The Big Bang Theory is one of the highly recognized flagship sitcoms centering on four nerds alongside two scientists and, of course, Penny. The show has been a huge success, thanks to the excellent performances of the main characters as well as everyone that appeared as supporting actors.

Over the course of its 12-year-old run, The Big Bang Theory has never lost sight of any of the four main characters with each and every single one of them being extremely different from the others.
Apart from omnipresent Sheldon and Leonard, the show also featured their long-time close friend Howard Wolowitz portrayed by Simon Helberg throughout the whole series.
While now everyone can hardly imagine any other actor in this role, the show’s creators initially had someone else in mind — and Helberg could’ve lost his iconic character to his actual co-star.
As Jessica Radloff’s book, The Big Bang Theory: The Definitive, Inside Story of the Epic Hit Series, suggests, Howard Wolowitz’s part was initially offered to Kevin Sussman — he later on ended up staying in the show and portraying Stuart Bloom, a comic book store owner.

Chuck Lorre and Bill Prady’s The Big Bang Theory is the gift that keeps giving at CBS, as another spinoff of the beloved ensemble comedy is in the works. As you’re likely to know, The Big Bang Theory paved the way for Young Sheldon, a series focusing on the early days of Big Bang’s Sheldon Lee Cooper, Ph.D., Sc.D (Jim Parsons). The Young Sheldon spinoff hails from the series’ executive producers Steve Holland, Steven Molaro, Chuck Lorre, and Warner Bros. Television. According to Deadline, deals are ongoing for Jordan and Osment to reprise their roles. The spinoff...

An official YouTube channel dedicated to the classic sitcom The Munsters and the franchise it spawned was launched three years ago, and as the years have gone by a whole lot of clips from the 1964 – 1966 show have been added to that channel. But now Universal has decided to go ahead and share a couple full movies on there as well: The Munsters’ Revenge from 1981 and Here Come the Munsters from 1995. With all the strike talk about low pay, WGA and SAG-AFTRA members are starting to play a little show me yours and I’ll show you mine when it comes to their (paltry) residual checks.
Just about everyone has a story to share about how their residuals took a serious nose dive with the advent of new media. A recent story in The New Yorker about how actors on the once successful Orange is the New Black never enjoyed a financial windfall only exacerbated the angst felt by actors and writers these days.
Here’s a sampling of their stories:
Jason Belleville (Home Economics): “I wrote on the first season of Cobra Kai, which is one of the biggest shows in Netflix history. I think I have more money in my pockets right now than any residuals I’ve seen from that. I was also was an executive producer...

Some of Hollywood’s high-profile show creators with big overall deals have been noticeably absent from the picket line over the last eight days — that is, until Tuesday.
Chuck Lorre, the most successful sitcom creator working in television today, hit the picket line outside of Warner Bros. TV with the equally powerful Bill Prady, his former collaborator on The Big Bang Theory. Prady kept his message simple on Twitter: “Scene from a strike.”
They posed for a picture in front of the banner for Tbbt, which made millions for the studio.

A newThe Big Bang Theory book reveals the actors who almost took Kaley Cuoco’s place in the series.
It was previously revealed that Cuoco originally tried out for the role of a character named Katie, who would have been worlds away from Penny. Cuoco did not get the role.
Speaking in Jessica Radloff’s book The Big Bang Theory: The Definitive, Inside Story of the Epic Hit Series, Cuoco said: “I know Chuck [Lorre, the show’s co-creator] really wanted me for the role of Katie, and I was definitely bummed when I didn’t get it,” Cuoco told Radloff.
The book reveals that four actors almost won the role instead: Marisa Tomei, Tara Reid, Elizabeth Berkeley and Jodi Lynn O’Keefe.
Co=creator Bill Prady said that Berkeley especially had a ”terrific” audition, but it was O’Keefe who won the role. However, she got fired 30 minutes after the first table read with the cast.

It comes just two years after Prady struck a first-look deal with Netflix.
The new multi-year deal will see Pine Tree develop scripted programming including multi- and single-camera comedies, dramas and genre series, for a variety of platforms including HBO Max, cable and broadcast networks and non-Warner Bros.-owned streamers.

The Brady organization against gun violence is calling on Hollywood writers, directors and producers to examine onscreen gun violence and depictions of gun safety, asking the creative community to sign a pledge that’s already garnered more than 200 signatures of such names as Judd Apatow, Shonda Rhimes, Damon Lindelof and Jimmy Kimmel and the writers of Jimmy Kimmel Live!
The pledge, while noting that the “responsibility lies with lax gun laws supported by those politicians more afraid of losing power than saving lives,” acknowledges that “America’s storytellers” have the power to “effect change.”
“Cultural attitudes toward smoking, drunk driving, seatbelts and marriage equality have all evolved due in large part to movies’ and TV’s influence. It’s time to take on gun safety,” the Brady pledge states, and goes on to ask writers, directors and producers to, whenever possible, to:

Co-created by Two and a Half Men producer Chuck Lorre and Bill Prady, The Big Bang Theory made its television debut in September of 2007 and had a 12-season run that ended in 2019. Set in Pasadena, California, it explored the lives of a majorly geeky and socially awkward cast, with the inclusion of an aspiring actress and a comic bookstore owner. During its reign, the show earned itself a total of 46 Emmy nominations, eventually bagging seven of those awards. It also inspired the birth of a prequel dubbed Young Sheldon, based on Jim Parsons’ character, Sheldon Cooper. Since

Bill Prady is probably best known as the co-creator of “The Big Bang Theory.” But four years before the launch of that sitcom mega-smash, Prady — on a lark — was among the motley crew of candidates who ran in the 2003 California recall election circus. Now, as California faces another recall drama, this time an effort to remove Gov. Gavin Newsom, there isn’t nearly the same kind of bedlam that led to the election of Arnold Schwarzenegger.
And this time out, Prady is less amused. “I think the Newsom thing is yet another example of politicians exploiting the ‘red team/blue team’ sports nature of politics for their own benefit,” he says. “The GOP so loathes the combination of the supermajority in Sacramento with a Democratic governor that they’re trying to use Covid to change that.”

Newsmax host Grant Stinchfield came under fire for calling Israel the “home country” of American Jews on a Wednesday night broadcast.
“I don’t belong to any political party but I am Jewish and newsflash: my home country is the United States. To suggest otherwise is bigotry,” tweeted CNN anchor Jake Tapper.
Others, like The Daily Beast’s editor at large Molly Jong-Fast, were more succinct: “My ‘home country’ is America,” she wrote.
By Thursday morning, Eric Bolling announced he would be filling in for Stinchfield for the rest of the week on his primetime show — though a rep for Newsmax later explained that Stinchfield was “speaking at an event” that “had been planned for a while” and that is why he would not be on air on Thursday or Friday.

If there was ever a moment to cry, "Bazinga," it's now, folks! HBO Max has officially acquired the rights to stream The Big Bang Theory, one of the very few major franchises that hasn't been licensed for binge-watching yet, aside from the final season being available on CBS's own CBS All Access. The streaming site has exclusive rights to all 12 seasons of the show and will have all 279 episodes available to stream when HBO Max launches Spring 2020.
As part of the deal with Warner Bros. Television, the comedy created by Chuck Lorre and Bill Prady has also extended its syndication deal with TBS and will air on the network through 2028. While the exact price of the acquisition hasn't been made available, it's safe to say that the series came at a pretty hefty price. As one of TV’s most popular shows of the past 20 years, “The Big Bang Theory” was sure to command a huge price when the streaming rights were finally shopped in a red-hot market for iconic comedies with large libraries.
But “Big Bang Theory” wasn’t shopped widely on the open market before the streaming pact with HBO Max and the four-year cable extension with TBS was announced early Tuesday morning. The reason is because of a provision in the original megabucks syndication deal that TBS set with “Big Bang” back in 2010.
Even 10 years ago, that agreement anticipated that streaming services could compete with cable channels for rerun rights. The deal granted TBS a number of years of exclusivity for the show, barring “Big Bang” producer Warner Bros. TV from selling the streaming or on-demand rights separate from the cable deal. HBO Max has landed another popular series for its back catalog when it launches in 2020.

That means fans will have access to 279 episodes when the service launches in the Spring.

Mission accomplished! One of WarnerMedia brass’ top goals for the company’s upcoming streaming service HBO Max was to have the biggest comedy series of the past couple of decades, Friends and The Big Bang Theory — both produced by sibling Warner Bros. TV — at launch to help drive subscribers to the new offering.
After shelling out $425 million for the exclusive streaming rights to Friends, taking it away from Netflix, HBO Max has secured the exclusive streaming rights to all 12 seasons of The Big Bang Theory. This marks the first ever streaming pact for past seasons of the hugely popular series, which recently finished its 12-season run on CBS.

Bazinga! HBO Max has prevailed in the auction for streaming rights to “The Big Bang Theory,” one of the last major comedy franchises that has yet to be licensed for the binge-watching era.
WarnerMedia’s nascent streaming platform will have exclusive rights to 12 seasons of the show from Warner Bros. Television and co-creators/executive producers Chuck Lorre and Bill Prady. All 279 episodes of “Big Bang” will be available on HBO Max when it launches next spring.
The deal also includes an extension of cable rerun rights to “Big Bang” for WarnerMedia’s TBS. TBS has consistently ranked among cable’s top 5 outlets ever since “Big Bang” reruns debuted on the cabler in 2011. The initial round of “Big Bang” syndication sales in 2010 set records with license fees of upwards of $600 million from TBS and local TV stations around the country.
Financial details of the HBO Max streaming sale were not disclosed.

The “unscripted” series is set to premiere on the service in 2020 and will feature celebrity guests. No other details were shared.

Refresh for updates Tom Bergeron, the longtime host of ABC’s Dancing With The Stars, isn’t happy with the booking of Sean Spicer, Donald Trump’s former White House press secretary, as a contestant for the upcoming season.
In a tweet today following the casting announcement, Bergeron wrote that he had hoped the upcoming 28 season “would be a joyful respite from our exhausting political climate and free of inevitably divisive bookings from Any party affiliations.”
In fact, Bergeron said he left a lunch with the show’s new executive producer (that would be Andrew Llinares) a few months ago and thought they were in agreement.
“Subsequently (and rather obviously),” Bergeron continued, “a decision was made to, as we often say in Hollywood, ‘go in a different direction.”
Bergeron also stopped by for a promotional appearance on SiriusXM to discuss the show with host Dalton Ross, reiterating his tweet.

Dancing With the Stars‘ decision to cast Sean Spicer in its latest season has drawn a sharp rebuke on social media, with some calling on ABC to reverse course and dump the disgraced former White House press secretary.
“Sean Spicer repeatedly lied to the American people and literally defended Hitler,” Big Bang Theory co-creator Bill Prady bemoaned on Twitter. Community vet Yvette Nicole Brown, whose previous ABC credits include The Mayor, called Spicer’s hiring “very problematic.” Roswell, New Mexico showrunner Carina Adly MacKenzie implored ABC to “do better.”
