I joined Outlier Society as president and became Michael B. Jordan’s producing partner after serving as president of production at Paramount Pictures. When I arrived at Outlier, the Creed III team was already in development on the script from a story by the franchise’s originator, the incomparable Ryan Coogler, to be written by King Richard Oscar nominee Zach Baylin and Keenan Coogler, Ryan’s brother. While I was of course excited to support Michael in his directorial debut and produce this film alongside Michael and Ryan, another great joy for me was reuniting with producer Irwin Winkler, with whom I had worked over many years and films in my Paramount days and who won the Oscar for best picture with Rocky.
In the early stages of preproduction, we stress-tested the concept and paradigm of the movie. Michael and I constantly asked ourselves, “What kind of movie are we making?...

“That goes, I think, directly to the core of what we do as producers is there are going to be problems, there are going to be setbacks. That is guaranteed,” says “Rustin” producer Bruce Cohen about managing the challenges that arise on any film set. “If we’ve done a good job of prepping the film, that’s really our job on the set is you’re literally just standing there waiting for people to bring you the problems of the day.”
We talked to Cohen as part of our “Meet the Experts” film producers roundtable along with his fellow “Rustin” producer Tonia Davis, James L. Brooks and Julie Ansell, Elizabeth Raposo (“Creed III”), Justine Conte (“Killers of the Flower Moon”) and Fred Berner (“Maestro”). Watch our roundtable discussion above. Swifties have done it again. In the latest sign of their appreciation and devotion to Taylor Swift, a group of Brasilian Swifties have successfully lobbied local officials in Rio de Janeiro to celebrate the arrival of the pop star and her “Eras Tour” with a special projection onto the city’s iconic Christ the Redeemer statue.
The announcement was made on Thursday, as the city’s mayor, Eduardo Paes, confirmed that they would “properly honor” Swift’s presence with the projection, comparing her to a modern day Michael Jackson or Madonna. “Welcome, Taylor Swift, and stay happy, Swifties,” he said.
Swift landed in Brasil on Thursday, and is scheduled to perform three shows in Rio de Janeiro, after which she’ll head down to São Paulo for three more dates.

Over the last couple of years, the Dominican producer Diego Raposo has been dreaming up brilliantly strange soundscapes, architecting a world all his own. He’s bent pop structures into uncanny, futuristic experiments both as a solo artist — his 2018 album Caribe Express continues to be a seminal indie favorite — and as a go-to collaborator for artists like Danny Ocean. But on his new album Yo No Era Así Pero de Ahora en Adelante, Sí, he reaches deeper into his creative depths, turning out completely voltaic, unpredictable new songs.

Exclusive: On the heels of a record-breaking Tko with its Michael B. Jordan-directed boxing pic Creed III for Amazon/MGM, Jordan’s Outlier Society will team with the Mission: Impossible franchise’s Christopher McQuarrie to produce Iron Curtain, a new action thriller in early development at Amazon Studios.
Plot details are being kept under wraps. But McQuarrie and Emmy winner Erik Jendresen (Band of Brothers) will handle the rewrites on McQuarrie’s original screenplay. Jordan and Elizabeth Raposo will produce for Outlier Society, which has had a first-look film deal and overall TV deal with Amazon since 2021.
McQuarrie penned the script for Iron Curtain back in 2003 and while he initially set up the property with Intermedia, rights later transferred to Resurgence Media Group, where they remained for years. Raposo has had a long history with McQuarrie, given her 15 years at Paramount Pictures building up to the role of President of Production.

Written by Aaron Jayh, the short thriller story The Dwelling has never been published – but that’s not stopping it from serving as the basis of a film that has Prisoners and Raised by Wolves writer Aaron Guzikowski writing the screenplay, with Michael B. Jordan and Liz Raposo’s company Outlier Society attached to produce. Jordan is also considering starring in the film. Deadline reports that Amazon Studios came out the winner in a bidding war over the project, paying an amount somewhere in the high six figures. Ground Control’s Scott Glassgold will also be producing the film with Jordan and Raposo.
Deadline notes that “Several studios bid and put together talent alignments, but it came down to Amazon and Netflix.” And Amazon won.

Exclusive: Amazon Studios has won a competitive auction and sealed a high-six figure outright purchase of The Dwelling, an unpublished short story by Aaron Jayh. Michael B. Jordan and Liz Raposo’s Outlier Society are attached to produce. Jordan is potentially starring.
Adapting the mind-bending story will be Aaron Guzikowski, the scribe best known for Denis Villeneuve’s Prisoners and Apple TV’s Raised by Wolves. Jordan and Raposo will produce with Ground Control’s Scott Glassgold.
Several studios bid and put together talent alignments, but it came down to Amazon and Netflix, sources said.
The Dwelling tells the story of a newly divorced father who discovers a house buried in his backyard. He is a former all pro football player trying to ease into retirement, and the hits he took on the field starts to make him unsure what is real and imagined, as things begin to go awry.

After its massive debut at the box office, Creed III has solidified a number of things, including that the spinoff franchise has a farther reach than Apollo Creed and that Michael B. Jordan may be a legitimate one-two punch as actor and director. But how do Jordan and Sylvester Stallone compare in terms of legacy regarding Rocky and Creed? And does Jordan have what it takes to bank on the franchise more than Stallone has been able to?
In a new conversation with Deadline, the interviewer noted that Sylvester Stallone has been “bitter about his original Rocky deal and being locked out of the generational legacy of that franchise.” Stallone has indeed been open about the deal–or lack thereof–he got from the Rocky franchise. Even though he created the character and the franchise, he doesn’t hold the rights, at one point saying, “Who knew Rocky would go on for another 45 years?...

Exclusive: As his directorial debut Creed III was cresting toward a $100 million global opening weekend and setting numerous records — top opening for the Creed franchise and biggest sports film opening ever and a knockout victory for MGM, new parent Amazon & United Artists Releasing as the company embraces the theatrical release, and Warner Bros (which launched the film overseas) — Michael B. Jordan sat down with me Sunday night as those numbers were piling higher. It was the first in person interview for us since I met him and Ryan Coogler at Cannes for the launch of Fruitvale Station. Trying to rebound from my own family tragedy months earlier, that film was cathartic for me because it was the first time I grieved the death of my father in Hurricane Sandy. I shared that with them, and spent a lot of time with both, and especially Jordan. He was just stepping into...
