It was an emotional day at The View as Whoopi Goldberg reunited with the cast of Sister Act 2: Back in the Habit.
The Oscar-winning star broke down in tears as she reunited with stars like Kathy Najimy, Wendy Makkena, and Sheryl Lee Ralph, as well as crew members from the 1993 comedy. A recreation of the “Joyful, Joyful” choir scene had everyone in their feelings.
Tanya Trotter took over the solo performance in Lauryn Hill’s absence. Goldberg appeared in her nun outfit, joining the choir. Ryan Toby, who played Ahmal in the film, performed with Goldberg’s daughter. The performers were joined by students from the Laguardia High School of Music & Art and Performing Arts.
Following the performance, Goldberg was overwhelmed with emotions and Ralph reached out to embrace her.

No, Whoopi Goldberg hasn’t left The View to pursue life as a nun. It’s the 30th anniversary of Sister Act 2: Back in the Habit, and Goldberg shared something special with The View audience members by reuniting adult and kid cast members of the musical sequel’s ensemble for a spirited performance. For the musical number, Goldberg dressed in full nun attire, reprising her iconic role as Sister Mary Clarence from the delightful crime comedy franchise. With primary members of the original cast, including Kathy Najimy and Ryan Toby, with The War and Treaty singer Tanya Trotter taking the part of Lauryn Hill, the choir performed ‘Oh Happy Day’ and ‘Joyful, Joyful’ from the beloved film. The performance brought Goldberg to tears as the choir concluded their version of ‘Joyful, Joyful.’

Whoopi Goldberg celebrated the 30th anniversary of “Sister Act 2: Back in the Habit” by reuniting the movie’s cast on “The View” — and not just her adult co-stars like Kathy Najimy. Goldberg gathered many of the kid actors who made up the choir in the movie and recreated the scene in which her character, Sister Mary Clarence, conducts them in a soulful rendition of “Oh Happy Day.”
Lead vocalist Ryan Toby, who played the young Ahmal in the movie, returned to sing “Oh Happy Day” with Goldberg 30 years later. The co-stars also sang “Joyful, Joyful” from the film, with The War and Treaty singer Tanya Trotter taking over vocals from Lauryn Hill, who did not participate in the reunion. Hill’s role as the talented choir singer Rita Louise Watson served as a breakthrough for her. Goldberg broke down in tears after the “Joyful, Joyful” reunion performance.

In September 2018, one week before his birthday, the singer-songwriter Ant Clemons got a call from his manager. “He’s like, ‘Pack your bag for Chicago,'” Clemons recalls. “I’m like, ‘Jeremih has a show?’ My manager’s like, ‘He might — but Kanye [West] wants you to be out there.'”
Clemons flew to Chicago and walked into a room with West, Chance the Rapper, and the right-wing pundit Candace Owens. “All I listened to for a while was that Jeremih and Chance Christmas project — I’m in the room with that guy and Kanye West?...

The divas have returned, glory, glory, hallelujah!
If you missed the first season of R&B Divas, it’s a reality show conceived by Faith Evans about a group of, well, R&B divas, getting together to record an album, support each other, and be generally good people (sometimes). Even if you’re not a reality show fan, I can promise you that this one shows more genuine heart than most I’ve seen. While the first season, which aired last year, revolved around the record, this season is set up around the premise of: To Tour or Not To Tour, That is the Question.
The technical title is also now “R&B Divas Atlanta,” since there will also be a new “R&B Divas Los Angeles” airing this summer. But with no offense taken to the City of Angels, honey child, if you’re not in Atlanta,...

Willow Smith is showing off her vulnerable side in her new music video for "I Am Me," the pre-teen singer's latest song. Unlike her previous efforts, however, "I Am Me" is an inspirational ballad for all of the 11-year-olds (Ok, and adults too) who are a little left of center. She's just trying to be fre-eeee, you know?
"It's just explaining who I am and what symbolizes me-like me as an energy, me as a person, just cool and rounded," the 11-year-old superstar explained to Global Grind.
When Willow released "Whip My Hair" in 2010, the mega-cute offspring of Will Smith and Jada Pinkett Smith was dubbed "baby Rihanna". She was then signed to Jay-z's Roc Nation. Unfortunately, after the commercial failure of her third single -- "Fireball," featuring Nicki Minaj -- he album was reportedly pushed back to a late 2012 release.
The pint-sized singer has been criticized for some of her recent style choices.

The second week of live performances on "The Voice" (Mondays and Tuesdays at 8 p.m. Et on NBC) wasn't exactly riveting, but, as Carson Daly states at the start of the episode, we can count on Cee Lo "arguably one of the best performers in the world" to jazz things up.
And he does, putting stilts, light-up masks and shirtless Egyptians in his team's performances. Also, Purrfect reemerged, happily disproving our theory that she was used to make Cee Lo's wig last week.
Too dark for you? Just wait for Christina Aguilera to tear into Tony Lucca and for Tony Vincent's performance.

R&B superstar Usher is at the center of a plagiarism lawsuit amid allegations his song "Caught Up" was stolen from material written by an aspiring singer. Wadena Pyatt claims she landed a record contract with Alicia Keys' Mbk Entertainment label in 2003 and penned the track for inclusion on her debut album.
But according to the legal documents filed in New York, Pyatt was left dumbfounded when she discovered Usher had used it for his hit album "Confessions" and she was not listed as one of the songwriters. Instead, the disc states "Caught Up" was the work of Ryan Toby, Andre Harris, Vidal Davis and Jason Boyd. The song was released as a single in 2004.
Pyatt is demanding damages for profits received from sales of the tune, reports AllHipHop.com.

Back in 2001, R&B/rap trio City High were all the rage around these parts, as their bouncy Fugees-esque anthem "What Would You Do?" provided the soundtrack to the 11th season of "The Real World," as well as appearing in the Eddie Murphy dud "Life." Originally comprised of Robby Pardlo and Ryan Toby — who were put together, "Making the Band"-style, by mentor Wyclef Jean — the boys were soon joined by singer Claudette Ortiz after her hook on the song smelled like sweet chemistry.
The catchy tune was a touching tale of a young lady who turns to stripping to put food on the table for her kid and it rose to #8 on the Billboard pop charts, sold two million copies and earned the trio a Grammy.
And then ... nothing.
The band broke up in 2003 and soon after Ortiz parted ways with Pardlo and married Toby. Both were slated to...
