Patricia Miller, mother of “General Hospital” and “The Young and the Restless” star Billy Miller, spoke out Monday about her son’s death.
Billy died Friday, two days before what would have been his 44th birthday. In an interview published Monday evening, Patricia clarified her son’s cause of death, which was not released with initial reports over the weekend.
“He fought a long, hard valiant battle with bipolar depression for years. He did everything he could to control the disease. He loved his family, his friends and his fans. But in the end, the disease won the fight and he surrendered his life,” Patricia told Soap Opera Digest. “The other causes of death being told are not true. I wish they were, but they just aren’t. We all loved him so much and are desperately trying to deal with our loss. I will have nothing further to say.

Soap opera star Billy Miller, who was best known for his portrayal of Billy Abbott on “The Young and the Restless” and both Jason Morgan and Drew Cain on “General Hospital,” has died at the age of 43. His death was confirmed by soap opera journalist Michael Fairman.
A cause of death has not been released, but Miller’s management released a statement noting, “The actor was struggling with manic depression when he died.” Miller died on Friday — Sunday was set to be his 44th birthday.
The actor joined daytime TV in 2007, briefly playing Richie Novak on “All My Children,” before moving on to “The Young and the Restless.” Despite being the fourth actor to try his hand at Billy Abbott, Miller dove headfirst into the role and ultimately won three Daytime Emmys between 2008 and 2014.
Soap operas played a major role in Miller’s life long before he was cast in one.

“You don’t begin to understand the power of Victor Newman,” says the man himself, played by Eric Braeden, in a preview of his 40th anniversary special on “The Young and the Restless.” Don’t we know it. Watch that preview above, and check out the tribute episode when it airs on Wednesday, February 19.
That’s right, Braeden has starred on “Y&r” for 40 years now — or rather, 40 years and 11 days since he made his first appearance on the CBS soap opera on February 8, 1980. Genoa City’s summer just got markedly hotter, with the news that Melissa Claire Egan is set to reprise her role as The Young and the Restless‘ Chelsea Newman.

Sorry, Michael Muhney stans, ‘The Young and the Restless’ picked someone else to play Adam Newman #4
We recently asked our readers who they thought should be cast as the nefarious Adam Newman on “The Young and the Restless” if the character should come back from the (presumed) dead. Well, it was recently reported that the role has been filled, and it looks like the CBS soap didn’t listen to any of my wildly speculative suggestions — not that I’m bitter. But they also didn’t revert to a previous actor like many of our readers would have preferred. Mark Grossman will play Adam, not past portrayer Michael Muhney.
Grossman is a newcomer to daytime television whose past credits include a recurring role in the Freeform series “Famous in Love.” He’ll be the fourth man to play Adam Newman on “Y&R” following Chris Engen (2008-2009), Muhney (2009-2014) and Justin Hartley (2014-2016). Muhney earned a Daytime Emmy nomination for Best Actor in 2013 for his performance as Adam,...

“I think that’s great,” Justin Hartley told Soap Opera Digest during a recent interview when asked about the possibility of his daytime alma mater “The Young and the Restless” recasting his role as Adam Newman, a devious businessman with serious daddy issues. “They should. Adam is a great character,” the actor added. Of course, Hartley himself has a rather full plate these days as one of the stars of NBC’s “This is Us,” so if Adam were to return to Genoa City, it might need to be with a new face.
Hartley actually got his start in daytime. He joined the cast of NBC’s “Passions” in 2002 as Fox Crane and stayed with the show until 2006, after which the role was taken over by Mark Cameron Wystrach for another year and a half before the character was shot to death by his girlfriend’s niece — don’t you hate it when that happens?...

Kristen Bell will return as the titular detective in a Hulu series revival of Veronica Mars, sources tell Variety. Rob Thomas, who created the original Upn/CW show, will serve as writer for the mystery-drama, with Warner Bros. as the studio. The deal is reportedly not finalized as of this writing, and no further casting or plot details have been reported.

“Veronica Mars” could be making its long-awaited TV return.
Sources tell Variety that a revival of the series is currently in the works at Hulu with original series star Kristen Bell poised to return as the titular detective and original series creator Rob Thomas serving as writer. Warner Bros. Television, which produced the original series, would be the studio. Sources caution, however, that the deal for the series is not yet final. It is also unknown if any other original series stars besides Bell would return or what the plot of the series would be.
Among the matters complicating the deal is that Bell currently stars in the hit NBC comedy “The Good Place.” Should the “Veronica Mars” project move forward, it would need to shoot around her schedule for the latter show, meaning it would likely be a limited series consisting of eight to ten episodes.
Both Hulu and Warner Bros.

Melissa Claire Egan announced on Jan. 31 that she was leaving “The Young and the Restless” later this year. She has played the role of Chelsea Lawson for six eventful years. She was introduced as a con artist who gave up Billy Abbot’s (Billy Miller) baby. She evolved into a kinder character who married and divorced Adam Newman (Michael Muhney). Most recently, she passed off her child with him as that of Dylan McAvoy’s (Steve Burton).
The actress revealed the news to her fans via a Twitter post:

I love this show (and this genre) so very much, and am so grateful to this amazing crew and cast, especially my beyond wonderful Josh Morrow. This cast, crew, and everyone behind the scenes at Sony and CBS are truly the best at what they do and are my family.

Justin Hartley is stepping into some big shoes on “The Young and the Restless” — and he doesn't mind if some fans don't think he can fill them. On Nov. 5, Hartley will take over the role of Adam Newman on the CBS soap, following the departure of Michael Muhney. But he's not particularly worried if viewers don't take to his portrayal of Newman. “People are going to have their opinions, which I think is great — I welcome it and I love it,” Hartley, a veteran of “Passions,” “Smallville” and “Revenge,” told TheWrap. "The Young & the Restless" star Michael Muhney was fired with little explanation in December. Now, it seems that the reason has come out: The actor who played Adam Newman was let go after a co-star complained of groping.
According to a source cited by TMZ, actress Hunter King told "Y&R" producers that Muhney had groped her breasts twice. He had also reportedly bullied and harassed King over time, so producers were looking for a reason to let him go.
Other than his long-running soap-opera character, Muhney is best-known for playing the awful Sheriff Lamb on "Veronica Mars."
The final episode of "The Young & the Restless" with Muhney will air on Jan. 30. He has not commented these new allegations.
