Paramount+ may have culled a wealth of international originals in the past couple of weeks but that hasn’t stopped it committing to a UK thriller series set in a world where men live under a strict nightly curfew.
Starring Sarah Parish, Doctor Who’s Mandip Gill, Mitchell Robertson and singer Alexandra Burke, Curfew is set in a society where all men live under ‘The Women’s Safety Act’, meaning they are bound by a strict curfew from 7Pm to 7Am every night, with their movements tracked by an ankle tag 24 hours a day. When a woman’s body is discovered, brutally murdered during curfew hours and left on the steps of the Women’s Safety Centre, veteran Police officer Pamela Green believes that a man is responsible. But in a world where men are bound by the curfew system, her theory is rejected.

Exclusive: Sky Studios has denied that it is piloting a Hugh Bonneville comedy about slavery amid a backlash from Black creatives on social media.
The Comcast-owned European studio said Forty Acres depicts Bonneville’s character reflecting on the genesis of his “generational wealth” and is “categorically not a comedy about slavery.”
The working title is, however, a play on a failed Civil War reparations program known as “40 acres and a mule.” Forty acres happens to be the size of the estate owned by Bonneville’s character.
Sky has not formally announced the project, but it was reported on by the British Comedy Guide. The publication initially said the pilot, penned by Wonka and Hijack star Rufus Jones, was about “historic slavery.” The story has since been updated to say Forty Acres is about “Britain’s murky colonial legacy.”

The Holiday is a Christmas classic. A cosy romcom set between snow-covered Surrey and sunny Los Angeles, the film tells the story of two women, Iris (Kate Winslet) and Amanda (Cameron Diaz), who decide to swap houses for the festive season.
With each in a new place, and both having sworn off love thanks to terrible experiences, Iris and Amanda somehow both managed to find “the one”, as well as learn new things about themselves along the way.
Miles (Jack Black) and Graham (Jude Law) are everything you want and more in romcom love interests. Funny, kind, and vulnerable, the two men are the perfect choices for Iris and Amanda, respectively.
However, there are a number of other actors who either cameo or appear in some of their earliest film roles.

HBO has renewed banking drama series Industry for a third season.
Created by Mickey Down and Konrad Kay and produced in the UK by Bad Wolf, Industry gives an insider’s view of the blackbox of high finance following a group of young bankers as they forge their identities within the pressure cooker environment and sex and drug fueled blitz of international bank Pierpoint & Co’s London office.
In Season 2, the grads are no longer allowed to hide behind their graduate status. The market is ripping, and Pierpoint’s back to work or else mandate has the trading floor more charged up and paranoid than ever. New U.S. management will be gasoline on the flames – an injection of cross Atlantic energy that lights a fire under each and every employee. Now Harper (Myha’la Herrold), Yasmin (Marisa Abela) and Robert (Harry Lawtey) must drive new business and make new alliances...

In season one, Viscount Bridgerton was less hero than impediment. The eldest Bridgerton son, he assumed responsibility for the matches of his younger siblings Daphne and Colin, and spent the season throwing his weight around – sometimes literally in the case of the punch-up and dual with Daphne’s suitor Simon. Anthony attempted to control everybody else’s marriage responsibilities while refusing to face up to his own. His mistress Siena Rosso eventually made the decision for him, recognising that an opera singer with her past would never be found respectable enough to become a society Viscountess. Siena moved on, and urged Anthony to do the same.
In season two, Anthony’s search for a wife is centre-stage, making actor Jonathan the romantic lead. It’s not the first time the actor has told a love story in his established stage and screen career, which started in his childhood with the Royal Shakespeare Company,...

Rooted in noir tradition, the suspense thriller of the “your past is catching up with you” variety is well-worn. So how does one reframe it in a way that feels at once fresh while also familiar, so as not to alienate increasingly impatient audiences? Therein lies the challenge for any new entries into the space, and one that Netflix’s latest Harlan Coben collaboration, “Stay Close,” ultimately fails, despite a decorated cast led by Cush Jumbo and James Nesbitt, even if their performances are the best thing about the series.
In “Stay Close,” Jumbo stars as Megan, a suburban mother of three whose previous life as a stripper named Cassie, along with the lives of those she thought she’d left in the past, come back to haunt her, threatening to ruin the perfect present-day reality she’s created for herself. The history summarized: once a popular dancer, one of...

“The worst TV adaptations are slavishly devoted to the [original] text,” according to The Stranger creator Harlan Coben, who said he “hopes to continue” working with Netflix as his five-year deal draws to a close.
Coben was speaking in a Q&a for his latest Netflix project, Red Production Company’s Stay Close starring Cush Jumbo, Richard Armitage and James Nesbitt, which is set to drop on December 31.
The U.S. novelist-turned-screenwriter’s unique five-year deal with the streamer sees him mostly adapt his own novels for shows around Europe and he explained he had no issue with relocating Stay Close from Atlantic City to the British seaside resort of Blackpool for the TV version.
“It’s really fun to change things around,” said Coben. “The worst adaptations are the ones slavishly devoted to the [original] text. I like to work with the cast of characters to move a story along.”

This Inside No. 9 review contains spoilers.
Beheading, drowning, strangulation, throat-slitting, cannibalism, exsanguination, human sacrifice, dead babies… Practically nothing makes Inside No. 9 flinch. Let’s not forget, its first ever episode was a tale of historical child sexual abuse that ended in mass murder – which might explain why it took Bafta six series to finally award it ‘Best Comedy’.
It’s only the arrival of Inside No. 9’s first overtly political episode that marks out how apolitical the show has been until now. Of all the uncomfortable places it’s ventured, the state of the nation has stayed largely unexplored territory. Now it’s making up for lost time with a tale of Brexit Britain that belatedly takes up the full mantle of its 1970s Play For Today predecessor. In that strand, Barry Hines, Jim Allen, Ken Loach and others regularly put the country on screen alongside more fanciful,...

The eight-part final series sees Lorenzo (Sharman) as the undisputed leader of Florence, who faced Popes and Kings to become the first man in history to unite economy, culture and politics in one great vision that put Florence at the very centre of Europe.

He is lost and distant from his faith and he feels he’s the only one that can save his family, his city and the enormous artistic treasure he built. Medici: The Magnificent shows the power of art and beauty as driving forces behind Medici rule. The series shows the journey of a man who falls many times before he can find himself again.

The digital platform is also set to debut a raft of British dramas including Tom Riley’s Dark Heart and BAFTA Award-winning drama Three Girls as part of its latest slate of acquisitions, announced as part of its TCA presentation.
Morgan, who previously hosted a talkshow on CNN, fronts Good Morning Britain, which runs on ITV, alongside Susanna Reid. "I need you to be the person you plan to be sooner." The first official trailer has arrived online for an indie romantic comedy titled You, Me and Him, from the UK made by Australian filmmaker Daisy Aitkens, her feature debut. You, Me and Him plays with modern relationship dynamics by introducing a lesbian couple named Olivia and Alex, played by Lucy Punch and Faye Marsay. One lady is a career driven lawyer and the other a fun loving, pot smoking layabout and their neighbour is an annoying Casanova. While neither woman ever wanted children, both end up pregnant. How's that for a modern romantic comedy concept? The cast includes David Tennant, David Warner, Sarah Parish, Peter Davison, Gemma Jones, and Sally Phillips. From the footage in this trailer, it seems this is trying too hard to be a quirky comedy that captures society's romance, but lacks any of the...

Of all the roles that David Tennant has played, Detective Inspector Alec Hardy in “Broadchurch” is perhaps the least likely to be associated with a catchphrase — and yet he has one. Or, at the very least, he acknowledges that when you think of Hardy, you think of him shouting “Millah!” in a strong Scottish accent.
It has significance to this reporter, given my byline, which was something I mentioned to Tennant when we spoke about the third and final season of the ultra-serious drama series. “I’m delighted,” he said when I told him how much I enjoyed the “Millah!” meme. “People shout it at me in the streets sometimes, actually,” Tennant said. “Which is a bit odd because it’s not actually my name. But it obviously pleases people for some reason.”

If the ITV website had a ‘choose your own ending’ option to save Mark Latimer, I’d click morning, noon and night between now and next Monday to get that poor man out of the water. Money, even. I’d give cold, hard cash to ensure that just out of shot in the final, terrible moment of this week’s emotional episode, is Ellie Miller standing Boudicca-like at the helm of a coastguard rescue boat, hair waving in the wind, ready with a foil blanket and a thermos of hot tea.
