After a premature ending, Hannibal season 4 is looking more like a possibility now. One fan speculates on what it might be...
That Hannibal survived as long as it did is a minor miracle. A baroque opera of a TV show packed with elaborate plot twists, psychological games, gore elevated to the level of art and pitch-black humour, Hannibal never should have been on network television. Perhaps its greatest tragedy is that NBC picked it up without truly knowing what they were going to get; a crime procedural based on an iconic property must have seemed a no brainer. Of course that was not accounting for the ways in which creator Bryan Fuller managed to take well-trodden material to stunning new heights, subverting the text while paying loving tribute to it and all the while forging a path all its own. Hannibal was unlike anything else on TV...

Tonight, Bryan Fuller and company gave us the end of "Hannibal" as we know it. Even if the money and logistics can ever be worked out for some kind of movie or miniseries featuring Mads Mikkelsen, Hugh Dancy, and this creative team, the show's time as an ongoing TV series is done, and it ended in a way that functions as a conclusion to the story, even if it's one that may outrage some fans. (My finale review is here.) Earlier this week, I spoke with Fuller about that ending, potential ways he could continue the franchise, the challenges of finally doing a direct adaptation of "Red Dragon," and a lot more — including me having a very different interpretation of the post-credits scene than what Fuller intended — coming up just as soon as you take the key from around my neck... At what point in the season did you realize...

As Hannibal season 3 arrives, we chat to showrunner Bryan Fuller about origin stories, Francis Dolarhyde, David Bowie & more…
The long wait to find out who survived The Red Dinner (aka Hannibal’s spectacular season two finale, Mizumono) is almost over. Hannibal season three is nearly upon us, and to mark its arrival, we caught up with showrunner Bryan Fuller to find out what’s in store.
Firstly, we’re due to meet a different kind of Hannibal in a very different kind of setting. Fuller’s James Bond fandom has leached into the first seven-episode chapter of the season, which sees Mads Mikkelsen’s chicly dressed predator living undercover in the upper echelons of Italian society. The season’s second six-episode chapter introduces Richard Armitage as Francis Dolarhyde, a character familiar to Red Dragon fans.

Catching up on Hannibal news from last month: season three won't arrive on NBC until this summer...
Whether it's technically a delay or just how things are unrolling for Hannibal season three, the show's Television Critics' Association panel held last month confirmed that Lecter and pals won't be back on NBC until the summer. This might be old news to many, but we missed it the first time around so reporting it now in the spirit of better late than never.
Seasons one and two of Bryan Fuller's superlative psychological horror show made their debuts in April and February, leading creatures of habit to expect season three to premiere around the same time in the calendar. Not so. They're taking a little extra time with Hannibal's third run, and summer is its pencilled-in Eta.

If it's one thing we love, more than dear family members and this great United States of America, it's NBC's "Hannibal." The operatic horror series, based on the Thomas Harris novels that also inspired "Silence of the Lambs," "Manhunter," and, yes, "Hannibal" (sorry if this is getting confusing), is one of the most visually striking, emotionally riveting and just-plain-scary television series to ever hit the small screen. All of this makes the wait in between seasons downright torturous, especially since it was recently announced that the show wouldn't return until summer. And thanks to a new trailer for the third season that NBC has just unleashed, well, that wait is going to be even harder.
The show, of course, follows the adventures of Dr. Hannibal Lecter (Mads Mikkelsen), a murderous shrink who is involved in a deadly game of cat-and-mouse with an FBI profiler named Will Graham (Hugh Dancy). For...

Fannibals were devastated recently by the announcement that the return of everyone’s favorite cannibal would be delayed until the summer, but at least we have this tasty morsel to tide us over in the mean time.
The new trailer shows a recovered Will Graham searching all over Europe for Hannibal Lecter. There are scenes introducing Hannibal’s adopted aunt, Lady Murasaki, showing Dr. Bedelia Du Maurier attending various events with Hannibal, and a particularly creepy scene in a tunnel at the end which I won’t give away here.
Noticeably absent though are Jack Crawford, Abigail Hobbes, and Dr. Alana Bloom? Have all three succumbed to the injuries they incurred during the season 2 finale, or is showrunner Bryan Fuller simply playing with us? Only time will tell, but one thing’s for sure: summer can’t come soon enough.

1. Broadchurch - ITV
It's been an agonising wait, but Chris Chibnall's BAFTA-winning thriller will return to our screens on January 5, with David Tennant and Olivia Coleman returning to front the cast as detectives Alec Hardy and Ellie Miller.
Marianne Jean-Baptiste, James D'Arcy, Charlotte Rampling and Torchwood's Eve Myles are among the new cast additions for series two, which promises to reveal why Alec is still in Broadchurch and what's next for Ellie (Coleman) after she uncovered her husband's dark side.

Can NBC's Hannibal top its superlative second season? With what season 3 has in store, Gabriel believes so...
Warning: contains spoilers for Hannibal season 1 and 2 and the Thomas Harris novel Red Dragon.
When the credits rolled on Hannibal’s second season finale, my heart did not slow down for twenty minutes. I stared at my TV screen, mouth hanging open, unable to believe the sheer insane, vicious horror and beauty of what I had just witnessed. Not only was it the kind of carnage that could give Game Of Thrones a run for its money, but it was also so full of genuine pathos and emotion. Betrayal, forgiveness, revenge; it all came together in those final minutes. It was a finale of peculiar power, full of the kind of sad inevitability that could move you to tears and get your adrenalin pumping all at the same time. Quite simply, I have...

Bryan Fuller has some exciting things planned for Hannibal‘s hotly-anticipated third season, which includes some intriguing new characters from Thomas Harris’ books. While the series has deviated greatly from the source material thus far, Fuller has taken it upon himself to draw inspiration and story beats from novel like Hannibal and The Silence of the Lambs at will, and is tackling the prequel novel Hannibal Rising next.
That, of course, comes with the inclusion of Lady Murasaki, Hannibal’s mysterious Japanese aunt. According to Deadline, Murasaki will be played by The Wolverine and Batman V Superman: Dawn of Justice actress Tao Okamoto. The site describes her role as follows:
“Okamoto will play the dark and mysterious Lady Murasaki, who possesses an alluring and classical beauty with a dark secret.”

“Hannibal” is bringing a new character from the novels to the small screen. The NBC drama, starring Hugh Dancy as Will Graham and Mads Mikkelsen as the cannibal himself, has cast Tao Okamoto as its Lady Murasaki, according to Deadline. The character is described as a beautiful woman harboring a dark secret, and makes her appearance in Thomas Harris’ 2006 prequel novel “Hannibal Rising.” In the novel, Lade Murasaki was Hannibal Lecter’s Japanese aunt who he lives with for some time. During his time under her roof, the two develop an inappropriate, borderline romantic relationship. In the 2007 film adaptation of [...]

Tao Okamoto ("The Wolverine") has scored the key role of the dark and mysterious Lady Murasaki in NBC's "Hannibal".
Okamoto will have a major guest starring arc in the series as the alluring and classical beauty with a dark secret.
In the Thomas Harris novel "Hannibal Rising," Murasaki is Hannibal Lecter's Japanese aunt who developed a quasi-romantic relationship with the young Hannibal.
Okamoto is currently shooting Zack Snyder's "Batman v Superman: Dawn of Justice" for Warner Bros. Pictures.

Shock will never turn down an update on Hannibal when showrunner Bryan Fuller wants to grant one to us. Earlier this week, we spoke with him about the forthcoming DVD and Blu-ray release of Hannibal season two (hitting September 16th). What has been revealed already is that the third season will focus on a manhunt to find Hannibal who has fled to Europe. Francis Dolarhyde (aka The Tooth Fairy) will make an appearance as will Lady Murasaki.

As previously reported, TV Line recently served up new Hannibal season 3 spoiler scoops from the current 2014 Comic-Con event in San Diego, CA. It turns out that we'll see 7, new characters joining the madness and they named off three of them, which are: Commander Pazzi (in Episode 2), Lady Murasaki (in Episode 3) and Cordell (in Episode 4). There's also going to be a major guest to arrive on the scene, and more. Their spoiler report reads like this: " As an appetizer, the Ep unveiled a surprise guest who’ll be a “huge part of Season 3”: Raul Esparza, who played the presumed dead Dr. Frederick Chilton. (Eddie Izzard will also return in a flashback.) “I can’t believe how much people fell in love with Chilton this season,” Esparza effused. “I love playing the part because he’s a total douchebag.” For the main course, Fuller revealed that the show will introduce several...

While some filmmakers and show runners are all about insane levels of secrecy regarding their work, "Hannibal" producer Bryan Fuller has no such fears and is happy to talk openly about events in the upcoming third season of the acclaimed NBC series.
Spoilers Ahead
The show's panel yesterday at the San Diego Comic Con did just that with the presence of an actor who is returning that many thought was left for dead last season - Dr. Fredrick Chilton (played by Raul Esparza). Despite being shot in the face, it seems Chilton is still alive and will play a huge part of season three. Esparza says no matter what kind of awful mishaps happen to the twisted psychiatrist, Fuller always reassures him that he’ll survive.

Following Hannibal's bloody and eventful season 2 finale, Bryan Fuller talks about what we can expect from season 3...
News
Warning: contains spoilers for the Hannibal season 2 finale.
In a revealing and spoiler-filled postmortem interview with TV Guide, Hannibal showrunner Bryan Fuller not only dissected what was going on in the minds of Mads Mikkelsen and Hugh Dancy's characters during Friday's season two finale, but also pointed tantalisingly to a new direction for the show's forthcoming third run.
According to Fuller, the first episode of season three will "essentially function as a new pilot for a new series because everything's different". The plan for the third season is to take "a lot of disparate elements from the novel Hannibal Rising and the novel Hannibal and mashing them up together as part of the thrust of the season. It's going to be fun to bastardise two novels into one sort of Frankenstein season.

The recently finished second season of NBC's "Hannibal" has shaken things up. It was always believed show runner Bryan Fuller had planned to basically do two to three seasons of original story with the fourth and subsequent seasons segueing into "Red Dragon" and the subsequent novels.
However, this second season has shown the producing mastermind hasn't been afraid to change up the back story and lore of the books as necessary. A key scene from "Red Dragon" has already played out, supporting character fates seem uncertain in the wake of a shock death, and elements from later books (eg. Mason Verger) have already been explored.
There's also the complication with "The Silence of the Lambs" as legal issues prevent use of elements from that book - namely characters like Clarice Starling, Benjamin Raspbell and Jame Gumb. Speaking with TV Guide about the third season, which is soon slated to head into production,...

As Hannibal teeters on the edge of cancellation, we finally get to the good stuff: the psyche of the serial killer.
This week’s episode is a bit of something different, both for the show and for Hannibal stories in general. So often, we see what the deadly psychiatrist does, while a careful curtain - a human veil- keeps us from looking into his own emotional and mental makeup. That obstacle began to fade as we followed Hannibal himself through something remarkably like a-day-in-the-life-of.
This week’s case was, as usual, weak in and of itself: a doctor-wannabe performing organ harvesting. While the forensics team seems compelled to believe his work is that of the Ripper (or that he is, at least,...
