Zachery Ty Bryan appeared in an Oregon court Wednesday afternoon to face charges stemming from a July arrest, which marked the latest in a string of legal issues for the troubled former child star best known for Home Improvement.
During today’s proceedings, Bryan, 42, pled guilty to felony assault in the fourth degree constituting domestic violence. As part of a negotiated resolution, a second count was dismissed and, rather than spend 19 to 20 months in Oregon Department of Corrections, Bryan will receive a “downward dispositional departure” to 36 months of supervised probation, seven days in jail and he must abide by a set of conditions typical of domestic violence cases.
Those conditions call for no contact with the victim without the probation officer’s approval, alcohol and substance abuse treatment, and no alcohol and drug use moving forward. Should he violate any of the above conditions, Bryan would be subject to serving...

Zachery Ty Bryan is making headlines for all the wrong reasons. Police arrested the former Home Improvement actor in Eugene, Ore. on Friday, July 28, following an altercation with an unnamed woman, according to a report from Entertainment Weekly.
The one-time sitcom star, 41, reportedly assaulted a woman, whose name was not released. When police arrived at the residence, Bryan was no longer there. He was later tracked down and booked on charges of felony assault.
The incident comes nearly three years after Bryan’s arrest in October 2020, also following a domestic violence incident. In that case, he was accused of assaulting his 27-year-old girlfriend, Johnnie Faye Cartwright, and taking her phone away when she attempted to call 911. He was booked on a felony charge of strangulation and misdemeanor charges of assault in the fourth degree and interfering with making a report, Us Weekly reported at the time.

Zachery Ty Bryan struggled to find acting work after starring as eldest son Brad Taylor in all eight seasons of Home Improvement. He opened up about the struggles, and the hard comedown from teen fame, in a new interview that details his child-star past and his present life, which is riddled with legal issues tied to domestic violence charges, DUIs, and an apparent cryptocurrency scheme. Home Improvement starred Tim Allen and Patricia Richardson as Tim “The Tool Man” and Jill Taylor, parents to sons Brad (Bryan), Randy (Jonathan Taylor Thomas), and Mark (Taran Noah Smith). Bryan said it was “was actually really difficult” to land more acting jobs after the Home Improvement series finale in 1999, despite the success of the ABC show. “If you star in a TV show today, you can be in any film that you want, but back then, it was the polar opposite,” Bryan told The Hollywood Reporter.

It seems like every other hit show from the 80s and 90s is getting a revival series, why not add Home Improvement to the list. Tim Allen seems very much open to the idea of reprising his role of Tim "The Toolman" Taylor in a revival.

Former "Home Improvement" star Taran Noah Smith seems to be suffering from a delayed case of child-star-gone-bad.
The 27-year-old was arrested in Los Angeles County at 1 a.m. on Feb. 1 when a cop noticed his 1998 silver Honda Accord parked at an angle in front of a fire hydrant, TMZ reports. The officer who decided to investigate smelled a "strong odor" of marijuana and arrested Smith after finding hash in his car.
TMZ says the actor is still in custody, and being booked for a DUI and felony drug possession.
Smith has mostly kept out of the public eye since playing little Mark Taylor on the '90s Tim Allen sitcom, though took part in the cast's Entertainment Weekly reunion last fall. He's also been a talking head on shows like "E True Hollywood Story" and "Child Star Confidential."...

Look, Taran Noah Smith, go ahead and shoot a nail gun though Al’s foot if you feel like it. Accidentally ram a lawnmower through the wall of the soundstage if it tickles your fancy, but driving drunk and doing drugs? We have to draw the line somewhere. Sadly, according to TMZ, Smith, the youngest of Tim Allen’s be-sweatshirted sons on the classic ’90s sitcom Home Improvement, was arrested this morning for an alleged DUI and felony drug possession. It’s always the quiet ones…with the bowl haircuts.
Los Angeles law enforcement allegedly found Smith in the possession of hash after noticing his Honda Accord was both parked in front of a fire hydrant and emitting a “strong odor” of an illegal substance. Well, it’s like Chinese philosopher Chuang Tse once said, “You cannot speak of the ocean to a well frog, you cannot speak of ice to a summer insect.

Taran Noah Smith, who played youngest child Mark Taylor on the '90s sitcom Home Improvement for eight years, was arrested early Wednesday for DUI and drug possession, according to a report. Smith, 27, was arrested around 1 a.m. in Los Angeles County, reports TMZ.com. Police say he was driving under the influence of marijuana and also had hash, a type of marijuana, in his car. After Home Improvement went off the air, Smith has mostly retired from acting and stayed out of the limelight. "Home Improvement" actor Taran Noah Smith was arrested for an alleged DUI and drug possession early Wednesday morning, TMZ reports.
Cops believe Smith was under the influence of marijuana when he was arrested and was reportedly in possession of hash.
Smith, now 27, signed on to play the youngest son of Tim Allen's character on the popular '90s TV show when he was just seven years old. Though "Home Improvement" ended its run in 1999, the cast recently reunited for a special Entertainment Weekly article in October 2011.
''It was pretty exciting to leave it behind and do other things,'' Smith told EW about leaving his "Home Improvement" days behind. He later started a vegan food company and became an installation artist.

Seeing as though Isis, the Earl of Grantham’s four-legged friend holds the dubious distinction of being perhaps the most prominently featured derrière in the history of opening credits, we firmly believe that it’s high time the writers of the hit UK export pen an upcoming third season episode from the perspective of the eyes, ears, and tail of Downton Abbey’s most adorable resident.
If Tim Allen and Co. are really serious about improving ratings for his fledgling freshman sitcom, we’ve got two words for him: Sweeps Stunt! Translation, it’s time for Last Man Standing to take the most obvious tool out of it belt. That being: A bizarro episode in which Allen’s character Mike Baxter awakens in a universe in which his lovely daughters are replaced by three familiar sons played by none other than… you guessed it… Zachery Ty Bryan, Jonathan Taylor Thomas and Taran Noah Smith.

Today marks the 20th anniversary of the first episode of Home Improvement on ABC. That's right, it's been two decades since we first saw Tool Time with power-tooler Tim Taylor (Tim Allen), Al Borland (Richard Karn), and Lisa (Pamela Anderson) -- not to mention Tim's long-suffering family; spouse Jill (Patricia Richardson) and three children Brad (Zachery Ty Bryan), Randy (Jonathan Taylor Thomas) and Mark (Taran Noah Smith).
EW recently reunited the cast for their upcoming reunion issue that comes out on October 8th. Richardson let the cat out of the bag via Twitter so the magazine published a preview photo. Sadly, the Taylors' over-the-fence neighbor, Wilson (Earl Hindman), wasn't present. He passed away in 2003.
The magazine notes that this was the first time that the surviving cast has been together since Thomas left the show in 1998. It's hard to believe that he just...

It may seem as if nobody but Doug Hutchison and Courtney Alexis Stodden understands their wedded bliss, but more than a few somebodies do. Here are five Hollywood marriages that have costarred at least one teenaged bride—or groom: 1. Jerry Lee Lewis and Myra Gale Brown: He was 22, and a twice-divorced rock'n'roller. She was 13, and his cousin. No, their union didn't play well with 1950s audiences. "It totally destroyed his career," the bride would say one day. At least they got a biopic out of the deal, which ended in divorce in 1970: Dennis Quaid's Great Balls of Fire, based on Myra's memoir. 2. Taran Noah Smith and Heidi Van Pelt: They met at a raw-food party. He was...

Yesterday, the big buzz in the Newsroom surrounded Whitney Houston and her performance on yesterday's episode of "Good Morning America." Houston's run through four songs was equal parts amazing, confusing, cringe-inducing and impressive. It sparked a lot of conversation about Houston's career and the extreme peaks and valleys. As a result, we tapped into the deep MTV Networks tape archive to take a look at some of Houston's television highlights, and we stumbled on an amazing piece of tape: The 1995 Nickelodeon Kids Choice Awards, which Houston hosted. It was an immediate nostalgia trip for most everybody in the office and reminded us of the existence of stars like Taran Noah Smith from "Home Improvement" and the Mowry twins from "Sister, Sister." It also featured some clearly tongue-in-cheek editing, most notably from whoever cut the package that introduced the "Favorite Movie Actress" category. Sally Field was nominated for her role in "Forrest Gump,...

During the successful eight season run of Home Improvement, Williams, Finestra and McFadzean and the show were nominated for Emmys three times.

The Seventh Annual TV Land Awards aired last night on ... well, TV Land, and it was a gay couch potato's dream come true. It had a thirtieth anniversary tribute to the classic nighttime soap Knots Landing (and a warmly received marriage equality shout-out by the show's creator David Jacobs), a typically adept hosting job by Neil Patrick Harris (whose Twilight Zone-ish opening musical number can be seen here), and a tribute to Sid & Marty Krofft that ranks as the greatest ten minutes of TV since Andra's freak-out on Boy Meets Boy.
Unfortunately, it also featured some "meh" moments. There were tributes to a couple of shows I never watched (Home Improvement, Magnum P.I.) and the inexplicable tribute to Two and a Half Men as a "Future Classic".
But all in all it was a great night, and we've got some of the highlights to scorch your senses ...
