About a month ago I posted promo photos for the upcoming season 8 premiere of 24 (which is set to air over two nights on January 17th and January 18th). Fox has now released more, including shots with newcomer Freddie Prinze Jr. I don't mind Freddie, but I rarely see him in any dramatic (sorry, I Know What You Did Last Summer doesn't count), so I'm interested to see how he fares in 24.
Series Returns with Two-Hour Premiere Event Sunday, January 17, on Fox
Katee Sackhoff, Freddie Prinze Jr., Mykelti Williamson, John Boyd, Jennifer Westfeldt and Chris Diamantopoulos have joined the cast of 24 for the series’ eighth season. The Emmy Award-winning drama starring Kiefer Sutherland returns for its next astonishing day with a two-night, four-hour premiere beginning Sunday, Jan. 17 (9:00-11:00 Pm Et/Pt) on Fox.
Season Eight will unfold in New York City amidst the shadows of the Statue of Liberty and the United Nations. »

A short 30-second TV spot for the upcoming season of awesome (read: 24) was picked up by SpoilerTV today and it shows exactly what we’ve come to expect from the season: intensity and action.
Titled “The World Hangs in the Balance,” this trailer brings the power and energy as well as some looks at the new characters that the previous 24 Season 8 trailer from October didn’t show. That one focused on the story and is a must-watch as well.
Check out the new teaser below.
Season 8 (Day 8 as it’s also known as) follows the immortal Jack Bauer getting pulled into a fight against an assassination scheme made public during a peace conference between President Allison Taylor (Cherry Jones reprises the the role from last season) of the United States and President Omar Hassan (played by Anil Kapoor from Slumdog Millionaire) of the fictional Islamic Republic of Kamistan.

The location of CTU isn't the only thing that's changed when 24 premieres its eighth season on January 17.
The terrorist-fighting organization has also found a new boss: Brian Hastings, played by Mykelti Williamson. The actor, still best known for his role as Forest Gump's Bff, spoke to TV Addict this week about his character on the Fox drama...
On Hastings: “He’s an a**hole! Well, at least for a while, but then he’ll surprise the audience by doing something redeeming so he can be an a**hole again later on.”
On the character's future: "Should Hastings be eliminated at some point before the season is over, then I know they [the writers] have done what’s best. These people in the midst of this process know exactly what they’re doing and to second guess them is foolish. I’m just happy to roll with the punches as long as it works for the show. »

Katee Sackhoff will join the long line of celebrities that are taking a stab at comic books, a medium that Hollywood seems to be more in love with than “traditional” literature. Along with Rosario Dawson, Tyrese Gibson and Rashida Jones, Sackhoff will be teaming up with a co-writer named Sxv’leithan Essex on a comic book called Versus, which in a recent interview with TV Guide Magazine, she said would be announced at next year’s San Diego Comic-Con.
In the interview, Sackhoff also explained her love for much of Jeph Loeb’s comic work, and in particular just about everything he’s done with Superman. Sackhoff didn’t have much to say about a publisher, artist, or when we could expect to see the book hit shelves, but she assured that all will be revealed next year in San Diego.

Fox released these promo images from the upcoming eighth season of their action-adventure show “24″ earlier this month, but you know that old mantra, better late than never. So, here are promo images from Season 8 of “24″, featuring Jack Bauer in the Big Apple trying to save that guy from “Slumdog Millionaire” from getting an RPG shot up his buttocks. Hey, it’s a thankless job, but someone’s gotta do it. Keifer Sutherland, Mary Lynn Rajskub, Elisha Cuthbert, Cherry Jones, and Annie Wersching return from Season 7. They are joined by new victims — er, I mean, castmembers — Anil Kapoor, Katee Sackhoff, Freddie Prinze Jr., Mykelti Williamson, John Boyd, and Chris Diamantopoulos. Day 8 commences January 17, 2010 with a 2-hour premiere. »

When last we reported on actress Katee Sackhoff, the former Starbuck was rumored to be picking up a healthy pile of Typhoid Mary comics and dropping hints at a possible Marvel Comics movie role. Now it appears the "Battlestar Galactica" alum and mystery star in the upcoming season of Fox's "24," is switching gears from actor to author as the co-writer behind an upcoming comic book project.
Sackhoff told TV Guide last week that she'd be announcing a new project entitled, "Versus" with co-creator and screenwriter Sxv'Leithan Essex at next summer's San Diego Comic-Con International.
Apparently her multiple convention appearances have rubbed off on the actress, who shared a few of her earliest comic book reading memories and noted a potential writing influence.
“I grew up reading 'Betty & Veronica,” Sackhoff told TV Guide. “I was obsessed with it. Every time that we would go on an airplane or on a car »

Battlestar Galactica actress Katee Sackhoff is to launch her own comic book.
Sackhoff, who plays Captain Kara 'Starbuck' Thrace in the space series, has penned the title with writer/production designer friend Sxv'Leithan Essex but says she isn't ready to disclose details of what the comic will be about.
She told TVGuide: "I'm launching my own comic book that we're getting ready to debut at Comic-Con next year. It's called Versus. I wrote it with my friend Sxv'Leithan Essex. We're very excited."
The 29-year-old, who has joined the cast of 24, added: "I grew up reading [the comic book] Betty & Veronica. I was obsessed with it.
"I was always a Betty, because I felt like identified with her but at the same time Veronica kicked ass, right?"
"Every time that we would go on an airplane or on a car trip I would go and get them and now I've become a fan of just the genre in general. »

I don’t know how I missed Robot Chicken when it debuted several years back. I heard the buzz, I saw the ads in the comics and still, I somehow never got around to watching. When the Cartoon Network sent over their second Star Wars Special for review, I finally indulged and was delighted.
Now, they sent over the two-disc set collecting the complete fourth season, which goes on sale Tuesday, and watched with great delight. The season, which ran from December 7, 2008 through December 6 (last week!), has 20 episodes and the set also includes The Robot Chicken Full-Assed Christmas Special.
The show is a riotous tour through the pop culture zeitgeist, presuming the viewers know the players from Tila Tequila to the torturous relationship between Thor and Loki. Many of the episodes are loosely connected vignettes while others feel entirely like a collection of whatever was finished in time got included. »

The Dish Rag caught up with "Battlestar Galactica" star Katee Sackhoff at the Hfpa Young Hollywood party Tuesday night. The actress talked with us about the fast pace of her new role on "24, being engaged to Freddie Prinze Jr. (on the show, people) and her plan to drink wine and watch the Golden Globes in January from the comfort of her own home.
Can we come over?
Starbuck -- er -- Sackhoff says that "24" is a less time-consuming gig than "BSG" and calls the suspenseful show, "a well-oiled machine."
"I'm like the new computer analyst boss (Dana Walsh) of Chloe (Mary Lynn Rajskub) and I'm engaged to Freddie Prinze Jr.," she says. "Its a good life on '24' right now."
The entire cast has been "great" to the pretty blonde newcomer. "They welcome you with open arms and say, 'I hope you don't die.'"

Alfre Woodard's daughter Mavis Spencer is golden.
Hollywood Foreign Press Association President Philip Berk named Mavis Miss Golden Globe for 2010 at Tuesday (Dec. 8) night's Golden Globes Salute Young Hollywood party held at Nobu restaurant in Los Angeles and sponsored by InStyle.
Mavis will join host Ricky Gervais at the Golden Globes awards ceremony Jan. 17. Miss Golden Globe traditionally helps during the ceremony in an honorary role. Previous honorees include Melanie Griffith, Linda Evans, Laura Dern, Joely Fisher and Rumer Willis.
"It means a lot to me as a young person to be a part of something with such a rich history," Mavis says. "I know how my mom feels when she brings home a statue. And to hand someone a token of their accomplishments when they're elated will just be really cool. I have memories of my mom traipsing off to the Globes, but this year she's with me! »

When Katee Sackhoff guest-starred a couple weeks ago on The Big Bang Theory, the CBS show enjoyed its highest ratings of all-time.
With that in mind, the pressure is on Danica McKellar.
The former Wonder Years star - who played Kevin’s longtime girlfriend, Winnie Cooper - has actually grown into a best-selling author of math books. Therefore, is there a better sitcom on which for her to guest star than this one?
She'll appear on the January 11 episode.
“I play Abby, a grad student at Cal Tech," McKellar said. "She's the love interest for one of the characters.”
The actress has appeared on a pair of How I Met Your Mother episodes over the last few years. In the interest of full disclosure, I was madly in love with her when I was 13. »

Freddie Prinze Jr and Slumdog Millionaire star Anil Kapoor will also be joining the 24 cast for season eight
Jack Bauer's back! And unlike last time round, production hasn't been interrupted by a pesky writers' strike! Excuse me for a second - spoiler alert! - that's better, it turns out suggestions of Jack's imminent demise were premature. Frankly, after season seven's lacklustre efforts he could do with a change of scene and - ta-dah! - he's relocated to New York. That's the good news. The bad news is that star and co-executive producer Kiefer Sutherland says "season seven and eight are really connected together". "The storylines from season seven really do play all the way through into season eight," he adds. Oh. Never mind. Back to the good news, and Battlestar Galactica's Katee Sackhoff will be joining the cast, along with Freddie Prinze Jr and Anil Kapoor from Slumdog Millionaire. »

If it’s December (or thereabouts), it must be one more month before Jack Bauer invades TV screens again. Yup, that’s right, ladies and gents, Bauer and company (and a newly resurrected CTU) returns to save the day January 2010. Check out three new promo spots for the upcoming Season 8. I gotta admit, after Season 7, I was a little down on the show, but it sure looks like transplanting the action from L.A. to New York has given the show a whole new vitality it hasn’t had in a while. Returning players include Kiefer Sutherland as Jack Bauer, Mary Lynn Rajskub as Chloe O’Brian, Annie Wersching as Renee Walker, and Cherry Jones as President Allison Taylor. Also back, Gregory Itzin as the scheming former Prez Charles Logan. They’re joined by Mykelti Williamson as the head of CTU New York, Katee Sackhoff as CTU agent Dana Walsh, »
