- Carl Pingitore was born on January 11, 1924 in New York City, New York, USA. He was a producer and editor, known for Dirty Harry (1971), Police Story (1973) and Play Misty for Me (1971). He was married to Karen. He died on February 23, 2008 in Eureka, California, USA.

- In the early 1970s, he found himself at Columbia Studios working with friend and fellow producer, Stanley Kallis. Their work included "Born Free", "Fantasy Island" and the anthology series, "Police Story" based on actual police cases, which resulted in a 1974 Emmy Award for Best Dramatic Series. The series also garnered Carl an Image Award from the NAACP.
- He started his own film editing service in New York City and moved to Hollywood in 1948 and continued his editing service there.
- His father was Michael Pingitore the renowned banjoist with the swing-era big band, The Paul Whiteman Orchestra and this love of swing music stayed with Carl throughout his life.
- His twin, Philip, died in infancy.
- Three children, son, David, daughters Michele and Carla. 4 grandchildren and 2 great-grandchildren survive him.
