As the National Academy of Television Arts and Sciences continues to figure out how and when to finally hold this year’s Daytime Emmys — delayed in June due to the WGA strike — it has gone ahead and announced the nominations for this year’s 2nd Annual Children’s & Family Emmys.
There’s no date yet for this year’s Chidren’s & Family Emmys — NATAS is likely waiting for a hopeful soon resolution to the ongoing SAG-AFTRA strike before firming up dates. But last year, winners were announced during two ceremonies—one focused on creative and technical arts, and the other to performances and programming—at Wilshire Ebell Theatre on December 10 and 11. This year’s Cafe will likely be held around the same time — and NATAS could very well use that timeframe to simultaneously finally hold the Daytime Emmys as well.

ABC’s legendary sudser “General Hospital” is looking to defend its crown at the Daytime Emmys, landing 19 nominations this year — the most of any program — as the National Academy of Television Arts & Sciences announced contenders for the landmark 50th annual Daytime Emmy Awards.
Last year, “General Hospital” was the big winner with five awards — including best daytime drama — as the telecast returned to a live, in-person event. This time out, NATAS first revealed multiple categories Tuesday night via various entertainment shows, and it looked like CBS’ “The Young and the Restless” — also in the middle of its 50th anniversary celebration — had taken an early lead.
But after all was tallied, CBS’ “The Bold and the Beautiful” was actually next in line, with 14 nods, followed by “The Young and the Restless” (13), NBC’s “Days of Our Lives” (11) and the most-honored non-serial, the syndicated “The Kelly Clarkson Show,” also with 11.

The National Academy of Television Arts & Sciences on Thursday revealed Daytime Emmy Awards nominations in the Outstanding Interactive Media for a Daytime Program category. The Daytime Emmys were bestowed earlier this summer across three nights, but today’s nominations had been delayed because of Covid restrictions among the judges.
“We received an unprecedented number of entries in the Interactive category this year,” said Brent Stanton, NATAS’ Executive Director, Daytime Administration. “Additionally, for the second year in a row, we had to do at-home judging and despite these circumstances, our judges reported thoroughly enjoying the submissions and remarked at the high quality and varied presentation of the content.”
This year’s nominees are NBC’s coverage of the 94th annual Macy’s Thanksgiving Day Parade, Baobab Studios’ Baba Yaga and Bonfire, Netflix’s Carmen Sandiego: To Steal or Not to Steal, StreamVR’s The Dawn of Art and Tinder’s Swipe Night.

Daytime Emmys 2020 called off due to coronavirus: ‘It would simply be irresponsible to move forward’
The Daytime Emmy Awards will not be going ahead as scheduled. The 47th annual event honoring the best in daytime dramas, talk shows, game shows and more had been scheduled to be handed out over the course of three nights from June 12 to June 14 (two Creative Arts ceremonies followed by the main event). But even with the awards three months away the National Academy of Television Arts and Sciences isn’t taking any chances given the rapid spread of the coronavirus around the world.

The National Academy of Television Arts & Sciences is out with the drama performer pre-nominations for its 46th Daytime Emmy Awards. CBS’ The Young and the Restless leads the field with 21, edging ABC’s General Hospital (20) and NBC’s Days of Our Lives (19). CBS’ The Bold and the Beautiful is next with 13.
The 2019 Daytime Emmys will be the first since network soaps threatened to boycott the trophy show in the summer over NATAS’ response to their demands that major changes be made to the voting and accounting practices for the awards and the way the competition is held. The threat was called off in November.
The full list of nominations will be unveiled on March 20 ahead of the May 5 ceremony.

"Representatives of several shows in the daytime community raised concerns with how the 45th Daytime Emmys were managed and with some of the broader policies and procedures of our academy," Adam Sharp, interim President of NATAS, tells Soap Opera Digest. "Recognizing that the preeminence of the Emmy as a symbol of excellence is dependent on the faith and confidence of those in the community, we saw a need to make sure that each of those concerns were all thoroughly and properly addressed. We moved quickly to task an independent firm to look into our operations and to do so with no limitations on what they looked into, who they questioned, they had full access to our email system, and to really...
