Roger Planchon was born on September 12, 1931 in Saint-Chamond, Loire, France. He was an actor and director, known for Lautrec (1998), Danton (1983) and Louis: The Child King (1993). He died on May 12, 2009 in Paris, France.
Influential French playwright, actor and stage director. A theatrical company he formed in the 1950's became the Lyon-based Théâtre National Populaire (TNP) in 1972. He served as its director until 2002.
