I don't know if you've seen Turbo Kid or not, but it's one of the most wickedly fun movies! It's like a hardcore, post-apocalyptic Mad Max style film but with BMX bikes. If you enjoyed the movie, you've gotta check out this short film/music video that is set in the same universe. It's called "No Tomorrow," and it's a prequel story that focuses on the character Apple and leads up to the point before she meets Turbo Kid.
The short offers us a sweet and slightly demented story in which Apple's new friend dies and she still decides to drag him along in the desolate wasteland to keep her company.
The music was composed by Le Matos (Jean-Nicolas Leupi and Jean-Philippe Bernier), and the lyrics and vocals come from Pawws (Lucy Taylor). ...

FEARnet is proud to present brand new fiction from Nightmare Magazine. Once a month, we'll be featuring a story from Nightmare’s current issue. This month's selection is “The Mad Butcher of Plainfield’s Chariot of Death” by Adam Howe. Please tell us what you think and enjoy!
The Mad Butcher of Plainfield’s Chariot of Death
Adam Howe
Gibbons swigged from his hipflask, driving one-handed as he followed the caravan of carny vehicles barreling along the interstate toward tonight’s show. As the booze burned through him, he bared his teeth, glaring in the rearview at the tarp-shrouded shape of the car hooked to his truck.
The damned car was supposed to make his fortune. He’d sunk every last penny into buying it. 1960 should’ve been his year. He should’ve been sunning himself down in Florida by now; instead he was barely eking a living, working the...

NightWhere: leave your inhibitions (and your soul) at the door
John Everson’s sixth novel (and first for the new Samhain Publishing imprint) has just been released in e-book form, and for those familiar with Everson’s past erotic horror work (released on the now-defunct Leisure Books imprint), get ready – this one trumps them all. One reader recently tweeted, “NightWhere: what a sex club would be like if it was run by the cast of Hellraiser.” That sums it up pretty well.
The novel will be released to bookstores in trade paperback form this October, but in the meantime, readers can discover its dark allure through all of the usual e-book sources (Amazon, Barnes & Noble, Kobo, etc). Readers can also get a sample of the novel — you can read the prologue for free on the publisher’s site: http://store.samhainpublishing.com/nightwhere-p-6803.html.

Ever the evolutionist, Kele Okereke (the now former frontman of seminal indie darlings Bloc Party) releases his second effort, and first Ep, with The Hunter. The eagerly awaited (and un-awaited) follow-up to his solo debut The Boxer finds him burrowing further into his electronic leanings, but this time mining for melancholia than club bangers. Likely to bring some fans back and alienate others further.
When in 2010 Kele announced his solo career, and its dance direction, it could hardly be called unexpected. Having single-handedly directed one of the guitar driven indie bands of the ‘00s down a path of sequencers, samples and synths with singles Flux and Mercury; bringing it to fruition with third effort Intimacy.
After the initial receptive bursts of excitement and outrage died down, the realization of Kele’s dream direction for his band in Intimacy was met with a mediocre reception and lacklustre appreciation from fans and critics alike.

Blood feuds are as ancient as primordial human history. The Celts (Irish) have killed thousands throughout history. In Albania, 10,000 people have been killed in the last twenty years because of family or blood feuds. Now, Gunslinger, the production arm of Revolver Entertainment, will bring a family feud to East London. When Tanya (Kate Foster-Burns) is killed, Kayla must retaliate for her sister's murder the only way she knows how, by joining an all girl gang. The gang leader Danielle (Emma Hartley-Miller) vows to get vengeance on an opposing gang: "we'll be like them," which leads to even more violence.
The first trailer for Sket is here and the clip is mature rated because of violence and other adult material. As well, Gunslinger continues to create these gang styled thrillers often set in East London e.g. Shank, which just seem to highlight gang violence. Also, the material here seems to...

In the ongoing saga of frontman Kele Okereke versus Bloc Party, we're throwing in with the astute fellas over at SomeKindOfAwesome and calling the whole thing a hoax. Let's run through the recent spate of questionable events:
Kele tells NME he's scared he's been fired because he saw his bandmates meet up outside a rehearsal space. Guitarist Russell Lissack confirms Kele's deepest fears to NME: "It's not really a secret because Kele's been pretty busy doing solo stuff...We were talking about just doing an instrumental thing, but now we might get a singer as well." Kele brings up the possibility of auditions in a weirdly jovial post about the NME exclusive on his blog: "a big part of me is laughing Hard at all of this but another part of me is all like Wtf? im quite curious as to what a bloc party audition would be like? i...

The fall’s spate of big Broadway openings began this week with the official New York City debut of the D.C. transfer of Stephen Sondheim’s Follies. Our critics saw that musical revival, plus three off-Broadway works. Here’s how they fared.
Cymbeline: The Blue-grass infused production of the Shakespeare romance returned to off-Broadway last week, and earned an A- from EW correspondent Keith Staskiewicz. “If you thought that Shakespeare and full-on foot-stamping, washboard-scratching bluegrass would go together about as well as peanut butter and motor oil,” Staskiewicz writes, “you’re wrong.”
The Select (The Sun Also Rises):...
