accompanied by trauma, as he found his father dead (he shot himself in the face) as a teenager, but in fact, he was abandoned by his father. So, he grew up...

Rabbit Hole, airing on Paramount+, is an exciting addition to the streaming service, especially if you’re looking for something that isn’t written or created by Taylor Sheridan under the Paramount umbrella. Kiefer Sutherland plays John Weir, a private contractor adept at corporate espionage, who more than often finds himself merely creating lies for his clients for them to get what they want.
He and his firm are adept at creating deception and aren’t necessarily concerned about whose lives they might ruin in the process. When his estranged childhood friend, Valence (Jason Butler Harner) hires Weir for a job involving a treasury officer, Ed Homm (Rob Yang), Weir’s entire existence is suddenly thrown upside down, as his team is killed, Valence commits suicide, and he is framed for the murder of Homm by the nefarious Crowley,...

We've made it through Rabbit Hole Season 1 with a remarkably clean exit
John Weir and his new team successfully ended Crowley's reign... we think. The truth is that with as many redirects and false leads the show delivers, even Ben could have mistaken the fella in the chair for his old pal.
We had a chance to talk with series creators Glenn Ficarra and John Requa about that, their thoughts on the season, the finale, and what might be next.
Congrats on a great season and a finale that wrapped up a lot. The misdirects with the kidnapped woman and Madi's wife, and Liv were so well done.
I had no idea what was going on, but when Liv was hardly affected by being kidnapped, I thought she was more than just John's wife. Still, I didn't expect her to be somebody else entirely! How did all of that come together?...

Rarely am I at a loss for words, but Rabbit Hole Season 1 Episode 8 wrapped things up so entirely that this is one of those exceptional times.
If you're like me, you probably lament the possibility of a show being canceled without answers.
Without a renewal, this Paramount+ series offered a closed case (probably) and didn't leave viewers hanging on for dear life if a renewal never comes.
In this case, I'm not sure if that was good or not.
Can this really be all there is to say about how precious data is to those who need it but even more to those who shouldn't have it?
If you were to ask series creators Glenn Ficarra and John Requa -- and I did -- the answer is, well, yeah.
The interview will be live on the site just an hour after the review, so you can see for yourselves how it all plays out.

In the finale of “Rabbit Hole,” which premiered on Paramount+ on Sunday, May 7, Kiefer Sutherland’s corporate espionage expert John Weir goes up against a shadowy criminal mastermind named Crowley who is said to “own” two judges on the Supreme Court. If the plot sound strangely familiar, a quick look at current events will tell you why, as real-life Supreme Court judge Clarence Thomas‘ extravagant windfalls from well-heeled Republican donor Harlan Crow continue to dominate headlines.
It’s not the first time that the plot of a Kiefer Sutherland series mirrored current events: Before the WGA strike went into effect, TheWrap caught up with the actor and producer to discuss how he’s back in the same territory as his iconic ’00s series “24” — and whether he and “Rabbit Hole” co-creators Glenn Ficarra and John Requa want to come back for more. Three weeks have passed since the events from Rabbit Hole Season 1 Episode 1.
Rabbit Hole Season 1 Episode 7 brings us full circle with the scene in the confessional. It makes much more sense now than it did then, especially since John explained precisely what drives his episodes to Hailey.
At this point in the story, as a penultimate episode, it feels like we're at the end of a very long pilot, don't you think?
The three-week wrap-up hit home how little has happened so far in Rabbit Hole Season 1.
The gist of it is that John lost his crew and his best friend, gathered a new, unlikely crew, and finally learned he could trust his father. Looking back, it's been rather exposition heavy, bringing us and the newbies -- Homm and Hailey -- up to speed.
That said, it's been an enjoyable ride. The concepts presented in Rabbit Hole...

As a film and television production desinger for nearly three decades, Emmy nominee Rocco Matteo was no stranger to the spy thriller genre. But when he was hired to design the new Paramount+ eight-episode streaming series “Rabbit Hole” starring “24” alum Kiefer Sutherland, he encountered something somewhat new for him: a star who led with his body and liked to toss caution to the wind. So part of his job, he discovered early on, was to help save Sutherland from himself. Watch our exclusive video interview above.

The importance of a good team was evident on Rabbit Hole Season 1 Episode 6, as John's mental health continued to decline.
The team made great strides in finding an avenue to take down Crowley, but even at their near best, they're not a match for Crowley.
The situations change at a furiously fast pace, and Team Weir is always at a disadvantage.
John places a lot of trust in his team members. Losing so many so quickly has sent him on a spiral that isn't easily recoverable.
And frankly, I'm beginning to worry about Hailey and whether or not she's working with Crowley.
Hailey is just too good at the spy-type stuff and meets too many of John's needs.
No matter what situation they find themselves in, she prevails.
That's in stark contrast to how she acted less competent when grabbed by whoever was manhandling her toward a car when John...

People who have spoken with Kiefer Sutherland — and we’ve been able to do so many times over the years, both in interview situations and on red carpets — know that the Rabbit Hole star is one of the most affable, outgoing celebrities working in the business today. His openness, especially with the press, stems in part from something that happened early on in his career. When Sutherland and Julia Roberts broke off their engagement in 1991, he told us, he expected the worst. Instead, he found himself being treated with patience and kindness, and he’s done his best to reflect those qualities in his interviews ever since. During Rabbit Hole Season 1 Episode 3, you got a much better feel for two of the show's stars, Charles Dance and Meta Golding.
Dance stars as Ben, John Weir's father who set up a faux suicide so horrific that it altered the course of his son's life.
Golding stars as Hailey, a woman John had a dalliance with that turned out to be a setup of unknown origin, leaving John questioning her motives and kidnapping her to keep her from revealing something that could affect his status as a suspected murderer.
Both stars have excellent comedic timing and have been imperative in some of Rabbit Hole's most exciting scenes. They play off of each other and Kiefer Sutherland beautifully.

Kiefer Sutherland may have foreshadowed his new series when he called his 2016 music album Down in a Hole, but the creators of Rabbit Hole needed to come up with a premise and a character that Sutherland would find interesting enough to want to play. The role of private investigator John Weir, who is framed for murder and must clear his name. The idea that his character becomes a victim of disinformation was a tantalizing one for Sutherland, who says the concept really speaks to one of the greatest problems facing society right now. Just like no man, no character lives on an island.
Rabbit Hole's John Weir has many people in his orbit, including a feisty FBI Agent, Jo Madi (Enid Graham), who is always one step behind him, a bad guy who is one step ahead called The Intern, or just Kyle (Walt Klink), and the man John is trying to protect, even if he doesn't know it yet, Edward Homm (Rob Yang).
We caught a little time with them on a recent press day to see if they could shed some light on their characters, among other things. Take a look!
Let's start with you, Rob, because you're alive. Yay!
Rob: Yay. I made it through. I thought it was going to be a spoiler. I thought for sure that they would not want to include me in any of this because then you know that I'd survive.

This article contains spoilers for 24 and episodes 1 and 2 of Rabbit Hole.
Since Keifer Sutherland played one of the most iconic American heroes of television in 24, the established actor has tried to recapture the magic he did as CTU (Counter Terrorism Unit) agent Jack Bauer. With a few short stops on the big screen, Sutherland’s television resume was padded with stints on Designated Survivor, The Fugitive, and The First Lady, often trading in his typical role of saving the president, for playing the commander-in-chief.
Yet nothing matched the audience numbers or spoke to fans as much as his eight-plus seasons on 24. Until now.
While The Fugitive certainly had life or death situations and Designated Survivor had political espionage, they lacked the same kind of intrigue as the Fox drama that started it all. Rabbit Hole seems like a great companion piece for 24 as the twists, turns, and action-centered plot feels...

Kiefer Sutherland is one of the G.O.A.T. when it comes to leading man territory on the smaller screen, such was the dynamism of his performance as Jack Bauer in popular show 24. So needless to say we’re thrilled that not only is he back with a new series, but also, that we had the pleasure to speak to him – for the release of Rabbit Hole, which is available to watch now on Paramount+.
Watch the full interview below as we discuss the project at hand, and his love for classic, ’70s thrillers. He also looks back over his time on 24 and what he learnt from the experience, and what the decision process is like for him as an actor when signing up to a brand new series.

TV has been a source of comfort for well over half a century now. Some people watch sitcoms to ease out of a troubled day, others watch reality shows for that sweet unscripted content. Others, like me, watch Kiefer Sutherland kick people's asses on TV to feel better about life.
Sure, there are plenty of other actors who do great jobs being ass-kickers on television -- "Deadwood" and "Justified" star Timothy Olyphant and "Reacher" star Alan Ritchson and his giant hands come to mind. But there is something about Kiefer Sutherland f***ing people up in particular that is mesmerizing.
This harkens back to Sutherland's time on "24," of course, a rather problematic show that nevertheless offered thrills and excitement on a weekly basis. Sure, Jack Bauer was a war criminal, and Sutherland did a wonderful job portraying the character as a tough and scary guy who could easily mess you up.

Going back to classics like Mission: Impossible and The Avengers more than five decades ago, television audiences have had a long-running love affair with espionage shows. Kiefer Sutherland just happened to be involved with the longest-running one of them all (24), and now he’s starring in a new show called Rabbit Hole. At the end of “Rabbit Hole,” Episode 1, we see US Treasury Officer Edward Homm tied to a chair in John Weir’s basement. Meanwhile, the whole of the New York police force is trying to track down Weir for the murder of Edward Homm and Miles Valence. Weir’s entire team, who were like friends to him, are dead, and he has nowhere to go. At least, that’s what it looks like for now. Episode 2 shows Wier trying to find out who put a target on his back. Perhaps he will find answers at Arda Analytics. He also has to ensure that Hailey is not lying to him.
Spoilers Ahead
Looking For Clues
Special Agent Madi arrives at Water Street, where John Weir’s office blew up the previous night. The fire department is removing the bodies, and it seems that Kyle, the intern, is critically injured but still alive.

“Rabbit Hole” stars Kiefer Sutherland as a corporate espionage consultant who must go on the run after being framed for murder by a shadowy but powerful group, a character that is used to being on the receiving end of punches, quite unlike the character he’s best known for on “24.”
The Paramount+ series pairs Sutherland with “Crazy, Stupid Love,” “This is Us” and “WeCrashed” writer-directors John Requa and Glenn Ficarra. When they pitched him on a series that’s a throwback to ’70s conspiracy thrillers “Three Days of the Condor” and “Marathon Man” and “The Parallax View,” he was fully on board. “I’m so lucky that they called me first,” Sutherland told TheWrap ahead of the series premiere on March 26.

“Rabbit Hole” is a corporate espionage thriller that sends our protagonist, John Weir, a pro in corporate espionage, on the run after being framed for murder during one of his assignments. Who framed him and why? Episode 1 is the mere beginning of John realizing that, despite being in the game for so long, there is someone who is better than him and perhaps hates him.

Are you ready for a good time?
You must be if you've already tuned into Rabbit Hole Season 1 Episode 1 and Rabbit Hole Season 1 Episode 2 and popped around for more.
Nothing is as it seems on this show, but one thing is for sure: it does nothing as it seems with a healthy dose of humor.
And that's my favorite part of Rabbit Hole. It's funny.
John Weir is on the hook for murder and just saw his best friend murdered, but he's got plenty of time for levity.
It's helpful that he's kidnapped his latest bedroom conquest, who was a total plant and may or may not be part of whoever is trying to bring him down.
But is anyone trying to bring him down at all? Probably. Maybe. I guess so.
What I've found is that after these two episodes, I don't need all of the answers anytime...

This post contains major spoilers for the first two episodes of "Rabbit Hole."
If you've watched the first two episodes of Paramount+'s new thriller, "Rabbit Hole," your brain has likely already exploded by the surprising reveal about Charles Dance's character, Dr. Ben Wilson.
Over the course of the first two episodes, we learn some things about Kiefer Sutherland's character, John Weir. Weir specializes in corporate espionage, yes, but we also find out via a series of flashbacks that his father apparently killed himself with a shotgun to the head when he was a boy.
It turns out, however, that the death of Weir's father was a cover-up — Weir's dad is alive and well in the present day, and he happens to be played by Charles Dance. Ben is a major character in the series, and it turns out that Dance was at the top of Sutherland's list to play the part.

You know who I miss?
I miss Weird Kiefer Sutherland. Like the McRib, Weird Kiefer Sutherland was a limited-time-only event that took place between Sutherland’s ’80s and ’90s run as a conventional movie star and then his ’00s and ’10s run as a conventional television star. At the time, I’m afraid many people treated Weird Kiefer Sutherland as an almost disappointing anomaly like, “Man, look how far Kiefer Sutherland’s career has fallen,” rather than appreciatively tabulating all the wonderfully bizarre choices Sutherland was making in films like Dark City or even his one-minute cameo in A Few Good Men.
If there’s anything I admire about Paramount+’s new financial espionage thriller Rabbit Hole — and I wish I admired more about it — it’s the attempt to build the show as a Grand Unified Theory of Kiefer Sutherland Performances. There’s a little Movie Star Kiefer, a...

Kiefer Sutherland returns to TV on Sunday with his new Paramount+ series Rabbit Hole — the actor’s latest thriller following Fox’s iconic 24 and his ABC/Netflix series Designated Survivor. The 56-year-old Sutherland delivers his trademark mix of charm, intensity and desert-dry humor as he plays John Weir, a morally shady corporate spy who finds himself framed for murder by conspiratorial forces. The show tackles the rather timely theme of misinformation and campaigns of organized public deception
Yet for all the intimidating hardness of his characters, Sutherland came across exceedingly pleasant in real life. When our original audio interview file for this story was lost in a recorder meltdown (every reporter’s nightmare), Sutherland gamely offered to chat for this story a second time, and couldn’t have been nicer about it (at the end of our do-over, the actor joked, “I hope to talk to you again, brother, but just about something else!

When Rabbit Hole premieres on Paramount+ on Sunday, March 26, you have writing and producing partners Glenn Ficarra and John Requa to thank for it.
The series follows John Weir, "a master of deception in the world of corporate espionage framed for murder by powerful forces who have the ability to influence and control populations." Read our full review here.
We had a chance to talk with them during a recent press day, and they offered insight into many things, including what inspired Rabbit Hole and why Kiefer Sutherland was always their John Weir.
You've been partners in this business for a long time. How long had you been toying with the idea of Rabbit Hole?
Glenn: Surprisingly, not long. Well, it was about two years ago, I guess. We got the first inklings of the idea and wrote it pretty quickly during the pandemic and sold it, and got it into production.

If you’ve been missing Jack Bauer in your life, Kiefer Sutherland’s latest TV gig won’t disappoint. In “Rabbit Hole,” Paramount+’s slick new action thriller, Sutherland takes up the mantle of a present-day Robin Hood: one who robs the rich with elevated psychology and predictive behavior in order to help the causes he cares about.
Until, of course, it all goes wrong, and John Weir becomes the accused murderer at the center of a massive conspiracy, and is forced to go on the run. And that’s when the real fun begins.
The pilot sets up this premise spectacularly, with plenty of special effects and street shots. Viewers quickly learn about Weir’s paranoid disposition and his traumatic past while setting him up as the skilled swindler you can’t help rooting for. Surely you didn’t expect a show titled Rabbit Hole to lay all of its cards on the table. Deception piles on deception in a conspiracy thriller for Paramount+ from Glenn Ficcara and John Requa (Bad Santa) that manages to find occasional humor in its dense patchwork of illusion. Making a welcome return to save-the-world TV, 24’s Kiefer Sutherland broods anti-heroically as John Weir, a corporate dirty-tricks specialist (“Forgive me my lack of shame”), haunted by childhood trauma, who falls into an elaborate trap that renders him an instant fugitive. In a twist reminiscent of the 1970s’ classic Three Days of the Condor, Weir drags a recent though intimate acquaintance, Hailey Winton (the terrific Meta Golding), into his web. As befits the genre, she may be seemingly innocent but ...

There's no denying that "Rabbit Hole," the upcoming Paramount+ series which stars Kiefer Sutherland, is a thriller with a lot of twists and turns. But what not might be as expected is that the show, created by John Requa and Glenn Ficarra, has plenty of funny moments, too.
"I was expecting all of the tentpole ideas of a good thriller, but the humor was just such a bonus," Sutherland told me in a recent interview. When I talked with "Rabbit Hole" actors Rob Yang, Enid Graham, Meta Golding, Charles Dance, and Walt Klink in the lead-up to the show's premiere, they revealed that they didn't know how things were going to end either.
"I knew a bit about Ben's past, but very little about his future," Dance told me about his enigmatic character, Dr. Ben Wilson. "I was given bit by bit, by bit, by bit, by bit, and it's an intriguing way of working. But when you are dealing with really good writing,...
