Universal Studios has released synopses for some of their major 2010 films and the two that are especially worth reading are “MacGruber” and Ridley Scott’s “Untitled Robin Hood Adventure”. While it might surprise you to hear this, a few people have told me “MacGruber” is going to shock everyone next year as it’s a super-violent, hard-r movie. Also, I’ve heard there are many lines that we’re all going to quote. Did I mention Val Kilmer plays the villain and his name is Dieter Von Cunth? I know, I know–I am just as shocked to report SNL’s “MacGruber” might be a great movie.
As for Ridley Scott’s “Untitled Robin Hood Adventure”, this synopsis is the first real story details I’m hearing about the plot. Since I haven’t watched every version of “Robin Hood”, I’ll let the synopses do the talking, but I »

Ready to have some fun and a headache? If it actually was opposite day, this news story would read as follows: Oren Aviv, who is not the studio production president at Disney, is terrible at coming up with fun story ideas for Disney to exploit. He didn't conceptualize National Treasure, a film I totally couldn't stand, and definitely did not see in theaters upwards of 4 times. The basic conceptual idea for Opposite Day -- a movie not about a day wherein someone has to do the opposite of their normal daily routine -- hasn't been popular in Hollywood's recent past, and definitely not in movies like Sliding Doors and The Family Man. Disney will not employ Nancy Drew writer Tiffany Paulsen for the Opposite Day project. Paulsen is not also attached to a project that will not be a reboot of the Adventures in Babysitting franchise. That film will definitely not be called Further Adventures in Babysitting »

At the D23 Expo in Los Angeles this weekend, Disney is regaling journalists and fans with scoops about their upcoming projects as well as looks at memorabila from the old ones. They've also used the opportunity to announce the official title for one of the most anticipated movies they have coming out, the fourth Pirates of the Caribbean film. So the fourth film, going into production soon, will be called Pirates of the Caribbean 4: On Stranger Tides. What on earth that means, we probably won't find out until more production details come to life. But Pirates fans can chew on that for now, and decide for themselves if it fits in with the Pirates 4 plot details scoop we got over two years ago. In more minor Disney news, the official title for the Jason Segel-Nicholas Stoller Muppets movie appears to be The Cheapest Muppets Movie Ever Made. »

Universal Pictures and Judd Apatow are in it for the long haul after the studio and the acclaimed filmmaker sealed a three-film deal this week.
Universal and Apatow recently teamed for "Funny People," which will open in theaters tomorrow. He also worked with the studio on his two previous directorial efforts, "Knocked Up" and "The 40-Year-Old Virgin."
According to the Hollywood Reporter, the deal allows Apatow to produce projects at other studios. His most recent producing credits include "Year One," "Pineapple Express" and "Forgetting Sarah Marshall."
No projects have been announced yet, but Apatow will write and direct all three films. His next producing gig is "Get Him to the Greek," which Nicholas Stoller is directing. »

If you're trying to remember what The Adventurer's Handbook is about, let me give you a little hint. Written by Jonah Hill and Max Winkler, The Adventurer's Handbook is an R-rated comedy about four 20-something guys who, inspired by a book of the same name, set out overseas in search of a mysterious location described in the book. It made headlines back in February when Hill sold the spec to Universal for upwards of seven figures. Hidden in an article in the La Times about Universal's upcoming slate is mention that Forgetting Sarah Marshall director Nicholas Stoller would be direct this starting next March. This is the first time we've ever seen or heard Stoller's name attached to The Adventurer's Handbook, as originally it was reported that Akiva Schaffer might direct it, but I think he's a good fit anyway. Stoller is one of my favorite up-and-coming comedy directors and »

Update: Apparently the Los Angeles Times screwed up and Nicholas Stoller is not involved with this project. The Playlist confirms that Akiva Schaffer is attached as the director of this project. Back in February, it was reported that Jonah Hill and his friend/writing partner Max Winkler (yes, Henry Winkler's son) sold a spec screenplay called The Adventurer's Handbook (originally titled Adventurer's Club) for a seven figure deal to Universal, and that Lonely Island/SNL Digital Shorts director Akiva Schaffer was in talks to direct. Well plans have changed. The Los Angeles Times is now reporting that Nicholas Stoller, director of the other Judd Apatow-produced Universal comedies Forgetting Sarah Marshall and Get Him to the Greek, is now attached to helm the project. This makes sense considering Hill starred in both of the previously mentioned Stoller films (Greek is still filming). All we know is that the script »

MTV has posted a brand new video from the set of the upcoming comedy Get Him to the Greek, which will see the return of Russell Brand as his out-of-control rock star alter-ego Aldous Snow, a role that he played in Forgetting Sarah Marshall. This time around Brand has reunited with Sarah Marshall director Nicholas Stoller (who also wrote this film) and co-star Jonah Hill, who will play Aaron Greenberg, the assistant to the always zaney Mr. Snow. Sean 'P. Diddy' Combs will play a role far from his own real life existence, starring as Snow's record company executive and Aaron's angry boss. The premise of the film is that it will be a comedy 'road movie' in which Aaron is tasked with getting Aldous from a gig in London to another show at the famous Greek Theater in Los Angeles. First look at "Get Him to the Greek", a spin-off to hit comedy "Forgetting Sarah Marshall", has been shared by MTV through an on-set footage. The video is hosted by the movie's star Russell Brand himself. He gives a tour inside the Las Vegas set of the movie, showing off people involved in the shooting as well behind-the-scenes footage.
The set visit footage displays a short capture of P. Diddy and Jonah Hill shooting one of the movie's scenes. Through the video, Hill who portrays a fresh-out-of-college record company intern is spotted sitting side by side inside a night club with Diddy, who plays his angry record company boss Sergio.
Directed by "Forgetting Sarah Marshall" helmer Nicholas Stoller, "Get Him to the Greek" centers its story on a record-company intern who is hired to get an out-of-control rock star Aldous Snow from London to a gig at Los Angeles' Greek Theatre. »

Not that I was ever excited for this movie, but MTV has debuted some of the first rough footage from Get Him to the Greek. As a reminder, the movie is a spin-off of Forgetting Sarah Marshall focusing on the character of Aldous Snow as played by British sex-addict Russell Brand. It's written and directed again by Sarah Marshall's Nicholas Stoller and stars one hell of a eclectic comedy casting, including Jonah Hill, Rose Byrne, Elisabeth Moss, Katy Perry, and P. Diddy. We have no context regarding the scene in which we're shown, but it involves a night club in Las Vegas, that's as much as I can tell you. Check it all out below. I was never excited for this, as I thought Aldous Snow was the worst part of Forgetting Sarah Marshall (and why would we want to see more of him?), but this looks even worse »

This may sound like an April fool's joke, but the folks behind "Forgetting Sarah Marshall" just hired producer/rapper Sean "Diddy" Combs to appear in the spinoff to the comedy "Forgetting Sarah Marshall."
Producer Judd Apatow and director Nicholas Stoller are titling the spinoff, "Get Him to the Greek" and will co-star "Marshall's" scene-stealer Russell Brand. Elisabeth Moss, Rose Byrne, and Jonah Hill are also set to co-star.
I've never looked at Combs as a comedian, nor a good actor (except for his turn in 2001's "Monster's Ball"), so I was scratching my head. But according to The Hollywood Reporter, the film is going to be about:
In the film, Combs plays the role of "Sergio," an executive who owns a record label. Moss will play Daphne Binks, the girlfriend of Aaron Greenberg (played by Hill), while Brand plays an out-of-control rocker named Aldous Snow. Byrne will play Jackie Q, »
