You can watch the official trailer for Desert Fiends below, which runs over 3-minutes long and plays out like a highlight reel of the old school practical effects you can expect in this one.

(Welcome to Tales from the Box Office, our column that examines box office miracles, disasters, and everything in between, as well as what we can learn from them.)
Director Tobe Hooper's 1974 low-budget feature "The Texas Chain Saw Massacre" is not just loved by those who embrace the horror genre; it's one of the most cherished examples of truly independent cinema ever produced. Made for just tens of thousands of dollars, Hooper's film birthed a horror legend for the ages in Leatherface, as well as a franchise that is actually still going to this day. That franchise would hit its apex in 2003 with a gritty, bigger-budget remake of Hooper's iconic classic.
Oddly enough, it was "Armageddon" and "Bad Boys" director Michael Bay who got the ball rolling on "The Texas Chain Saw Massacre" remake, a movie that might have seemed like sacrilege for those who cherished the original. But...

Writer/director Brett Wagner turns Big Bend National Park into a living, breathing character in the compelling drama, The Big Bend. The sense of disconnect from the world the landscape offers is the perfect backdrop for the story of two couples forced to confront issues within their marriages.
New Jerseyans Cory and Melanie Price, along with their two young daughters, head to West Texas to reconnect with old friends. The Talbotts live in Terlingua, Texas on the outskirts of Big Bend National Park, but it might as well be on the moon; the area feels alien to what the Prices are used to. It’s undeniably beautiful, but there are threats nearby (including carnivores and snakes) that the Price kids haven’t experienced before.
However, those outside threats aren’t first and foremost on the minds of either Cory and Melanie or Mac and Georgia Talbott. There are unsaid problems in both marriages,...

Week Two of shooting ChromeSkull: Laid to Rest 2 was one of the more interesting times on set. Insane amounts of blood, new faces, and watching a very dedicated cast and crew come together to make the impossible possible have demonstrated everyone’s dedication to bringing horror fans a new installment in the Laid to Rest franchise.
Late in Week One we lost cast member Michael Biehn, who had to depart to film another production in Tunisia, but that meant we got to welcome the awesome Owain Yeoman as our new Detective King. I used to be a huge fan of Fox’s “Kitchen Confidential” so was pretty psyched he was able to join the team.
Which brings me to some new info I can finally reveal. We’ve been doing our best to keep a lot of stuff under wraps, but we’ve gotten our official cast list and synopsis finalized,...

The first photos of Gerard Butler as the Machine Gun Preacher have been procured over on JustJared (via Centerfolds and Empty Screens). The movie is directed by Marc Foster (Finding Neverland, The Kite Runner and Quantum of Solace) and as well as Butler, stars Michelle Monaghan, Michael Shannon, Madeline Carroll, Kathy Baker, Amanda Wright and Brett Wagner. The quality of movies that Foster has been pumping out over the last few years just keeps on getting better (I.M.O) and I can’t wait to see what he does with this movie which, from the synopsis sounds like it could be quite hard hitting stuff. But, whatever happens, Butler will be sporting a mullet!

Next week director Breck Eisner will unleash his terrifying reimagining of George A. Romero’s classic film The Crazies onto audiences everywhere. Dread Central was given the opportunity to catch up with the man who helmed the project to talk about what makes his Crazies so terrifying and what the status is on two projects he’s been attached to - Flash Gordon and The Brood remake.
To ensure The Crazies resonates with today’s audiences, he brought the horror down to a very simple science: Make the threat something we all need to survive. Water.
“To me water is life, and it’s something you just can’t live without,” explained Eisner. “So, what happens when what you need to survive is no longer available? I wanted everything about The Crazies to feel authentic for the audience, not like Outbreak where you have these people roaming around in oversized suits.

Overture Films has released another clip from Breck Eisner’s The Crazies, due out in theaters later this month. It’s a remake of a George Romero movie, but since it’s one of George’s lesser known ones, we're noticing the remake tag is somewhat more acceptable this time around. From all the clips they've sent us we've seen a lot, and if you check out our coverage daily you know we mean A Lot of clips, here's hoping we haven't seen to much...
For all of our "extensive" coverage of The Crazies please follow this link.
Synopsis: David Dutten is sheriff of Ogden Marsh, a picture-perfect American town with happy, law-abiding citizens. But one night, one of them comes to a school baseball game with a loaded shotgun, ready to kill. Another man burns down his own house-after locking his wife and young son in a closet inside.

For those of you unawares, the latest trend in moviemaking is filmmakers “tweeting” their projects online. The folks behind “The Crazies” remake are doing just that, and they’ve just tweeted a new image from their movie. (Yes, I hate myself for using words like “tweeted” as if it actually makes sense. And I hate the fact that my Wordpress edit box allows a word like “tweet” or “twitter” to go unmolested, while continually underlining the word “Wordpress” like it doesn’t exist. Seriously? What parallel universe am I living in here?) But I digress. A mysteriously contaminated water supply turns residents of a small Kansas town insane. Starring Timothy Olyphant, Danielle Panabaker, Radha Mitchell, Joe Anderson, Preston Bailey, Lisa K. Wyatt, Christie Lynn Smith, Larry Cedar, and Brett Wagner. Breck Eisner (”Sahara”) directs.
