When Los Angeles high school students Eduardo Cho and Kimberly Carrillo showed up to the set of their short film “Dumpster Diving,” they did not expect to see that the cast included the likes of Seth Rogen, James Franco, Nick Kroll, Hannah Simone, and Michael Pena. The students were told they would be getting the chance to work “with professionals in the film industry,” but the reality was even greater than anyone could’ve expected.
“Dumpster Diving” is the first short released under Rogen and Evan Goldberg’s “And Action!” program, which seeks to give young aspiring filmmakers and screenwriters the chance to break into the industry from a young age. The pilot program took place at John C. Fremont High School in L.A. and the Rene Gordon Health and Wellness Academy in Toronto, with Rogen and Goldberg working with students to brainstorm script ideas and later bring them on to set.

By now you’ll have read all about Fyre Festival, the misbegotten music fest whose immediate downfall has provided countless people with their weekly schadenfreude fix. Perhaps less amused with the development than the rest of us — how could you do this, Ja!? — are Seth Rogen and the Lonely Island, who seem mildly annoyed that life is imitating art they’ve yet to create: “This seems like a good time to mention the movie we are making with @thelonelyisland about a music festival that goes Horribly Wrong,” Rogen tweeted yesterday.

Hulu’s “Harlots” arrives at a key time for women’s sexual and reproductive health. Not only are those issues being addressed in today’s political climate, with Texas in particular considering various anti-abortion legislation, but Hulu’s other big spring release, “The Handmaid’s Tale,” also addresses a woman’s ability to decide what to do with her body.
But while “The Handmaid’s Tale” is a dystopian story of women forced to breed for high-ranking men, “Harlots” takes a more practical approach to how women used their bodies to deal with oppression. Becoming a whore or madam wasn’t ideal, but in 1760s Georgian London, it was both lucrative and offered the best chances at some sort of upward mobility and independence – unlike the conditions of the completely patriarchal marriages of the day.

James Franco and Seth Rogan are teaming up to develop a new teen drama series for Hulu that is set in the 1990s. What I love about this is that these two guys got their big break in Hollywood on a little teen drama series in the '90s called Freaks and Geeks, which ended up being a classic.
They are developing the series as executive producers with author and social media personality Kelly Oxford, who has been brought on to write the script. The hour-long series doesn't have a title yet and there's really no other information to offer at this point.
I'm just looking forward to seeing what this team of talent ends up delivering. Franco and Rogen always tend to make fun and entertaining shows and movies and the fact that they are developing a series set in the' 90s is intriguing because my whole teenage existence...

Jon Stewart is officially exiting The Daily Show after 17 years -- leaving an opening people are already suggesting the likes of Craig Ferguson, Jason Jones, and even Brian Williams fill. Ugh, didn’t we just do this? Colbert took over The Late Show for Letterman, Corden took The Late Late Show from Ferguson. White dudes replacing white dudes.

Twitter is a handy place to scan the latest headlines, enjoy your favorite comedian’s analyses of your least favorite reality show, and, yes, write horrific things about famous people. Jimmy Kimmel Live has turned that third thing into a simply clever and satisfying bit called “Celebrities Read Mean Tweets,” in which… well, it’s pretty much what it sounds like: Movie and TV stars recite the terrible things that people have said about them on Twitter with a straight face (and possibly sauce it with a comeback).

Family and Filth Can Go Hand-in-Hand: The 12 Best Bits from Bob Saget on His New Book, 'Dirty Daddy'
Currently on tour promoting his new book, "Dirty Daddy: The Chronicles of a Family Man Turned Filthy Comedian," Bob Saget sat down with author Kelly Oxford on April 17th as a part of Live Talks La to discuss how the book came together. At its core, Saget says, the book is about how over the years, comedy has helped his family cope with death -- particularly the passing of four of his siblings. Although filthy at times, Saget was forthcoming and humble with his responses throughout the evening -- perhaps because Oxford set up a comfortable atmosphere, shifting seamlessly between interviewing and improv-ing with him. Here are 12 of the most interesting and funny bits delivered by Saget: On getting fired from CBS:"I got fired from a show on CBS because 'I was too hot for morning television.' Mariette Hartley was the host and she said, 'Are you a type A person?...

Kristen Bell had quite the busy last few days. Over this past weekend, she had a baby shower, complete with friends actress Rachel Bilson, her "House of Lies" co-stars Ben Schwartz and Josh Lawson, and a breast pump, as seen in the Twitpic here from writer Kelly Oxford, who tweets, "At @IMKristenBell baby shower and she's totally trying to get me to put the next baby in her. :(."
Then later this week, Bell flaunted her baby bump for all the world to see. She certainly looks like she's about ready to pop.
But our favorite of all the Kristen Bell outings is her impromptu "Veronica Mars" reunion at the L.A. Kings game Wednesday night (Feb. 27).
Bell tweets, "Lookie who I ran into at the Kings Vs Redwings game! @ricocolantoni ! Tv dad, meet my baby daddy!" and "Look Who Else I Found! @iamgreenfield! Its a reunion!"
And she posted the pictures below.

30 Rock, Season 7, Episode 3, “Stride of Pride”
Written by Tina Fey
Directed by Michael Engler
Airs Thursdays at 8pm (Et) on NBC
30 Rock continues its remarkably strong final season by addressing the fallacious “women aren’t funny” argument. The episode itself, written by Tina Fey, disproves this myth, but as Liz and the hysterical song that backs the climactic montage so succinctly state, it’s an argument that isn’t even worthy of address (although they hedge on this during the tag at the end). Shows like 30 Rock and Parks and Recreation stand as proof-positive that women are every bit as funny as men even if the debate hadn’t already been settled by a long legacy of hilarious women stretching from Irene Dunne to Kelly Oxford. Yet it still seems to surface quite frequently, most recently espoused by Adam Carolla. Fey heightens the ridiculousness of the argument by putting it...

Tumblr is the new Twitter, at least when it comes to TV networks mining for new shows.
According to EW, the Tumblr blog Hollywood Assistants is being adapted into a CBS sitcom. Titled "20-Nothings," the series is loosely based on the blog about working as a Hollywood assistant. It covers office life, personal life, etc. all done with GIFs. The script for the series follows five friends supporting each other as they try to make it in the world.
Then there's "F---! I'm In My Twenties" in development at NBC. According to Deadline.com, the blog-turned-book-turned-tv show follows a young woman in her 20s trying to navigate life in a big city. The blog isn't exclusively Gif-based; it features hand drawings by Emma Koenig.
