Since Ryan Reynolds was revealed to have landed the role of superhero Green Lantern in July, all has been quiet on the casting front.
There are many more characters in the screenplay for the Warner Bros superhero film, as I detailed earlier.
A casting call being sent out to agencies is now seeking actors and actresses to fill four other roles in the story.
Taking this a little further than the official casting call, revealed on Spoiler TV, let's see exactly who these characters are and who might be a suitable choice.
But first, a reminder of the main character. Reynolds will play hotshot pilot Hal Jordan, who is chosen to wear a powerful ring when a dying alien crashes on Earth. With the ring and its lantern-like battery, he becomes the next Green Lantern who is part of an intergalactic corps who are each assigned to protect different sectors of the universe. »

Photo: Paramount Pictures Steve Mason is back to blogging early box-office estimates and has already posterd early results for this weekend with G.I. Joe: The Rise of Cobra bashing the buzz, the negative reviews and appealing to the curiosity of the masses with a nice $22.5 million Friday estimate and what Mason predicts will be a possible $60 million weekend. I added my $57.50 to the box-office total taking a group of friends to the theater late last night but the 808 seats at Seattle's Cinerama were hardly filled leading me to believe the total may be even softer than the $45.9 million Laremy predicted on Thursday, but it looks like Paramount may have another hit on their hands. The best part of that news is that they won't have to rush the sequel into production due to a writers' strike and can perhaps piece together a more impressive script that will take advantage »

G.I. Joe, where have you been all summer? Transformers: Revenge of the Fallen and X-Men Origins: Wolverine failed to deliver the kind of mindless, entertaining fun that summer so often brings while everything else outside of Star Trek has been more concerned with being artistic than enjoyable. It’s strange, scribing those sentences and the ones that will be written considering all the bashing and hate I’ve spewed toward Stephen Sommers ever since he poisoned humanity with Van Helsing. He picked the right year to finally make a decent film; Sommers not only beat, but destroyed Michael Bay at his own game. Yes, as much of a shock as this will be to some of you, G.I. Joe: The Rise of Cobra is not the worst film ever made. In fact, it’s the G.I. Joe movie one imagines when playing with action figures as a boy. »

Still haven’t decided whether Stephen Sommer’s “G.I. Joe: Rise of Cobra” is your cup of tea or not? Well you best get deciding soon, buckaroos, because the film opens August 7. Which, I guess, is still a long ways off, so forget what I just said. Procrastinate away. Anyhoo, here’s the latest TV spot for the movie, which features lots of old footage, some new footage, and a scene where Scarlett is staring at Duke and Ripcord’s apparently naked buttocks and looking impressed. Oooh, for the ladies! Ahem. An elite military unit comprised of special operatives known as G.I. Joe, operating out of The Pit, takes on an evil organization led by a notorious arms dealer. Starring Adewale Akinnuoye-Agbaje, Christopher Eccleston, Joseph Gordon-Levitt, Byung-hun Lee, Sienna Miller, Rachel Nichols, Jonathan Pryce, Saïd Taghmaoui, Channing Tatum, Marlon Wayans, Dennis Quaid, Karolina Kurkova, Ray Park, and Arnold Vosloo. »

A new international trailer of "G.I. Joe: Rise of Cobra" has been put forth through the movie's official Japanese site. Though containing many similar footage to previous trailers, this fresh promotional video does tuck in a brief glimpse at Joseph Gordon-Levitt's Cobra Commander in a single shot when he is seen standing next to Christopher Eccleston's Destro.
Previously, Gordon-Levitt has talked about portraying the character. To New York Magazine, he gushed, "My face is in it. There's this crazy kind of getup that I wear. It's got makeup and it's got all this other stuff, and it's a mask, basically. You can hardly tell it's me. And that, to me, is the best. That's why I love Daniel Day-Lewis or Gary Oldman."
"Actors like that, where they're so different as each character, the actor disappears. Doing G.I. Joe made it real easy to disappear because of »
