2016 movie still trailing Michael Moore, Al Gore 2016 Obama's America, Dinesh D'Souza and John Sullivan's anti-Obama documentary, has surpassed the concert movie Katy Perry: Part of Me to become the second highest-grossing non-fiction film released in North America in 2012. By Sunday evening, D'Souza and Sullivan's right-wing doc -- current cume according to the web site Box Office Mojo stands at an estimated $27.66 million (as of Wed., September 13) -- should have also surpassed the nature doc Chimpanzee ($28.97 million) to become the year's top documentary in the United States and Canada. Worldwide, 2016 -- a 100% domestic sleeper hit like, say, the Tyler Perry movies (which have no audience overseas) -- remains behind both Chimpanzee (another domestic-only release) and Katy Perry: Part of Me. (Please scroll down for more details about the box-office performances of non-fiction films worldwide both in 2012 and "all-time.") As per numerous box-office reports, as the sixth biggest non-fiction film ever (or rather,...

Preliminary rumblings about a new series called "Revelations" came across our desk as this week wound down, and while it has similarities to "The Walking Dead", there's a slight religious aspect to the show, and instead of a zombie outbreak, there are demons... with a definite agenda.
The story follows a particular two survivors, played by Marlene Mc'Cohen (Vampire Boys, Alice in Murderland) and Cuyle Carvin (Assault of the Sasquatch, Blood Moon), and their attempt to get out of town, find other survivors, and seek some kind of safety - which may or may not exist. The creator of the project is Robert Michael Ryan, co-writer, producer, and co-star of 2009's Necrosis.
The producers have promised a lot more info over the coming weeks so keep it here for updates. In the meantime check out a behind-the-scenes photo of Carvin and Mc'Cohen.

New information has arrived for Jason Robert Stephen's Necrosis courtesy of the distributor Brink DVD. The film, which releases April 20th, will be offered in an unrated version. To horror enthusiasts, that means fewer cuts and less editing of the final product which creates a more complete version of the film. This also means that Stephen's and writer Robert Michael Ryan's original vision will be seen in this version. Already reviewed here (Necrosis Review), the film stars James Kyson Lee (Heroes), Tiffany (1980’s Pop Star), George Stults (7th Heaven), Penny Drake (Zombie Strippers), Danielle De Luca (Naked Fear), and horror legend Michael Berryman (The Hills Have Eyes). Have a first look or revisit the trailer for Necrosis inside, until the film drops April 20th.

Director: Jason Robert Stephens.
Writer: Robert Michael Ryan, and Jason Robert Stephens.
Necrosis is a Brink DVD release that stars James Kyson Lee (Heroes), George Stults (7th Heaven), Tiffany, Penny Drake, and Danielle De Luca (Naked Fear). Already close to an April 20th, 2010 DVD and cable release Necrosis utilizes pacing effectively in this indie thriller. Action abounds in the film, which only mildly stumbles in the sound department.
The film attaches itself the the legend of the Donner party who were a group of 1800s travellers that were westward bound. Unfortunately, the Donner party became trapped in the Sierra Nevada Mountains and fed upon each other in a bloody orgy of cannibalism. Many of the characters in Necrosis do not fare much better as character Jerry becomes possessed by either the ghosts of the Donner party or by his paranoid schizophrenia. Either way few come out of this picture alive!

We’ve followed this film since November 2007, and I was looking forward to seeing it debut at the newly minted Paranoia film festival. There’s nowt like a ghost movie in the middle of nowhere. Necrosis is a supernatural update of the already spooky Donner party tale, in which six friends go to stay up in a mountain cabin and get trapped in a snowstorm. It turns out that the bad weather is least of their worries. The bad news is that despite the great story potential, location, and a fairly spooky Donner ghoul with Axe, this film is cursed by a lack of suspense, a weak script and poor execution.
