Vertical Entertainment has acquired the North American and UK distribution rights to action thriller The Big Ugly starring Vinnie Jones, Ron Perlman, and Malcolm McDowell. The film is written, directed, and produced by Scott Wiper (The Condemned) with Vinnie Jones also serving as producer. Also starring Nicholas Braun, Leven Rambin, Bruce McGill (Lincoln, National Lampoon’s Animal House), Lenora Crichlow and Joelle Carter. The film will first release in UK theaters and VOD on July 24th and a week later in Us theaters and on VOD on July 31st.

Exclusive: We hear that Vertical Entertainment has snapped up the domestic and UK distribution rights to The Big Ugly, an action thriller starring Snatch‘s Vinnie Jones, Ron Perlman and Malcolm McDowell. The Big Ugly will first hit UK theaters and VOD on July 24, and then U.S. theaters and VOD a week later on July 31.
The deal was negotiated by Peter Jarowey and Josh Spector at Vertical with Endeavor Content on behalf of the filmmakers.

“Making a personal documentary can consume you. When I started out with just one question — “Why do we exist?” — I didn’t realize it would take me 85 questions, four years, 170 interviews, traveling across six countries, and 450 hours of footage to get an answer,” says Roger Nygard, the director of “The Nature of Existence.” “If I knew what I was in for before I started any of my film projects, I would probably have gone to medical school. Sure, medical school is hard, but you don’t have to create a new idea every day. I decided to self-finance the project, so that meant traveling light and cheap, either by myself or sometimes with one other person to shoot B camera.
