Having taken the world by storm with "Saw" in 2004, Australian director James Wan and writer Leigh Whannell were suddenly the hottest new act in horror. Unfortunately, three years later, the duo would suffer the dreaded "sophomore slump" with "Dead Silence," an original puppet horror film that was lambasted by critics and bombed at the box office, barely matching its $20 million budget. It's a shame, honestly. I won't deny that "Dead Silence" has its problems (which we will get into), but it's also an enthrallingly gothic tale of mystery and the macabre (one bursting with creative ideas and inventively ghastly visuals). Not to mention it functions as a useful primer for the rest of Wan and Whannell's horror oeuvre.
"Dead Silence" starts out pretty nasty and only gets meaner the further along it goes. Upon being anonymously gifted with a ventriloquist doll named Billy (think Slappy from "Goosebumps" only somehow even...

A couple weeks ago, Fox decided to cut the episode order for the first season of Minority Report from 13 to 10 episodes. So, has the show been cancelled?
Set in Washington D.C. 2065, Minority Report follows Lara Vega (Meagan Good), a homicide detective who becomes connected with Dash (Stark Sands). He's a psychic "precog" who's haunted by images of future crimes and is on a mission to stop them from happening. The rest of the cast includes Nick Zano, Laura Regan, Wilmer Valderrama, Daniel London, Li Jun Li, Zhane Hall, and Tina Lifford.
The series debuted on September 21st to a 1.11 rating in the 18-49 demographic with 3.1 million viewers. That was a very disappointing debut, especially for a high profile series that was given a lot of promotion from the network. The ratings dropped nearly 20% in week two and then fell...

Yesterday HitFix Harpy took a trip to the year 2065 to visit the set of “Minority Report.” While most of what I learned there is under wraps for a few more weeks, I did stumble across something amazing. Stark Sands — who plays precog Dash — has been a busy man. If Broadway comes calling for a dystopian musical about the ethics of enslaving humans to stop murders, the Sands has the opening number ready to go! The delightful @starkweather serenaded us today on the set of #MinorityReport A video posted by Donna Dickens (@mildlyamused83) on Oct 21, 2015 at 6:53pm Pdt According to Sands and fellow cast mates Laura Regan (Agatha) and Nick Zano (Arthur), the musical interlude came about during their hours and hours submerged on the milk bath set. It looks like Minority Report, the new Fox TV show, has moved a bit closer to being cancelled. It's been reported that the series' episode order has been cut, from 13 to 10 episodes. The show had a poor debut in the ratings last month and the numbers have been getting worse each week.

For a show about precognition, Minority Report has an impressive number of flashbacks and the second episode, "Mr. Nice Guy," begins with one. We see the three precogs back when they were still under government control. Their handler, Wally (Daniel London), is explaining to some government suit that each of the three has a distinctive personality and gift. Agatha (Laura Regan) becomes the person she predicts. As he explains, "It's like she leaves herself. Her brother's mind is an antenna, pulling in names, facts, information. And Dash can see the murders but doesn't have the information or ability to stop them." And so ends the part of the script writers refer to as "repeating the backstory for new viewers."...

What would you do if you discovered you had the power to see the future, or to absorb and make use of all the knowledge in human history, or simply kept discovering new and unexplained abilities at all hours of the day? In the real world, you might try to make a fortune on the stock market, or work to end world hunger, or develop a working time machine. On television, though, you'd use your powers to fight crime. Always. The TV business has yet to meet the characters whose unconventional skills can't be used to help close murder cases. We're entering the eighth season of a novelist working as an NYPD consultant on ABC, and both Leonardo da Vinci and Ichabod Crane have both somehow become part-time sleuths in recent series. It's a format that not only has a long commercial track record, but that's simply safer and easier...

September 21 is a date that has long been on the calendar for fans of Fox’s live-action Gotham series, but with little under a week to go until its premiere, the network is beginning to stoke the embers of excitement for Minority Report. Despite getting to say Steven Spielberg a lot, Fox’s Minority Report has its work cut out for it as a concept. Though the film was something of a success, and met with critical approval, even it struggled to work the Philip K. Dick short story into an expanded narrative.
Such is Dick’s genius really. Though not all his stories are brilliant, he was at least smart enough to know that some concepts work best if you just get in and get out. Part of the sci-fi genre’s ability is to let the reader/audience chew on an idea on their own.
Now we have to translate that into something that’s going to keep coming back every week?
That’s only going to work if you can offer up a character audiences will love, and run through the series establishment so fast it almost doesn’t seem to be happening.

Fox’s small screen slate is getting a dose of futuristic sci-fi this fall in the shape of its Minority Report reboot. The sequel series is set ten years after the events of Steven Spielberg’s 2002 movie when PreCrime is obsolete. It imagines a world where exhausted cops long for the days when three psychics in a water tank told them who to arrest. A decade later, those subaquatic Precogs no longer serve the police. Instead, law enforcement now relies on different technology to apprehend criminals.
Spielberg’s three Precogs are still involved in the series, however, living out their days in a witness protection-type deal. Dash (Stark Sands) continues to suffer from visions; his twin brother Arthur (Nick Zano) is elsewhere; and Agatha (Laura Regan) appears to have her own secretive agenda. Enter Meagan Good’s cop Lara Vega, who crosses paths with Dash and the pair team up to combat crime.

With the 2014-2015 television season winding down, many television fans and channels are looking ahead to the new series that will make their debut over the next television season. Fox is no different, having announced their renewals, cancellations, and new series pickups over the last week, and the network has now released trailers for a number of their new series.
First up is the trailer for the new animated series Bordertown.
From Family Guy’s Mark Hentemann comes Bordertown, a new animated comedy about two families living in a Southwest desert town on the U.S. – Mexico border. The series takes a satirical look at the cultural shifts occurring in America, where the U.S. Census forecasts that by 2017, ethnic minorities will become the majority. Set against this increasingly diverse backdrop, the comedy explores family, politics and everything in between with a cross-cultural wink. Bordertown centers on two clans: the Buckwalds and the Gonzalezes.

The TV follow-up to Minority Report has found its leads: Anchorman 2's Meagan Good and Inside Llewyn Davies' Stark Sands…
We recently heard that Daniel London would appear in the Minority Report series, reprising his role from the film as Wally the caretaker for the TV series set ten years after Tom Cruise brought the whole PreCrime system crashing down.
Now, we know who the two lead characters will be played by. They look a bit like this…
The lead role has long been listed as Detective Lara Vega, who we now know will be played by Meagan Good of Think Like A Man, Anchorman 2 and Brick. Her character is a detective who’s ‘not afraid to break a few rules.’ The action of the series will see her helping a former Precog Dash, who still needs help reintegrating into society ten years after the events of film.

One question about Fox's upcoming drama pilot "Minority Report" has been answered - they're happy to recast the main roles from the Spielberg film.
Deadline reports that Laura Regan ("They," "Mad Men") is set to take on the role of Agatha, the most gifted of the three pre-cogs, in the upcoming sci-fi procedural series set a decade after the end of the 2002 sci-fi feature.
In the series Dash, one of the three pre-cogs who were the key to the Precrime division in the film, now struggles to lead a 'normal' human life and remains haunted by visions of the future. He soon meets a detective, Lara Vega, who is haunted by her past who just might help him find a purpose to his gift.
Samantha Morton played Agatha in the film and was reportedly offered the chance to reprise the role, an offer she turned down. In the series, she's...

The sex scene almost makes it worth sitting through Atlas Shrugged III, the last and least of the cheapjack adaptations of Ayn Rand's brick-thick celebration of taking your ball and going home. About an hour in, after she's toured and left the hidden Colorado enclave of the captains of industry who have “gone Galt” and dropped out of our ungrateful society, heroine Dagny Taggart (Laura Regan) faces one of the great train-scheduling crises that are forever cocking up life in Rand's retro-future choo-choo America. The pre-coital drama plays like a story problem from homeschool math class: Facing a food shortage, the useless East Coast needs trains full of grain from the heartland, but the corrupt federal government has nationalized the railroads. (Thanks...

The newest trailer for Atlas Shrugged: Who Is John Galt? focuses on the steamy romantic relationship between the title character and protagonist Dagny Taggart, and features a quick image of former presidential candidate Ron Paul making his acting debut. In the two-minute trailer, Taggart, played by Laura Regan, is in a plane wreck that brings her to the mysterious Galt, played by Kristoffer Polaha. The two get to know each other, then, the video abruptly switches to politics. That's when former Republican congressman Paul, playing a television commentator in the film, is seen on a TV screen saying: "Millions

Unless you’re a diehard Libertarian or the ghost of Ayn Rand herself back from the great beyond come to haunt us all in the spookiest of fashions, you probably haven’t spent that much time paying attention to the Atlas Shrugged film trilogy. If you’re suddenly inspired to trek to the theater and explore the role of man’s mind in existence, the third and final installment of the series — which attempts to answer the all-important question of “Who is John Galt?” — has arrived. The first trailer for the aptly titled Atlas Shrugged: Who Is John Galt?, directed by James Manera and written by Manera and Harmon Kaslow, promises epic romance, war and all the Ron Paul the silver screen can handle. It’s somewhat of a miracle that the film even exists. After Atlas Shrugged: Part I was a bonafide flop, only managing to bring in lukewarm $4.6 million at the box office, its...

Filmmakers behind the third Atlas Shrugged movie have set the politically opportune date of Sept. 12 to answer the question they pose: "Who is John Galt?" The movie is the final installment in the Atlas Shrugged film trilogy, which is based on Ayn Rand's novel of the same name that has become a favorite among libertarians and others who promote capitalism and have disdain for excessive government regulation. Atlas Shrugged: Who is John Galt? stars Laura Regan and Rob Morrow as protagonists Dagny Taggart and Hank Rearden, while Kristoffer Polaha plays the mysterious John Galt, who may or may not

Well, “Atlas Shrugged: Who Is John Galt?” is still an actual thing that is happening and the producers are continuing a trend that they started with the second film: bringing in an entirely new cast. For the final installment of the trilogy, John Galt will be played by Kristoffer Polaha (“Devil’s Knot”), Laura Regan (“Unbreakable,” “Mad Men”) will play Dagny Taggart, and the rest of the main cast includes Rob Morrow, Eric Allan Kramer, and Joaquim de Almeida. Production on the film has just begun and producers are hoping to release the film this upcoming September, right in time for the midterm elections. Based on the popular Ayn Rand novel, in the third movie, the most successful and productive members of America all begin to disappear in the form of a strike that’s been orchestrated by a mysterious figure named John Galt. And with the movie largely centered around this John Galt character,...

Laura Regan ("Mad Men," "Unbreakable") and Rob Morrow ("Northern Exposure") take on the roles of Dagny Taggart and Hank Rearden respectively. They take over from Taylor Schilling and Grant Bowler in the first film, and Samantha Mathis and Jason Beghe in the second.
Joaquim de Almeida ("The Mentalist," "Revolution") takes over from Jsu Garcia and Esai Morales as Francisco d’Anconia, while Eric Allan Kramer has been cast as the modern-day maritime pirate Ragnar Danneskjold.
Kristoffer Polaha ("Ringer," "Devil's Knot") takes on the key role of John Galt himself in the film, the mysterious figure orchestrating a bizarre 'strike' involving the most productive members of society.
This final chapter, entitled "Atlas Shrugged: Who is John Galt?", is planned for a release in September.

The last episode of Bones was terrific, wasn't it? It set in place what I think will be a great story arc for Booth about his sniper history, even if it was one of the grossest episodes ever. A new episode of Bones will be airing on February 3 and it's going to be like an episode of Big Love, with a polygamist the victim of murder (well, Big Love in the sense of multiple wives, not the polygamist dying). Will the episode help Booth recognize his feelings for Brennan?

Many of us are fascinated by serial killers--what makes them tick, what makes them do what they do and, in our darker moments, whether we could ever carry out the gruesome acts they undertake. Sure, everyone has thought about killing someone, even if it is only for a fleeting moment, but how many of us could actually do it?
And what if, one day, someone walked into your life who saw a spark of himself lurking behind your eyes, and offered to help you recognize that darkness within yourself? Could you do it? With dark humor and a decidedly tongue-in-cheek approach, How To Be A Serial Killer (opening in select bookings this summer; go here for details) examines exactly those questions.
Moving seamlessly through a variety of styles, writer/director Luke Ricci brings us the story of Bart (Criminal Minds’ Matthew Gray Gubler), a fumbling video-store clerk/slacker who is...

Benjamin King has joined the cast of the NBC telefilm Saving Jessica Lynch, about the capture and rescue of the 20-year-old U.S. Army private during Operation Iraqi Freedom. He will play 38-year-old Master Sgt. Robert James Dowdy, who, like Lynch, was with the 507th Ordnance Maintenance Co. based out of Fort Bliss, Texas. Dowdy was one of the soldiers who died when their convoy was ambushed March 23. Lynch, who survived the attack, was taken unconscious to a hospital in the southern Iraqi city of Nasiriyah, from where she was rescued April 1. Canadian actress Laura Regan was tapped to play Lynch, with Nicholas Guilak set to play Mohammed Odeh Al-Rehaief, the Iraqi lawyer who alerted U.S. military officials to Lynch's whereabouts (HR 8/14). Also previously cast in the movie are Crystle Lightning and Nina Kaze. King, seen in this summer's actioner S.W.A.T., also was featured in the indie A Little Inside. He is repped by Don Buchwald & Associates and manager Laina Cohn at Acronym Entertainment.
