LSD experiments, mind control, and the death of a family man are just some of the elements that are intertwined with this upcoming new Netflix series Wormwood. The documentary series stars Peter Sarsgaard and it tells the untold true story of the CIA.
This intriguing six-part series comes from director Errol Morris (The Thin Blue Line, The Fog of War) and it follows the true story of Eric Olsen’s journey to uncover the truth about his father’s death. To tell this story it combines narrative scenes, archival footage, and interviews. I love this kind of stuff, so I can't wait to watch this!

Given the firm grip Netflix has on true crime stories, it only makes sense that Errol Morris, who delivered the genre defining “The Thin Blue Line,” should come to the streaming service. Indeed, the director is taking a big swing with “Wormwood,” a miniseries based on a true story, and it looks compelling as hell.
Starring Peter Sarsgaard, Christian Camargo, Scott Shepherd, Molly Parker, Jimmi Simpson, Bob Balaban, Tim Blake Nelson, John Doman, Hillary Gardner, Michael Chernus, Jack O’Connell, and Chance Kelly, the six-episode series will tell the untold true story of the CIA LSD experiments, mind control, and the death of a family man.

Scott Sheppard’s latest documentary “An Act of Love” follows Reverend Frank Schaefer, who had his ministerial credentials revoked in December 2013 after officiating his son’s same-sex wedding. Though Schaefer had no intention of getting involved in the Lgbt debate, he was inevitably thrust into the fight for equality when his son Tim came out of the closet. Schaefer eventually officiated Tim’s wedding in a small, private service in Massachusetts, but eventually word got back to his small Pennsylvania town and the United Methodist Church put him on trial. Watch an exclusive clip from the film below.

Almost every A-list actor seems to have a franchise these days. In the case of Matt Damon, his is the Bourne series, of which he’s starred in three of the four outings (only missing The Bourne Legacy). On Friday, Bourne is back in Jason Bourne, with Damon back as well, alongside filmmaker Paul Greengrass. After a successful trilogy for Damon in The Bourne Identity, The Bourne Supremacy, and The Bourne Ultimatum, he and Greengrass, who helmed Supremacy and Ultimatum, left for other interests. They’re in the fold again though, making this a summer action blockbuster that’s been hotly anticipated. Saw the film earlier this week and while I wasn’t blown away, I suspect fans of the franchise will be satisfied. Jason Bourne is made for them, after all. The movie is a continuation of the franchise, with Jason Bourne (Damon) living off the grid and mostly...

A brand new featurette has been released for Jason Bourne, and it takes us behind the scenes of the movie’s huge chase sequence which was shot on location on the Las Vegas strip. It features Matt Damon squaring off with Vincent Cassel’s villainous character, and includes comments from both them and second unit director Simon Crane.
The Jason Bourne cast is made up of names like Alicia Vikander, Scott Shepherd, Tommy Lee Jones and Julia Stiles, so there are a lot of reasons to be excited for the movie beyond just this sure to be memorable action sequence. Still, based on past experience, it’s pretty much a guarantee that it will end up being the biggest talking point when all is said and done.
Despite being rumoured for years, it seemed like another instalment of the franchise revolving around the character it’s named after was never going to happen.

Matt Damon returns to the Bourne franchise bolder, badder and more ruthless than ever. That’s what the promotional materials released so far are leading us to believe, anyway. If you thought there was nowhere else for Jason Bourne to run – you’re wrong.
The fifth installment in the series marks a reunion of Damon and his two-time Bourne helmer Paul Greengrass, for what appears to be another pulse-pounding chapter of espionage. It’s that blend of action and thrills that take center stage in this brief 30-second TV spot. Unlike some of the more spoiler-filled ones of recent weeks, the focus is on Bourne’s raw emotion driving him on to uncover the truth behind more secret government shenanigans.
Thankfully, this teaser doesn’t dally too much with plot reveals; it mainly involves lots of punching. Cast your eyes over this newest clip along with a brand new international poster below,...

You have no idea what you’re dealing with. That’s the tagline tethered to much of the marketing material pouring onto the Internet for Jason Bourne, and given that Universal is primed to reintroduce the CIA’s most deadly agent in only a few weeks’ time, we’re inclined to believe them.
Heralding the reunion of Paul Greengrass and Matt Damon as the titular weapon of mass chaos, the studio’s franchise revival is said to be rooted in a post-Snowden world, exploring questionable government surveillance, sleeper agents and much more.
Offering but a small glimpse of Greengrass’ vision, Universal has today premiered a brand new TV spot for next month’s actioner which, much like the spoiler-filled one that infiltrated the interwebs last week, ought to be avoided if you’re hoping to go into Jason Bourne with a relatively blank slate. In short: it features some seemingly pertinent plot points revolving around Bourne’s past as our hardboiled agent leaves no stone unturned in his hunt for the truth.
Rubbing shoulders with Matt Damon’s lethal operative are newcomers Tommy Lee Jones and the seemingly omnipresent Alicia Vikander. They’ll be rounding out an ensemble that also comprises Julia Stiles, Vincent Cassel, Ato Essandoh, Scott Shepherd and Riz Ahmed in undisclosed roles.
Expect Jason Bourne to sneak into theaters on July 29, potentially jump-starting a brand new series of Bourne movies at Universal in the process.

Universal Pictures has played it pretty cool with the promotional efforts for "Jason Bourne" so far. Despite being one of Summer's most anticipated films, there's been little in the way of pre-release promotional material. What trailers we have seen have kept things fairly restrained - offering little insight into this new chapter's story.
That changes a bit today with a freshly released TV spot which seems to confirm some new details about the film which begins with Nicky Parsons (Julia Stiles) looking for Jason Bourne (Matt Damon) and inadvertently revealing his whereabouts to the intelligence agencies searching for him.
Why is she looking for him? It turns out that the Treadstone and Blackbriar programs have a new successor - 'Iron Hand' which she claims is not only in full operation, but is "even worse than before". Keen to see the spot right? Well be careful, there appears to be a...

For a summer blockbuster arriving in little over a month’s time, all has been relatively quiet on the Jason Bourne front. Perhaps that’s because we’ve come accustomed to superhero tentpoles pumping out umpteen TV spots, clips, featurettes and teasing teasers prior to release; or it simply comes down to Universal adopting a less-is-more approach to marketing next month’s franchise revival.
Breaking the radio silence today is a blistering new TV spot for Jason Bourne, hauling Matt Damon’s hardboiled operative out from hiding and into the thick of a post-Snowden world of surveillance and malicious spying.
Bear in mind that there is a potentially massive spoiler included in the 30-second sizzle reel; so if you’re hoping to go into Paul Greengrass’ reboot with a relatively fresh slate, avert thy eyes!

The latest issue of Total Film magazine may include some very interesting new intel on Suicide Squad, but it’s Matt Damon’s Jason Bourne who has taken centre stage on the cover.
This time, that’s the name of both the character and movie, as chances are Universal wants to make it clear that this instalment is about the real deal after the disappointing previous chapter put the focus on Jeremy Renner’s Aaron Cross. Title aside, and Jason Bourne really does look great so far, especially with a cast made up of names like Alicia Vikander, Vincent Cassel, Scott Shepherd, Tommy Lee Jones and Julia Stiles.

Since before we saw any footage of director Paul Greengrass’ Jason Bourne film, we were hearing a lot of hype about a car chase in the film that takes place in Las Vegas. We got a little taste of it in the last trailer for the film, but today we have a TV spot to share with you that highlights this insane-looking, action-packed scene. It seriously looks pretty damn exciting. They spared no expense bringing this chase sequence to life.
The next chapter in the story finds Jason Bourne (Matt Damon), CIA’s most lethal former operative drawn out of the shadows, and he's ready to fight for his life… again.
Julia Stiles reprises her role of Nicky, and Alicia Vikander is also set to star alongside franchise newcomers Tommy Lee Jones, Riz Ahmed, Vincent Cassell, and Scott Shepherd. Jones is playing a high-ranking CIA official,...

Televisa has acquired rights to Scott Shepherd's serialized post-apocalyptic sci-fi thriller novel "The Seventh Day" and have ordered a ten episode series adaptation of the work.
Set seven years after the Strangers decimated the planet and wiped out most of humanity, the story follows Joad on his dangerous trek home to Nemo in the hope his wife waits for him.
The journey with companions he reluctantly gains along the way takes them through a landscape equally beautiful and haunting, mysterious and magical.
Shepherd and Cindy McCreery are set to pen the scripts and serve as showrunners, while Lloyd Segan will executive produce. Subsequent seasons will be based on future books written by Shepherd.

Despite the last one coming out four years ago and earning shrugs from critics and moviegoers alike (as well as being down a central star), Universal is banking on there still being a considerable audience for the Bourne franchise with this summer’s Jason Bourne.
For the spy series’ fifth outing, the film finds Matt Damon back in the titular role with Paul Greengrass (The Bourne Supremacy, The Bourne Ultimatum) back behind the camera – which means it feels like slightly less of a bare-faced cash-grab than The Bourne Legacy. But the fact is no one knows that much about what Damon’s secret agent is actually getting up to this time around. The Super Bowl spot was cool, but entirely lacking in plot details, and no synopses for the pic have contained any information on that front.

The first trailer for the fifth film in the Jason Bourne series, one which sees the return of star Matt Damon and director Paul Greengrass after bowing out of the last one, is coming next weekend.
Eric Van Lustbader, the author who took over the Bourne novel series after Robert Ludlum's death, confirmed on his Facebook page that the film's title and first trailer will be revealed during the Super Bowl on Sunday February 7th.
The Bourne films have so far kept the same order as the titles of the books, which means the new one will most likely be called "The Bourne Betrayal ".
The story will pick up in the present day with Bourne "in a dark and tortured place" and one which takes him through a post-Snowden, austerity-riddled Europe. Julia Stiles, Tommy Lee Jones, Vincent Cassel, Alicia Vikander, Riz Ahmed, Scott Shepherd, and Ato Essandoh also star.

Don’t let the lack of subtitle fool you, Universal’s Bourne 5 is still barreling down on its July release window. In fact, before the turn of the year, lead star Matt Damon revealed that Paul Greengrass’ franchise revival was past the halfway point in production, meaning the studio is likely prepping for post-production and VFX work as filming begins to wind down. But just how extensive will those CG effects be?

Matt Damn and director Paul Greengrass are currently in production on Bourne 5. There's still a lot that we don't know about the film, but during a recent interview with Variety, Damon opened up about where the production stands. In the process, he teases some of the action that we'll see in the movie.
“We’re, like, probably about halfway through. We started in September but they’re going dark for most of December and cutting basically the first two acts. And then we have the third act and then whatever we owe from the first two acts…We were in Tenerife, which is supposed to be Athens. It would be like a nighttime riot scene to kind of start the movie. And then England, Berlin a little bit for about a week, and a little bit in D.C. Then we’re going to Vegas for the third act…Big car chase on the strip.

Set photos surfacing from Paul Greengrass’ long-awaited – and yet to be titled – sequel Bourne 5 may have given us a rough overview of how the actioner is progressing, but Matt Damon has confirmed that development is simmering around the halfway point.
In an interview with Variety, the actor spoke more about his return to Universal’s dormant franchise, all the while teasing its sprawling scope. From Athens to Berlin to Washington D.C., one thing’s for sure: Bourne 5 will retain that series’ globe-trotting sense of adventure.

Spielberg brings humour to the spy thriller genre, while Mark Rylance and Tom Hanks add odd-couple chemistry
Hanks and Rylance are as far apart in their acting styles as their characters are in their national allegiances
“What makes us both Americans?” asks Irish-American insurance lawyer James B Donovan (Tom Hanks) of German-extracted CIA agent Hoffman (Scott Shepherd) in Steven Spielberg’s slickly satisfying cold war thriller. Donovan has been charged with defending Mark Rylance’s Rudolf Abel, a man whose nationality – like his accent – is uncertain (is he British? Russian? German?). The authorities want a show trial, but Donovan is driven by something more: “The rulebook. We call it the constitution.”

Variety is reporting that "Nightcrawler" actor Riz Ahmed has joined the untitled "Bourne 5" film which is currently filming with director Paul Greengrass ("Captain Phillips") and actor Matt Damon ("The Martian") reprising his role as spy Jason Bourne. Variety points out that Ahmed will play a CIA tech specialist who plays a key role in the film.
Ahmed was the top choice for the role, but scheduling conflicts with Disney and Lucasfilm's "Star Wars: Rogue One" prevented him from signing on earlier for the role. Ahmed joins a cast that includes Alicia Vikander, Vincent Cassel, Scott Shepherd, Tommy Lee Jones, and Julia Stiles.
Matt Damon starred in three "Bourne" films which included "The Bourne Identity" (2002), "The Bourne Supremacy" (2004), and "The Bourne Ultimatum" (2007), which grossed a total of $1 billion at the worldwide box-office. Actor Jeremy Renner ("American Hustle") starred in the spin-off, "The Bourne Legacy", in 2012 with writer-director Tony Gilroy, who co-wrote all three "Bourne" films.

Steven Spielberg shot this dramatic thriller on location in New York and Berlin last year. It's written, by Joel and Ethan Coen from an original script by Matt Charman, from the point-of-view of a lawyer thrust into the Cold War when the CIA tasks him to negotiate the release of a captured American U-2 pilot. This is Spielberg and Hanks' first pairing in over a decade, since 2004's "The Terminal." Together they have created some glorious awards pictures, such as "Saving Private Ryan" in 1998. Spielberg also brings Tony-winning thesp Mark Rylance, Scott Shepherd, Amy Ryan, Sebastian Koch and Alan Alda into his arsenal for this DreamWorks/Fox 2000 release, which hits October 16, 2015. John Williams will not be scoring a Steven Spielberg movie for the first time since 1985.
DreamWorks Pictures confirmed that Spielberg's upcoming Bridge of Spies will not be composed by the 83-year-old.
Spielberg's long-time collaborator Williams has composed the score for all but one of his films. The last project he didn't compose the score for was The Colour Purple.
Skyfall and American Beauty's Thomas Newman will step in to compose the Cold War thriller, after Williams had to pull out.
"John Williams' schedule was interrupted and he was unavailable to score the film due to a minor health issue, now corrected," the studio said in a statement.
However, DreamWorks added that Williams will collaborate with Spielberg once again for his upcoming Roald Dahl adaptation The Bfg.
Bridge of Spies sees Tom Hanks star as an American lawyer, tasked with helping the CIA with the release of a pilot captured in the Soviet Union.

While some of us would see the act of a Reverend officiating at the marriage of his gay son and partner as beautiful, others might not have the same opinion, and through this real life ‘act of love,’ Rev. Frank Schaefer went from being a small town minister to speaking out as an activist for Lgbt people and causes. A new documentary examines Schaefer’s journey and has gained a popular television star as a supporter.
Schaefer, a Minister at a United Methodist Church, performed his son’s marriage in December 2013 and was subsequently convicted in a church trial and stripped of his credentials. However, instead of letting the controversy quiet him, Rev. Schaefer became vigilante in spreading news of the injustice on a multitude of news outlets, including appearances on The View, CNN, MSNBC and the CBS Evening News.

The ghosts of great Danes past haunt the Wooster Group's intellectually satisfying but distant and forensic Hamlet
It begins undramatically: an actor ambles on stage and announces that we're going to watch footage of Richard Burton's 1964 Broadway version of Hamlet. But things quickly go awry. The images on the huge video screen behind him wobble and tremble, black-and-white figures slither hazily in and out of focus. Burton's voice leaps from nowhere, and seems to fill the theatre. This isn't so much a screening, we gather, as a seance. Perhaps an exorcism.
The Wooster Group's adaptation of Hamlet, first seen in 2006 and now at the Edinburgh international festival, isn't the first to go heavy on the ghouls – playing the Dane in 1980, Jonathan Pryce summoned his father's Ghost from somewhere inside his digestive system – but it must be the most icily self-aware. Members of the influential New York ensemble explain what prompted them finally to tackle the bard – and why Richard Burton's 1964 version was an inspiration
Before Punchdrunk, or Complicite, or Forced Entertainment, or any other experimental theatre company you can name, there was New York's Wooster Group, an avant-garde ensemble legendary not just for the work it has made since the 1970s, but also for the love affairs and betrayals that have coloured its history. As former member Willem Dafoe has put it: "You become accomplices in life. There's a terrific power in that. The other side is, there's no place to run."
Since 1974 the company has worked out of the Performing Garage in Soho – a Manhattan neighbourhood once characterised by derelict lofts and heroin dealers and now given over to Prada boutiques and cupcake-centric cafes. This year they're bringing one of their most successful shows ever – a remixed Hamlet...
