Our good friends over at Moviehole.net have learned that South African stunner Tanit Phoenix (Lord of War, Gallowalker) has joined the cast of direct-to-disc sequel Lost Boys: The Thirst, now lensing in Cape Town, Sa. Phoenix will play the part of Gwen, a wealthy romance novelist who enlists the help of vampire-hunter/surfboard shaper Edgar Frog (Corey Feldman) to track down a family member whose gone missing, says the site. Corey Feldman and Jamison Newlander both return as the Frog brothers, alongside Sean Cameron Michael, and Seb Catang for the Dario Piana-directed sequel, out next year via Warner Premiere. »

The cast of the third chapter of those vampire-hunting Frog Brothers has just enlisted some beautiful help. Moviehole is reporting that South African actress/model Tanit Phoenix has joined the cast of Lost Boys 3: The Thirst.
Phoenix (Lord of War) will play Gwen, an affluent romance novelist who hires Edgar Frog (Corey Feldman) to help her find a missing family member. Phoenix joins the cast that already includes Feldman, Jamison Newlander, Sean Cameron Michael, and Seb Catang.
Dario Pinata is directing the film, which is currently shooting in Cape Town, South Africa. The film is tenatively set for a direct-to-dvd release sometime in 2010.

Lost Boys 3: The Thirst was recently announced with Corey Feldman coming back as Edgar Frog. Directed by Dario Piana, The story follows veteran vampire hunter Edgar Frog, who finds himself destitute and almost friendless. Just when he thinks his life has hit rock bottom, wealthy vampire-romance novelist Gwen Liebling (in a direct riff on Twilight} offers him a small fortune to go on the vampire hunt of a lifetime and rescue her son Peter from the Alpha Vampire D.J. Dusk. With the help of his friends Zoe, Lars and Blake, Edgar heads into a bloody battle to exterminate evil. Many people may not even be aware that there was a Lost Boys sequel, but last year saw the release of Lost Boys: The Tribe. The title became a straight-to-dvd sensation, making back its $5 million dollar budget in just three weeks of DVD sales. The Tribe saw the return of Corey Feldman as Edgar Frog, a vampire hunter with an attitude, as well as Angus Sutherland filling in for his brother Kiefer. Corey Haim returned as well, but only for one scene at the end of the movie, while the other Frog brother, Jamison Newlander, only appeared in an alternate ending found on the DVD. Feldman told ShockTillYouDrop that the Frog Brothers will reunite for the third installment, titled Lost Boys: The Thirst.

Last night at the Eyegore Awards, Corey Feldman walked the red carpet with Jamison Newlander, his co-star in Lost Boys 3 , which shoots in South Africa next month. Long before vampires glittered (Twilight) or were battling werewolves (Underworld) they were hanging out in backwater towns and convincing teenagers they were eating maggots instead of noodles (Don’t worry, it was kind of like the vampire version of a Jedi mind trick). For those who don’t get the reference, I’m speaking of vampire cult film The Lost Boys.
It’s been more then twenty years since The Lost Boys came out and to give you an idea of how different vampires were back then, here’s the tag line from the original film: “Sleep all day. Party all night. Never grow old. Never die. It’s fun to be a vampire”. Yes, being a vampire was “fun”, especially when the only real threat was a couple of comic book geeks who claimed to be vampire hunters.

Bloody-Disgusting is reporting that Warner Premiere has hired “The Deaths of Ian Stone” director Dario Piana to helm “Lost Boys 3: The Thirst”, written by Evan Charnov. Corey Feldman and Jamison Newlander are expected to return as the Frog Brothers but Bd is only able to confirm Feldman’s involvement. I could also confirm Feldman’s involvement I simply because I can’t imagine Feldman saying “No,” to another “Lost Boys” sequel.
The plot would follow a destitute and friendless Edgar Frog (Feldman) until wealthy vampire-romance writer Gwen Liebling offers him a shitload of cash to hunt down Alpha Vampire D.J. Warner Premiere is moving forward on Lost Boys 3: The Bite (although we suspect they'll drop the number 3). According to Production Weekly, Evan Charnov scripted the threequel. He penned Fearless , a TV vehicle for Rachel Leigh Cook in 2004. In the director's chair is Dario Piana who helmed the After Dark Horrorfest 2 entry The Deaths of Ian Stone (pictured) - a film that demonstrated promise but was bogged down by script problems. While Pw doesn't offer any plot details, it does reiterate what we've heard in the past: Corey Feldman and Jamison Newlander are back to reprise their roles as the Frog Brothers. Recall the stinker that was The Lost Boys: The Tribe (review here)? You remember -- the flick with the surfing vampires? (Again we ask: Why didn't the priest just bless the ocean?) No? You missed it? Do yourself a favor and keep it that way. Like it or not, Production Weekly has announced tonight that the next film in the franchise, now called Lost Boys 3: The Thirst, is just about ready to get under way from Warner Premiere.
All that's known about the film, which has been scripted by Evan Charnov, is that both Corey Feldman and Jamison Newlander are returning to their roles as The Frog Brothers. Being that Newlander is now a vamp and Feldman is still a hunter, this could make for an interesting dynamic between the two. Interesting, yes, but will it be good?
