The centre of Dublin came to a standstill on Christmas Eve when a group of buskers took to the streets to raise money for charity. For this busking group included pop superstar and U2 frontman Bono. Bono joined Glen Hansard, Damien Rice, Mundy, Liam O'Maonlai and others on Grafton Street to raise money for the Dublin Simon Community, a group that works to prevent homelessness and aid the homeless. Bono sang along to Stand By Me, One, and Knockin' On Heaven's Door, before slipping away while the others carried on. One fan told the local paper The Hot Press: 'That was incredible. I was out innocently doing my shopping when I saw a crowd gathered.

Sideline (The Model Agent, Hollywood Trials) are due to commence production on a new Irish language series for Rte One 'An Cor', a new Irish language singing competition that will be broadcast over four shows during Seachtain na Gaeilge March 2010. A bi-lingual TV series, six of the best or most suitable choirs in the country that consist mainly of English speaking singers will have to learn, rehearse and perform the most popular Gaelic songs. Presented by Fiachna O'Braonain (Hothouse Flowers), the six choirs will immerse themselves in the culture, language and history of traditional Irish songs like Báidín Fhelimi, Oro Se do Bheatha Bhaile, Poc ar Buile, Bean Phaidín and Beidh Aonach Amárach. Series producer / Director will be Rachel Moriarty with Lucia Gavin as series co-ordinator.
