- Karl Vollbrecht was born in 1886. He was a production designer and art director, known for Metropolis (1927), M (1931) and Woman in the Moon (1929). He died on January 10, 1973 in Schladen, Germany.
- German production designer and art director, trained as a carpenter. Noted for his impressive constructs for several classic expressionist films of the 1920's, invariably based on original designs by Otto Hunte and Erich Kettelhut, frequently for the director Fritz Lang.
- He got his first film engagement in 1919 and he was responsible for the setting of the monumental serial "Die Herrin der Welt" (1919) directed by Joe May. This was the beginning of an impressive film career and Karl Vollbrecht was responsible as a production designer for popular movies in the next years - often for director Fritz Lang.
- His film career diminished after the war and Karl Vollbrecht only worked for few more movies, among them also several fairy-tale movies for the DEFA.
