Robert William Smyth is an American writer, director, producer, and founder of Heavy Pictures based in New York and Los Angeles.
Smyth began his career directing and producing music videos while ghostwriting for multiple directors. He later branched out into commercial directing while establishing his production company Heavy Pictures.
Smyth has written a number of feature films, his most recent entitled "Tusk" a coming-of-age story of a young African poacher turned anti-poacher, and "Colony", a psychological thriller about the nature of jealousy and desire.
Passionate about working with non-profits, Robert recently teamed with The Smithers Foundation to create "Hey, Charlie" an opioid awareness film that he directed, produced, and co-wrote.
He followed this up with the opioid documentary entitled "Empire of Pain" which Heavy Pictures co-produced with Darren Aronofsky's Chromista.
