In 2011, Rorke's I Dream of Jeannie (1965) costar Barbara Eden gave an interview to "TV Guide" magazine in which she revealed that Rorke was
gay and had a longtime romantic partner.

Son of screen and stage actress Margaret Rorke (née Hayden; 1884-1969).
His partner was Justus Addiss. The two met on the film Project Moonbase in 1953. Addiss directed Rorke in four episodes of "The Schlitz Playhouse" (all in 1955) and one episode of "Goodyear Summer Originals" in 1956. They were together from 1953 til Addiss's death in 1979.
