- One of 9 children of a surgeon, Brian Moore worked in British intelligence during WWII, although his Roman Catholic family was so anti-British, they allegedly supported the Germans.
- Journalist, novelist and screenwriter. Born in Northern Ireland, he emigrated to Canada in 1948, worked for the Montreal Gazette and became a Canadian citizen. He wrote some of his novels under the pseudonyms Bernard Mara and Michael Bryan. His works usually feature Irish protagonists and are often concerned with Catholic dogma.
