- In 2002 he and his songwriting partner Roy C. Bennett were honored at ceremonies in Memphis, Tennessee by Lisa Marie Presley for their contributions to her father's career.
- Following a heart attack in the 1970s, he retired to Florida.
- Tepper and Roy Bennett, during their partnership from 1945 to 1970, published more than 300 songs. Among the artists who recorded their songs: the Beatles ("Glad All Over"), Frank Sinatra, Dean Martin, and Rosemary Clooney. Elvis Presley was Tepper's biggest client, even though the two never met in person. Presley recorded 56 Tepper-Bennett songs for his string of movies in the 1960s.
