10. Jack Shephard from Lost
Sometimes, in an attempt to give a character some personality flaws, writers outdo themselves and turn an initially likable character into an obnoxious one. Lost’s Jack Shephard is a prime example: while he’s supposed to be a hero, what he really is is a frustratingly entitled manchild who just can’t quit whining for the life of him.
9. Rita Bennett from Dexter
For many people, overly dramatic characters have always been a bane of any show they were in, and we totally get it. Dexter is great, but Rita Bennett’s whiny drama queen attitude was a real killjoy for many fans, and some even claim they were glad when Rita was “finally” killed off and they could keep enjoying the show without her.

There are plenty of TV characters who are famous for lasting way longer than they were supposed to. If you're ever in any kind of trivia game, the fact that Jesse in "Breaking Bad" was supposed to die in season 1 will probably come in handy; similarly, Jack Shephard was supposed to die in the pilot of "Lost." But NoHo Hank (Anthony Carrigan) is on a whole other level: not only was he also supposed to get killed off in the pilot episode of "Barry," but realistically he probably should've died multiple times throughout each season so far. Everyone else on the show suffers from the natural consequences of their actions, but Hank charmingly slithers away from those consequences every time.
The first episode of "Barry" season 4 shows Hank enjoying the rewards of his latest escape from certain death, chilling in a nice house with his boyfriend Cristobal (Michael Irby), both...

There was a time in which actors were unable to alternate between film and TV projects. But as TV has become more cinematic, and blockbuster films have become more serialized, the two art forms have essentially met in the middle. As such, many fans of Michelle Rodriguez might forget she appeared in a key role on the ABC drama Lost. As it turns out, Rodriguez joins much of the show’s fan base in being disappointed with the way it ended.

ABC’s classic genre hit Lost is remembered fondly in the annals of TV for many reasons. The J.J. Abrams co-created series (that was eventually shepherded by Damon Lindelof and Carlton Cuse) understood the fundamentals of its storytelling mission well. The characters were satisfyingly complicated, the philosophy was on point, and the mysteries were intriguing.
And *whispers* guess what: the ending was good. But we can argue that particular point some other day. Because right now, it’s time to talk about another, and perhaps the most important, reason why Lost was remembered fondly: its dedication to near constant shocking twists and turns.
As an episodic TV series in the mid-2000s, before the streaming binge model took off, Lost needed a way to keep viewers interested in returning for its sprawling sci-fi saga week after week. And the formula it...

J.R.R. Tolkien fans are finally getting to return to Middle-earth after the conclusion of Peter Jackson's franchise. Amazon Prime Video's "The Lord of the Rings: The Rings of Power" is set many generations before Frodo Baggins (Elijah Wood) and the Fellowship set out on their quest to destroy the One Ring and bring down the dark lord, Sauron. "The Lord of the Rings" and "The Hobbit" trilogies take place within the Third Age of Middle-earth, but "The Rings of Power" goes back to the Second Age. We finally get to see how Sauron rose to power the first time and the creation of the rings themselves.
"The Rings of Power" features some familiar characters from "The Lord of the Rings." We get to see younger versions of Elrond (Robert Aramayo) and Galadriel (Morfydd Clark), who were originally played by Hugo Weaving and Cate Blanchett, respectively. These characters are very different from who they become.

[Warning: The below contains Major spoilers for Last Light Season 1, Episode 1, “The Dawning.”] Peacock‘s new series Last Light is marking a big milestone for star Matthew Fox as it’s the actor’s first TV role since Lost more than ten years ago. While he made an impression on viewers as Jack Shephard in the former ABC drama, Fox is taking on the new role of Andy Yeats, a petro-chemist who is put to the task of identifying the problem with tainted oil, something that the world is highly dependent upon. As is seen in the opening episode, disruptions in the world’s oil supply make way for a chain reaction of problems. (Credit: Courtesy of MGM Television/NBCU/Peacock) Adding an extra layer of drama, when dragged to the Middle East on a business trip to identify this problem, Andy is also separated from his family who are going through a situation of their own.

Matthew Fox played Jack Shephard on "Lost" from 2004 to 2010, winning Golden Globe and Primetime Emmy nominations for his performance. Since then, he went on to appear in a number of feature films but retired in 2015 following appearances in the movies "Extinction" and "Bone Tomahawk."
Now the actor is returning to the small screen for "Last Light," a limited series about the collapse of the global oil industry that premieres on Peacock on Sept. 8. Fox explained his decision to return to acting in a Sept. 5 interview with The Hollywood Reporter. "I was very much attracted to the backdrop in which the story is set, the oil crisis, with this beautiful family unit separated by the crisis and trying to get back together and be reunited," he said, adding that he was also excited to work alongside manager and producer Bill Choi. "He's just become a very close, very good friend, and...

From 2004 to 2010, Matthew Fox was at the center of one of the biggest shows on television. As spinal surgeon Jack Shephard, Fox was the leader of a group of island-locked survivors on "Lost." Then he stopped acting.
Fox has appeared in a few roles since "Lost" bowed out with a polarizing series finale in 2010, including in "Alex Cross" and "World War Z." But the actor hasn't been seen on screen since 2015, when he played John Brooder in the cannibal horror-Western crossover "Bone Tomahawk." Why has he been gone so long, and when can fans expect...

This article contains spoilers for Big Sky episode 1.
The David E. Kelley-produced crime drama Big Sky premiered its first episode Tuesday night on ABC. Due to the ongoing coronavirus pandemic, it’s thus far the first and only new pilot from ABC this fall season. And as you may have heard by now, it concludes with one hell of a bang.
The series is set in “big sky” country in Montana and finds two young teenage girls, Grace and Danielle being abducted by a creepy trucker. That puts Danielle’s boyfriends estranged parents, Jenny Hoyt (Katherine Winnick) and Cody Hoyt (Ryan Phillippe) on the case to find them along with their P.I. pal Cassie Dewell (Kylie Bunbury).
Of course, as episode one reveals, it looks as though Jenny and Cassie will be the only two pursuing the case of the missing young women as Cody Hoyt is now indisposed.

As recently as 10 years ago, it was almost unheard of — and certainly atypical — for a TV show to deliver fewer than 22 episodes in a season. But now? People seem to be Ok with, if not outright embracing, markedly shorter seasons. Is that because there is so much TV to consume, or because we value, as the saying goes, “Quality over quantity”?

Not long after being stranded on a super-strange island, Lost‘s Kate Austen found herself drawn to two very different men — do-right Dr. Jack Shephard and a scalawag named “Sawyer” (aka James Ford).
Those who stuck with Lost to the very end know who Kate was with as the ABC series drew to a close, but was that the right choice?
The Case For Jack | Soon after meeting “cute” in the wake of the plane crash, as Kate received a crash course in suturing, she and Jack were entangled by trust issues — starting with the fact that she hadn’t...

Matthew Fox, nominated in 2006 for a Golden Globe and in 2010 for an Emmy for his portrayal of Dr. Jack Shephard on the hugely successful and still beloved supernatural series “Lost,” chose to live quietly with his family outside the hullabaloo of Hollywood in a custom-built contemporary residence inside the gates of a private enclave at the prosperous western outskirts of sleepy Bend, Ore, that, as was first sussed out by our celebrity property gossip pals at Realtor.com, is now up for sale at $4 million.
