Two shady figures walk into a club, raising the suspicions of Detective Axel Foley. Foley needs help to deal with both men, but the pair of officers keeping an eye on him — Sergeant Taggart (John Ashton) and Detective Billy Rosewood (Judge Reinhold) — don’t trust him. Furthermore, he’s in a public place, which means that his actions could harm civilians.
After his pleading convinces Taggart and Rosewood to help out, Axel approaches one of the potential troublemakers.
“Phillip!” Foley shouts, adopting the stagger and slurred speech patterns of a drunk man as he approaches the confused suspect. Foley continues the act even after the suspect pulls a gun and threatens the patrons, which allows him to get close enough to yank the weapon away.

We're approaching five decades of the NBC sketch comedy show "Saturday Night Live." The not-ready-for-primetime players actually were ready, with dozens of them going on to have huge TV and film careers. Dan Aykroyd, Chevy Chase, Gilda Radner, Richard Pryor, Lily Tomlin, Adam Sandler, Martin Short, Will Ferrell, Eddie Murphy, Maya Rudolph, Kristen Wiig, Kate McKinnon ... the list goes on and on and on. I mean, it's almost been fifty years of brilliant talent, even though not every season was perfect.
SNL is, of course, live, meaning that even though there are rehearsals, it can change at the last moment, with sketches, and even actors, being cut. The very first episode of the very first show on October 11, 1975, cut an actor who went on to heights of fame. That actor was Billy Crystal. You may know that he hosted for the first time in 1976 and was a cast member from...

The world premiere of "Live From New York!," Bao Nguyen's documentary exploring 40 years of American politics, tragedy and popular culture through the comedic lens of the television institution, will open the 2015 Tribeca Film Festival on Wednesday, April 15. "'SNL's' contribution to the arts and to pop culture has been — and continues to be — groundbreaking, and 'Live From New York!' offers an inside look at the show's inimitable ability to both reflect and impact American news, history and culture," said Jane Rosenthal, co-founder of the Tribeca Film Festival. "This is the story of a creative journey from pilot to institution and a tribute to the moments that kept us laughing and talking long after the episodes aired." Rosenthal's partner Robert De Niro added that the selection is "personally gratifying…having hosted 'SNL' three times, and guested on several occasions." Nguyen's film explores the early years of the show,...

The Ufc returns to Fox on Saturday with a main card that is sure to please. The main event sees Lightweight contenders Nate Diaz and Jim Miller squaring off with the winner likely to get a shot at the Ufc lightweight title. Elsewhere on the card Johny Hendricks faces perennial welterweight contender Josh Koscheck, Alan Belcher faces Jiu-Jitsu phenom Rousimar Palhares and heavyweights Pat Barry and Lavar Johnson square off.
Pat Barry v Lavar Johnson
The main card looks set to start with a bang. Barry, a vicious kickboxer, has 6 knockouts from his 7 wins while Johnson, a heavy handed brawler, has 14 knockouts from 16 wins. Both men like to stand and bang and this is undoubtedly a firm candidate for the Knockout of the Night honours. To put it simply someone is getting put to sleep. Blink and you might miss it.
Prediction: This one really could go either way but...

Exclusive: The summer of TV resurrections continues with a third-season pickup of The Life & Times Of Tim at HBO. The 10-episdode order of the Mrc/Good Humor TV-produced animated comedy comes 2 months after HBO cancelled the underrated series by Steve Dildarian. At the time, Mrc took the project to Comedy Central, Adult Swim and TBS. Tim, about a guy who finds himself in increasingly awkward situations at work and at home, has been a cult favorite and a popular series among comedy writers. It started off as a 2007 pilot at Fox produced by Warner Bros. TV and studio-based Good Humor TV. Mrc eventually took over the project and set it up at HBO with a 10-episode order. The second season of Tim, which was executive produced by Dildarian, Leynete Cariapa, Mike Clements, Jimmy Miller and Tom Werner, ran in a block with another Mrc-produced animated comedy series, freshman The Ricky Gervais Show,...

Re-release of 1972 classic Exile on Main Street wows fans all over again
You can't always get what you want, but if you wait 16 years, you just might get what you need…
The Rolling Stones may find themselves back at the top of the album charts this weekend, bringing them their first number one album since 1994.
The rereleased Exile on Main Street – which contains remixed tracks such as Rocks Off and Tumbling Dice – topped the midweek charts today.
Martin Talbot, managing director of the Official Charts Company, said the Stones faced stiff competition from Faithless, whose album the Dance was only 1,000 copies behind, and might yet pip them to the post. But the reissue, which includes a mixture of unreleased outtakes and incomplete tracks, was proving attractive to Stones fans of a certain age, he said.

You know, for years, I have selfishly wanted a new series of Sherlock Holmes films. He's one of the great characters in fiction, and one of the most widely read, too, but we haven't seen a Sherlock film in theaters in decades. Yes, there was the exceedingly good BBC series with Jeremy Brett, but that's a different kettle of fish.
And suddenly, Holmes is everywhere. Guy Ritchie is expected to direct an upcoming spin on the Arthur Conan Doyle character (although I'm not sure if they're dealing with new material; it's bad enough they're thinking of hiring a director who's clearly not cut out for the movie), and now we're getting a Sherlock Holmes comedy starring Sacha Baron Cohen and Will Ferrell.
I think I prefer Option B, thank you very much.
