Nearly two years after its acquisition of Alliance, Canadian giant eOne continues to make changes within its film division. The latest move is a rejigger of the global film business that will see the exit of global film division head Patrice Théroux, and the entry of Steve Bertram as President, Global Film Group. Bertram is a DreamWorks veteran who most recently led new business development and operations. He has also previously held senior positions at Paramount and Relativity. Cannes premieres can sometimes take years to reach theaters worldwide, but we’ve got news today on one that is expected to arrive in just a few months. Entertainment One, or eOne, has picked up the North American rights to David Cronenberg‘s Cosmopolis. Some middling reviews are always a troubling sign, but, regardless, Deadline reports that Entertainment One have picked up Wish You Were Here, an Australian thriller starring Joel Edgerton and Teresa Palmer. This marks a reunion of sorts for many of the members who were on board the 2010 hit Animal Kingdom, being the latest feature from Blue-Tongue Films. Directed by Kieran Darcy-Smith, it’s mystery at heart; the story centers on “four friends [who] embark on a carefree holiday, but only three return home.” From this point, they’re forced to determine what happened on their trip.
That less-than-enthusiastic reaction is unfortunate — it’s one of the few Sundance movies I was looking forward to before the festival started — but some of the complimentary notices toward Edgerton‘s performance and Darcy-Smith‘s direction are, nonetheless, good signs. I guess it won’t all be a let-down!
The picture is expected to hit U.

TORONTO -- Canadian distributor Seville Pictures on Thursday said it has a deal to release Lionsgate films in Quebec.
The move follows last week's announcement by Quebec film distributor Christal Films that it had ended a six-year joint venture with Vancouver-based Lionsgate and Toronto-based Maple Pictures, the Canadian distributor of Lionsgate product (HR 5/11).
To ensure continued distribution of Lionsgate movies, Maple Pictures signed an agreement with Seville Pictures for the distribution of new releases and catalog films in Quebec.
The pact, which covers all distribution rights, will kick off with the June 8 theatrical release of Eli Roth's "Hostel 2".
"We are very enthusiastic about working with Maple Pictures and Lionsgate, two important companies whose films complement our own," Seville Pictures co-president David Reckziegel said in a statement.
Canadian distributors have traditionally focused on either the country's French-speaking market in Quebec, or the English-language market in the rest of Canada.
In ending its ties with Maple Pictures and Lionsgate, Christal Films said it will release its own film and video slate as well as make all TV sales, outside of Quebec.
