MGM+ has officially confirmed season two of the sci-fi thriller Beacon 23 will air on the streaming service. The series was originally set up with Spectrum Originals and AMC Networks, and a second season had already been ordered prior to season one’s premiere on MGM+ on November 12, 2023.
Seasons one and two were filmed back-to-back, but Spectrum Originals shut down in 2022 before season one aired. MGM+ snatched up the series, and their announcement confirms fans of the show based on Hugh Howey’s bestseller will return to the world of Beacon 23 in April 2024.
Zak Penn (Ready Player One) created the series and serves as an executive producer. Glen Mazzara (Damien) and Joy Blake (The Passage) are co-showrunners on the eight-episode second season and executive produce.
“Beacon 23‘s season two ups the game: more action, more mysteries, more twists, and exciting new characters,” said Glen Mazzara. “It’s a thrill ride.

The first season of sci-fi thriller “Beacon 23,” starring Lena Headey (“Game of Thrones”) and Stephan James (“If Beale Street Could Talk”), reached its conclusion Sunday with MGM+ dropping the eight-episode season’s final two installments. Showrunner Glen Mazzara spoke with TheWrap to break down the first season’s arc, where the show’s heading in Season 2 and more.
The following contains Spoilers for the finale of Season 1.
Lena Headey’s Aster suffered what appears to be a fatal injury in the Season 1 finale, when cultist Keir (Marc Menchaca) shot her with a concussive gun that knocked her back. Her head hit a railing and she fell, eyes open, apparently dead — though this is science fiction, so audiences will have to wait to see what comes next.
“There are obviously forces beyond her control, that have been affecting her — as she learns, they’ve been affecting her her entire life,...

Chicago – Atom Egoyan makes memorable films, examinations of the human psyche that create intuitive philosophy. His newest film, “Chloe,” is no exception, as Julianne Moore and Amanda Seyfried play characters that forge a complex connection.
The title character Chloe is portrayed by Seyfried, in a departure from her current soft leading lady status. Chloe is a prostitute, who is observed through an office window by a successful gynecologist named Catherine (Moore). When the good doctor suspects her husband (Liam Neeson) to be straying, she hires Chloe to seduce him and confirm her fears. The cat and mouse game that ensues results in karmic reparations for all.
These are the type of films that Egoyan, a well-known Canadian director since the 1990s, has delved into. His sense of humanity, in which the repression of sin often becomes the punishment, strengthens and manifests his cinema art. After making a splash with his...

Welcome back to the Pop Culture Club, where every Thursday we get a movie, TV, or DVD assignment, and then meet back here the following week to discuss it. Last week I assigned the bad-seed thriller Orphan; at that point I hadn’t read any advance reviews, and little did I know that this movie is why the term "bats-t" was invented. Before we go any further, let me say that this post will have Spoilers Aplenty: If you haven’t seen the movie yet, back away slowly. Because really, there’s no point in seeing this movie at all unless you're freshly stunned by the craziness as it comes at you. Okay, are the spoilerphobes gone? Then let me take a deep breath and say What The F--? Sorry -- that's two dashed-out profanities in as many paragraphs, but how do you describe this movie without tossing four-letter-words around like confetti?...
